Hello, from Maine

Aug 22, 2016

    1. Nice to meet everyone,

I've been a ghost in the hobby for a number of years now, and have always refused to consider myself a collector; however, with my second doll on the way and a big glass display case, maybe I am a collector after all. but I have a small collection I enjoy. I used to be friends with a few people who were into BJDs, but I'm no longer in touch with most of them.

I made this post back in 2016 when I was getting back into the hobby more seriously for a second time when I still lived in Maine. I've since moved and am at a different place in my life and in the hobby.

I live in the far northern tundra of New York state now and own a Volks F-15, Conarium Lilith/Eve, and a Napidoll Chesi.

My dolls have traveled quite a ways with me and I enjoy sharing them, even though I've been stagnant with purchases for a while now.

      Nice to meet you all.

    2. Oh man, hi from New Hampshire, welcome to DoA!! :D
always nice to see someone else from new england!

Congrats on your Miho on the way, that's super exciting! Iplehouse was the first company I ever wanted a doll from, but I still haven't gotten one from them yet, i'm such a mess, haha~

Body blushing is a lot of fun, btw, i hope you get good at it!

    3. Welcome to the forum, @Melissa! I'm also a fellow New Englander~ (Come visit us if you're ever in Boston around meetup times!) I think you'll find people here to be super helpful and willing to share whatever knowledge they have. If you're interested in body blushing, you could look around Customization and Maintenance or chime in the discussion list of your favorite doll in the Mini Discussion Forum. You could also check out Newbieland for general Q&A. Hope that helps!

    5. Something in your post stuck out to me - what kind of music do you like? I am 26 and also have tastes that I consider "weird" myself so I am curious if we are into the same type of weird LOL. Also totally wanna see the rocks you collect!

    6. @dreamerdolls Probably not into the same type of thing. I'm familiar with a pretty wide range of music in general and I've listened to about everything at least once, but personal playlist right now is mostly darker blues/doom metal: Psychedelic Witchcraft, Coven, Acid King, Pentagram, Pagan Altar, Year of the Cobra, Burzum, and Drudkh. I also really enjoy electronica like Ladytron, Husky Rescue, Sally Shapiro, Burning Hearts, Still Corners, Marnie, Bunny X

    7. Ah, okay I see. No, definitely different kind of weird, although a few years ago it might have been a very similar weird. But I've moved on from my metal phase, even though at heart I still love everything dark and creepy. I don't consider metal to be "weird" in a bad way, though. I think metal is awesome and badass :)

I know what you mean about the rocks. I took one geology course a few summers ago! Also can be really cool stuff!

    8. At long last I have found another Mainer! I too thought I was alone in this state, good to know that that's not so!

    9. Oh, hey. The fact that there is even someone else who knows what a ball-jointed doll is out in this wilderness is impressive. Nice to meet you.

    12. Anyone still in Maine? I'm in the Ellsworth area. I was thinking of trying to organize a meet up.

    13. Wasn't expecting to see this thread pop up again. I am no longer in Maine, my life has changed significantly since I last posted here.

I live in the frozen tundra portion of New York state now.

I wish you best of luck organizing something in Maine and hope you're able to connect with other people in the hobby there.
