Hello all! I'm excited to be here. I've known about BJDs since the early 2010s and really wanted one back then, but I've only just now gotten into the hobby for real and made the plunge to purchase my own dolls. I'm currently waiting on two from Loongsoul, their Wei Yue Yan (Dan sculpt) and Moon Fairy Si! I also purchased an in-stock Asleep Eidolon Cordelia (27cm - Half Sleeping face) which is shipping to me now, since I was interested in their small scale mature dolls as well and thought it'd be good to experience a different scale. I originally didn't even realize how large Wei Yue Yan was until after I'd bought her because I didn't think to convert the cm to inches! I also thought I'd be content with just one or two but my wishlist has grown to include a few more. I think 5-6 would be my hard limit, but seeing all the different brands with their beautiful sculpts is very tempting... I'm an artist, and I think part of what really draws me to this hobby is seeing how people customize their dolls via clothing or faceups! There are so many different ways to style them, and you can easily switch up a doll's look incase you get bored or love having options. I think once I have all of my dolls in hand I'll really enjoy buying them different outfits to photograph them in. I'd also like to try out faceups eventually, it feels like it'd be a lot different from the kind of art I usually do, which is digital painting. I'm looking forward to chatting with everyone and seeing all the beautiful dolls!
Hello welcome to the hobby! I love loongsoul and asleep eidolon, they are both such lovely companies you will definitely enjoy them!
Thank you!! I hope so, I've been loving the owner pictures I've seen so far from both companies. The wait seems like it's worth it!
Hey, another New Yorker! Welcome! Your wishlist sounds super awesome, by the way. Back when I joined the hobby, I told myself two dolls would be my maximum... and now I'm waiting on the body for my tenth. (I behaved myself for nine years though, and this one's going to be my model for my animation thesis, so it's fine!) May your shipping always be quick!
Welcome fellow New Yorker! I keep trying to tell myself that the 5 I have is my limit because I just can't imagine using more space on my dolls
Hey! It's so nice to see there are some people in the community from NY. You never know with niche hobbies like this! Thanks so much, I hope I can bring them home sooner rather than later. Being able to use your doll for your thesis sounds so cool! I hope it goes well! Being able to indulge in stop motion and other things with these creations is really fun. I don't know if I'd have the storage space for ten, but I can definitely see the appeal of having so many!
Thanks! I'm also concerned about storage space, especially since the dolls that catch my eye are primarily 1/3! Your dolls all look really cute, though, I love how you styled Yui!
Well, I'm keeping my six 1/3 dolls in storage at my dad's house for the moment and my MSD sized dolls have joined me up here. Once we have more space we'll get them all in one spot again. There's members here with 25 or more bjd and it's really cool to check them all out. Also, what kind of art do you do if I may ask?
Hello and welcome! Are you in the NYC area? Check out the meetup section of the forum if you are, or if you aren't. There might be something else in your area.
Ahh, I hope you get enough space to display them all soon then! It's good you have somewhere safe to store them until then. I mainly do stylized painting or lineless art! :] I like drawing a lot of character art and fashion. I am! I'm hoping I can make it to the May meetup. It'd be nice to have a chance to see what the different scales look like in person.
