I most likely should have read a few of these before writing my own but... I guess I like to live life dangerously. Haha. My BJD hobby began 17 to 18 years ago back when I myself was a teen. I managed to get a boy that my mom ordered for me. I actually wish I could remember the brand. I know what he looks like and could never forgot (all my old photos are on a Photobucket account I no longer have access to) followed by a Soom Mini Gem Uyoo. I quickly realized at that time I couldn't afford to keep up with the hobby and ended up selling them second hand online. I think back to that and occasionally feel the tinge of regret. Now that I'm in my 30s with an established career I knew it was time. My first doll this time is a Ringdoll Fortunata. I named her Tajana, something a friend of mine from Twitter came up with. Since then I've bought a couple of other dolls second hand such as a Bluefairy Kyle (named Kai), a Ringdoll Scarlett (named Sybil), and a limwha to you Mari. My two other dolls are a Kids-sky white crystal (named Iris) and a Ringdoll Hua Cheng (still gotta find his Prince). I have a few other dolls on order too! I must say that I'm so happy to be back here in this hobby and it's been such a pleasure seeing everyone's custom faceups and photographs taken of or with their dolls. I'm happy to meet up with fellow Michigan doll parents too! Thank you for having me!
Thank you! I still need to figure out how to post them! Hoping to have some time to get some outside soon.
Hi!! I know this thread hasn't been updated in nearly 3 years, but I'm also in Michigan and would love to get to know more doll friends near me. I'm from the Metro Detroit area myself. I started collecting 9 years ago, 10 years in June 2026. Only relatively recently have I tried to engage with the online community, so threads like these are always nice to see-- even if they're old/somewhat dead LOL. Nice to meet you!
