Hello from the UK! \( ^o^)/

Sep 6, 2023

    1. Good doll day! :XD:

You can call me Mai in short. I'm based in West Yorkshire, England, UK. There aren't many of us here but if you're around, please connect!
I'm always looking for more people to follow on instagram. My username is mai.xii :sumomo:

      .

Not quite sure what to say but as you know I'm new here, will never know why I've never joined DoA all these time I started collecting dolls. It all happened during COVID, being stuck at home and all these money I couldn't spend outside, then I see that one doll and thought "I'm finally getting one!"

Bit of story time I guess..

Growing up in Asia and raised by anime, BJDs were never a foreign language to me but I was a lot poorer back then and not to mention my other 'expensive' hobbies eek being an avid anime fan is just a constant harsh reality on my wallet..

As with a lot of anime merc. collectors, we start of with the Azone 1/6. They're sold in places like AmiAmi and CDJapan so it is not surprising how I've stumbled across them first. After having collected about 10 of them (yes, me transitioning into crazy doll lady), I've also collected 2x Azone 1/4 and 2x Azone 1/3 over the years. At some point in those years I've also saved up enough for my very first Dollfie Dream doll, model: Megurine Luka, and then a DDS, model: Skadi (F/GO) -you know, still staying true to my anime fandom.

Now, the only disadvantages to DD and Azone is that they don't really have a proper male counterpart. I've also started to get really into the whole Wuxia and Xianxia dramas, I can't help but in awe of the handsome male actors. This is where Loongsoul and Ringdoll comes in because ima a thirsty fangirl now :XD:. This is when I've finally bought my first ever BJD and my first ever male dolls from both of these companies.

Since I'm now on the BJD-train.. I couldn't help but get my hands on a Limited Edition 1/4 2D Doll Dolk collab as well which has costed me a fortune and it is currently my most expensive, all while I was waiting for Dolk Suigintou Rozen Maiden doll to be released (big fan of this anime and also how I was first introduced to BJD properly). -You guessed it, I was there to ordered it last month :whee:

      .

Anyway back to the present, I've quite a collection now I must say but that has become a bit of a problem because my house is only small and I'm superrr bad with procrastination due to mental health etc... especially photos!

I'm hoping now that I have finally joined DoA, I'll be a lot more active <3

    6. Yes! Luka is still my fav vocaloid, I think she needs to be appreciated more tbh. It was absolutely first love at sight when I saw Luka on the DD website, I knew I she had to be mine.:XD:

    7. Thank you <3

    11. Ahh, a fellow Yorkshire lass! :whee: I can definitely sympathise with struggling for space with your collection, haha. Welcome!

    12. Hello from another UK resident!

Your collection path sounds really interesting. I'm an Azone fan myself, though I haven't gone out of the Pure Neemo size range at the biggest. At the moment, anyway...

Also? I really feel your comment regarding space - it always seems to be at a premium!
