Hello from the PNW! I have been lurking in the hobby for a few years, but only recently was finally able to afford my first BJD doll... which may or may not have been an impulse buy I did not end up regretting - Codename R, who was sold by Ringdoll as a fullset during their Halloween promo. The wait for him was long enough for me to manage to graduate, move from Chicago to the Seattle area for my new job, and to participate in yet another one of Ringdoll crazy sales and get my hands on the basic Akaoni. Ironically, Akaoni arrived a few weeks before R did, so technically she is my first doll - but she, to this day, has no face-up, and I keep her in the box, so R is the first in my eyes I am looking forward to meeting other members! As a side note, I also collect other kinds of dolls, and my collection tends to lean toward Red Riding Hood theme... so I do have a concept of how to make Codename R and Akaoni fit that theme too, but that will require crafting, which I have never done before. I still hope I can find the motivation to go through with these plans!
Hi! Welcome to DoA and the PNW! I'm just a ferry ride away from Seattle There's a lot of good ramen and boba there lol And coffee of course. I like your overall doll collecting theme! Just out of curiosity, did you get the Ever After High Cerise Hood dolls back when EAH was a thing? She would fit right in! Crafting for dolls is a lot of fun! It's one of my fav things about the hobby. We've got a lot of good tips and tricks in the workshop!
*waves from "up north" in the wilds of Mill Creek* Welcome to the land of plentiful coffee and (at this time of year, at least-) ALL THE POLLENS.
Welcome on DOA I hope you post images of your dolls some time ^^ I would love to see a red riding hood theme!
That was a long wait for Codename R! I had a similar-ish situation where my first ordered doll arrived after my second ordered doll. I still count my first order as my first too! I hope you can get your Akaoni a faceup soon so you can enjoy her. It's a lot of fun to craft for these dolls
Thank you for the warm welcome! I am slowly trying my way through all the delicacies of the PNW And yes! Basic Cerise was one of my first ones actually, from even before I moved to the US - I also really really like her comic con exclusive version, but that one was a bit out of reach. I also have a MH Clawdeen in her Halloween outfit My workplace does have a makerspace, and I heard we have 3D printers there - so I kind of want t try that! Or maybe even get my own one at some point. And thank you for the tip, I will definitely check the workshop tips out!
Hi there from British Columbia, Canada! I just joined DoA and hope to make some friends. It's nice to see other doll enthusiasts along the west coast too
They used to hold the PNW BJD Con there in Seattle- lovely city and I loved going to that Con. The gal who used to run it has retired- If it's under new management it may still be going on every year!
