Hi! My name is Anna, I am from Germany. I am in doll hobby for about 5 years. It's all for me was started with Pullip dolls and ended up with Dollfie Dream. Actually I would prefer to say that it ended up with my big interest for BJD now Honestly I was interested in BJD for a long time, but I was always in doubt about buying me one because of size (if BJD, then I would prefer big one) and many stories about problems with their joints. But. They are damn beautiful. And this is totally another doll level. As I said, I started with Pullip, but changed type of dolls with time for next levels. When I bought my first Smart doll, I sold all my Pullip dolls because they were already too different for me and I couldn't go back to them from Smart dolls - it is totally another area, I needed another inspiration, another ideas for photoshoot, etc. It was like I should totally change my mind every time I went back to Pullip. Now I have nendoroids, 1/6 azone dolls, MDD, Smart doll, Dollfie Dream, but I am working with DD mostly and sometimes with Smart dolls. I am just afraid that if I would buy my first BJD, I couldn't get back to DD and Smart dolls -_- May be this is not so bad too - you always need to go forward. Anyway, sorry for such a long text XD I hope to find here many usefull information for me about BJD and also find good people around!
Hello and welcome! Ball jointed resin dolls are really versatile and are made in small batches and they can definitely be creative and customized into unique art dolls : D I love them! And other dolls also have their own charms and things they are good with. I am sure that the things you love about your other dolls are things you will keep on appreciating. I love BJDs and I am still glad that my other dolls exist Welcome again and happy exploring another neighborhood of the doll hobby!
Hello and welcome Anna I like your creations in your Etsy shop Nice that you are now enriching Den of Angels. I wish you a good time here and lots of joy
Welcome! Wishing you all good things! You're allowed to change your BJD tastes as time goes by. It's okay to love many different BJD styles at the same time! I bought some dolls I thought I would love forever and then found they didn't fit my style, especially over time. They've gone to excited new owners. The main hope is that you have fun all along the way. Happy Dolling!
Hello and welcome! I also have MDD and BJD, They are attractive. The only problem is that there is always not enough money, because different sizes need to buy more accessories XD
Hello german fellow welcome to DoA. ^^ I also started with Pullips and moved then to Bjds guess it's normal to switch through all kind of dolls. I wish you a good time here in the forum.
I think that my problem is I am not a doll collector - If I don't work with some doll I have any more, I prefer to sell it than have it staying at the shelf all the rest time, convert it to the money for my other puppet needs
Exactly the same here! I have/had dolls which I was thinking I would love forever, but with time love faded... However, I believe that a year or two is not so bad for that. I enjoyed these dolls all this time, took a lot of good photos, etc. And for me it's better to see this doll by new owner who will enjoy it as I did, than have this doll on my doll shelf staying useless...
How I feel youuuu! I always need something new for a new photoshoot - clothes, shoes, accessories, any props... I have already about 22 boxes with all for all my dolls. God... I already need to sell at least half of this But still not in the mood to deal with it
Hello and welcome to DoA! I've been following you on Instagram for a while, I'm happy to find you here! Like you, I also started my collection with Pullip dolls, way back in 2017, together with BJDs! My doll taste has changed a lot over the years, I recently moved to anime/vinyl dolls (mainly dolls from Azone Iris Collect series and Obitsu), but I still own the first two BJDs I adopted in 2017 and also three of my Pullip custom dolls! At the same time, few of my BJDs are now with new owners, I've realized that at the moment I like standard MSD dolls a lot (I mean, Volks Super Dollfie and similar) more than the so-called slim BJDs (Minifee, Harucasting, etc, etc). But that doesn't mean things can't change in the future! As you wrote, the main trouble with BJDs are how they pose and move and I admit that in the past I sold beautiful dolls just because they posed like a nightmare! I'm very picky about poseability, ah, ah!
Aww glad to see you here too! Honestly, sometimes I envy those who live with only one kind of dolls all the time. Changing preferences is expensive - literally expensive, because you have to buy clothes and accessories again, but for a different doll format. But on the other hand, this is also a kind of development. For example, I will definitely never be able to go back to Pullip now, because for me my latest dolls (and this is dollfie dream) are a more perfect form of my doll preferences. In a few months I will receive my first BJD and then it will be clear whether I have "evolved" further :'D
@Lutego I know what you mean speaking about to change clothes and accessories! Luckily, my 1/4 girls are roughly the same size and can share their dresses but I remember when I sold my Minifees and I had boxes full of clothes I couldn't use anymore Now I'm curious about your new BJD doll!
@Flaxen Hair Girl lol thanks to you now I know that I can use here @ to find person for message here XD
