Hi! I’m Rose/Rosie/Rosiewalks, pronouns she/her. I’m a thirty-something stay-at-home-mom who moonlights as a reading tutor and linguist, with a variety of chronic health issues, and dolls are my main creative outlet. I pull a lot of my interests into this hobby, including: reading; plants; death rituals; theater; fashion; fandom; spoonie life; circus; organization; and Shakespeare. I was given my first BJD by a neighbor (all documentation & boxes included), who was unable to fix her torso. Thanks to some helpful tips I got here, I was able to glue her inner torso piece back into place and restring her. So now after years of lurking, I finally feel able to participate more fully in this hobby space. I'm looking forward to getting to know folks here and maybe making some dolly friends, as well as learning and making for my girl. I love sleepy faces, so I hope to get my girl a sleepy faceplate. I hope someday to own a few more resin babes, but that will probably be a very long way in the future.
Hello and (officially) welcome! It's always nice to see more people entering the hobby, even if they've been lurking for a long time before doing so! I also lurked for a while between my introduction to bjds and actually joining the forum, so no judgements here! I hope you have a great time here. What doll do you have? And what kinds of dolls are you interested in? (I like the more anime/cartoony style and anthros myself!) There are so many to choose from nowadays, so if you ever feel the need to check out the companies or find out how to do something doll related, this is the place!
I have Doll Leaves Ida! realized I put the doll on my profile but not in this intro  I've named her Drusilla, after the Buffy character I'll make her a profile once she has a wig and clothes. I definitely lean towards exaggerated/stylized dolls -- the top of my wishlist (which will probably never happen because $$$ but a girl can dream) are the Teacup Marionettes by DoDollsDream, MaddyBear Elle (I especially love the ruffled thighs), and YummySweets Lotus
Doll Leaves has some lovely dolls, I'd love to see what you do with her either when she's in-progress and also when she's done! I definitely acquired many of my dolls over time by saving a little at a time in an alternate account, but there are a few I got by being a workaholic, so there's definitely hope! Those are lovely dolls to wishlist too!
Hi there! Nice to meet you and welcome to DOA! That’s so cool that your neighbour gave you a doll and awesome name choice too (also a buffy fan!) Hope you enjoy DOA - definitely have a look at the “styling & crafting” subforum as there are lots of great threads on there ^-^
I have a fashion doll named Miss Edith, so I figured I needed a Drusilla to go with her I will absolutely be checking out the crafting forum, thank you! I'm especially interested in learning to sew a bit better this year -- I have so many outfit ideas.
Yay, hello and welcome ^_^ I am excited to see what you do with Drusilla!! Will her wig and faceup be modeled after the Buffy character as well, or is it in name only? Asking because I’ve done it both ways, hehe.
Just the name, though I do love the character She came to me with a pretty soft, neutral faceup so I'll just keep that for now. I'm debating between a grey/silver wig, and a brown wig with purpleish undertones.
