Hello Everyone! I finally got around to creating my account here! I have been trying to connect with other BDJ lovers and Makers this year, joining a couple of Discord servers and over on Instagram. Lastly, I hope to connect over here as well! I came upon the Dream of Doll website in my teens and fell in love with Elf Ducan! I wasn't really sure what BJDs were; I just knew that the DOD dolls and their little background stories really lit a flame in me! I always loved drawing and dreamed of being a 2D character artist, but let's say life happened, and I did every kind of job but creative ones... I am originally from Brazil but moved to Japan after graduating from Uni. I focused all my resources on living here, so I had little time to be creative. I did like to buy a lot of books whenever I had a little money left, so in my book-hunting journeys here, I came across a few BJD-making books and decided to buy them. So, I innocently thought I should make my own BJD with clay since I could not afford them... Let's say that went as well as my 2D artist career, LOL. After settling down for a bit, a few years back, my husband gifted me my first BJD ( Lorina from MYOU), and that rekindled my love for BJDs. That coincided with me studying a new skill during lockdown, 3D sculpting. I felt really comfortable with this medium and decided it was time to challenge my doll-making skills again. But then...I got pregnant and had my baby, who is now a toddler. That certainly delayed my doll-making. But that helped give me more focus to develop my skills, and this year, my son finally started daycare, giving me some free time to get back to sculpting him a digital little brother. XD I am in the late stages of my BJD creation; I did the last 3D printing to joint check a few weeks ago, and I am so happy with how he is turning out! I hope to share him here, as well as my other dolls!
Welcome to the forum! I'm definitely very interested in seeing what your 3D sculpted doll looks like whenever you get around to finishing him and taking pictures
