Hello, nyanpasu, etc~

Jun 19, 2024

    1. Hi! I'm Yuri, an oldschool lolita from the PNW. I kept seeing the Baby, The Stars Shine Bright x Super Dollfie collaboration outfits up for sale, and over time the mental image of those teeny tiny coords just got stuck in my head... so now I'm here.

I'm currently in the process of assembling an SD to fulfill my dream of twinning with her in lolita. I have a body, which I won't talk about until its legitimacy can be verified, and few accessories on the way. I've heard DoA Marketplace is still the best bet to find a good head, so until then I'll be lurking :evilplot:I'm super excited to customize my future dolls, dress them up, and do some photoshoots. I'm interested in learning how to do faceups and potentially sewing clothes (though I'm terrible with the sewing machine, RIP.) There are a lot of styles within and outside of lolita that I can't wear due to evil sensory issues, so I'm excited to have someone who can wear them for me.

Here are some of my interests... I'd love to chat about any of these or if you have recommendations for faceup resources, please let me know!!
      - Shoujo, yuri, and josei manga and anime, especially older stuff. My favorites include Oniisama E, Sailor Moon, Super Gals, Paradise Kiss, and Marmalade Boy! Riyoko Ikeda and Ai Yazawa are probably my top authors.
      - Clothes - Lolita, other jfashion, and vintage from the '50s-'80s
      - Drawing
      - Studying Japanese (weeb behavior)

Sorry for the long intro and nice to meet you!! :aheartbea

    2. Hi and welcome!

BJDs is a wonderful sister hobby to lolita fashion. I don't often wear the style full out, but some of my dolls do. I especcailly have one who wears full out OTT sweet, a style I would not like on myself but really enjoy playing around with on a doll.
Lolita clothes are not a bad way to start sewing. Skirts and small accessories such as wrist cuffs and head pieces are incrediby easy to make and you can gradually complicate things by adding more and more details and eventually move into fitted dress bodices and structured blouse collars and all that fun stuff.

The DoA marketplace is probably one of the safest second hand marketplaces out there for BJD. Any specific head you are looking for?

      Hope you'll like it here!

    3. Aww, I love that your doll wears OTT sweet! That and gothic are two sub styles I don’t wear myself, so I’d love to dress up my doll in them :chibi
As for heads, the body I have is a white skin SD and I’m looking for something that looks refined and mature, but not too old that it looks weird on the SD body. Separately I’d love to own Lady Oscar someday but the price is scary haha.

    5. Baby The Stars Shine Bright have done a ton of collabs with Volks. Maybe they'd be up your alley as a lolita enthusiast.

      Welcome!
