(If you said "General Kenobi," we are officially friends now.) Hello! I just got fully activated, but I've been lurking and reading the public posts here for a few days now. I've been a doll collector my whole life, and I've been interested in bjds for quite a few years. But I'm just now finally diving in, and I'm very excited. I always thought I'd want a full set doll that was ready to play with straight out of the box, but after browsing some of the beautiful doll profiles here, I think I'm falling in love with the idea of customization. That's for future me, though! Right now, I'm still learning and reading and I can't wait to see where this new hobby takes me.
Ahhh, I missed the mark to say General Kenobi! Also, Welcome! I agree with the wanting to customise vs full set thing, it’s pretty hard to pick most of the time for me too! I have been wanting a bunch of full sets (because they’re always super pretty), but after I got my full set ones recently, I realised I’m too scared to move them around too much because I don’t want to ruin them! Which dolls have you been collecting up until now?
Mostly the common off-topic ones like American Girl, porcelain dolls, and some playline! I got my first ever blind box bjd last week and I'm in love!! I also have a huge interest in doll restoration, so I think customizing bjds is going to be a really fun way to learn techniques for that as well!
Hello and welcome to DoA! Customization is definitely the way to go for me. I've bought a couple of fullsets and their beautiful outfits languish in a drawer.
I love them so much. They're kind of addicting to be honest! The little pocket bjds! The more I look, the more I'm finding this to be true! There's so many options for eyes and wigs and clothes...I'm definitely going to be the person changing everything out!
