Hello!!

May 23, 2023

    1. Hello all! I’m Angel/Kaz (either name is fine) and I’m brand new to the hobby, but have had a lot of secondhand exposure; my best friend has been into BJDs for many years and I didn’t really see the appeal myself until I attended a doll show with him very recently! None of the dolls they had available there were of particular interest to me, but after getting home I did some shopping around and fell in love with Dollzone’s Happy and I’m so excited to get her <3 I feel so drawn to her sculpt and overall vibe, more so than I’ve felt looking at any other doll. I ordered her blank, so I’ve been looking into faceup artists, but part of me wants to take a swing at it myself since the friend I mentioned has all the supplies I would need.

I’ve always preferred more anthropomorphic/animal-themed dolls (compared to strictly human dolls) even just peeking in on the hobby, so it makes sense that this will be the one that drags me in, but I’m so excited to see where this goes! And it’s nice to meet you all!

    2. Welcome!

I'm also a DollZone fan, she's the only BJD I have at the moment, but I just really love her sculpt. So glad you had that 'fall in love' moment with Happy! Looking forward to seeing pictures someday.

    3. Thank you!! I’m looking forward to getting her, I think she’ll arrive tomorrow (I ordered her from DDE, I’ve seen the advice about not impulse purchasing just because a doll is in stock, but in this case I think it worked out perfectly because I adore her). I can’t wait to start getting clothes and accessories for her. I’ve been having a bit of a difficult time trying to figure out what will fit her (aside from accessories that are specifically labeled YOSD or 1/6, that makes it easier) so that’s going to be a bit of a learning curve, but I feel like it’ll be easier to visualize/estimate once I have her in my hands. Gonna be scouring the forums for suggestions and advice otherwise, though.

    4. Doll clothes are usually listed with measurements, and if not they list a specific doll whose measurements you can compare with your doll's. For a doll on order, I would usually recommend referencing the company's measurements. Since she'll be in your hands soon, you could just as easily measure her yourself :3nodding: You can usually tell by the fit of the clothes which measurements will be most important to match closely, those that fit snugly and don't appear stretchy. You'll find that like human clothes, there's some wiggle room where clothes will fit but just fit a little differently, although that wiggle room is much smaller in scale. When it comes to head accessories, the head circumference is all you need. They're often listed as the wig size, which unlike other measurements, tends to be listed in a range of inches more often than it's listed in cm :blush Hope you have so much fun dressing your Happy! :D
