Hello! c:

Jun 17, 2025

    1. Hi everyone, Teddie here! I am a 27 y/o enby from Italy. I have actually been on the forum for two years and just. never posted :') My love for dolls dates all the way back to my childhood (like it does for many, probably) and it only has grown stronger over time.

I first discovered bjds around 2013-ish through the Rozen Maiden anime. After that i would spend hours on the internet looking at pics of Popovy and Minifee bjds. I became a big fan of Nicolle's Dream on youtube (she used to repaint Monster High customs and do faceups for Minifees at the time).

I only started collecting bjds in early 2021 with my first order being a Mushiyi head by Flower&Junior, months later i managed to hybrid it with a Doll Chateau body and Chrysalis was born (they went a long while without a name, then changed a few before i settled on this one). They are the doll i cherish the most up to date but my collection has been slowly growing nonetheless.

In august 2022 I welcomed my second bjd: Ophelia; A Doll Chateau Cecilia head on a Doll Leaves dream body that i bought second hand on instagram.

In 2023 i got my DoDollsDream Marie: Lilith.

In 2024 i ordered my Coral Reef Mie-Mie, my little goat creature, Ägir and i managed to buy one of my grails the same year(a Doll In Mind Bellosse head, which I only recently ordered a body for). This year i have had three new entries and decided to slow down with my purchases for now :P An itswafflecone Chestnut mini Birdy, a HappyHans Koza head (currently waiting for a body) and an Utsagidoll_coco ChuChu head (also waiting for a body >w<).

I usually document my crew the most on my ig account, @/windup.bear.
Would love to meet some people on here too ^^ Thank you for reading and have a nice day/night ʕっ•ᴥ•ʔっ ♡

Hello Teddie, from Teddy in the UK!!

My love for dolls dates all the way back to my childhood too (although I'm over twice your age, so mine's much futher back!) and my house is FULL of dolls of all types as a result.

I hope you settle in well here on DoA

      Teddy

    3. Awww hello Teddy! :D It's very nice to hear there are people who have been into dolls for this long :) Thank you for the warm welcome!!

    4. Hello Teddie! Nice to meet you! And I think most people who join the forum end up floating around the threads in the background before posting their introductions. I was floating around for a couple of years here before I got my first bjd and started posting. I started with porcelain dolls and monster high as well and now have a large collection of pretty much everything!

I left the hobby for quite a while, only holding on to two dolls. I reignited my passion for bjds during covid lockdowns as I had a lot of time to browse on the internet and really get hooked in. My collection is so big now. Lol.

Do you have any plans for what you want to do next or any projects that need to be done?

    5. Hello! Nice to meet you too c: Yea i checked the recent threads a bit and did notice many dont introduce themselves right away :') It might be a pleasant coincidence that my spike in interest for dolls happened during covid (not like there was much else to do closed inside) and i did order my first head when things were getting better on that front, so i can relate :)

I also tend to have "ups and downs" with the doll hobby as i have long periods of times where im uninspired or enjoy looking at them in my cabinet only or just cycle through some other hobby but I haven't gave up on any of my dolls so far; mostly worried about the hassle of safely selling them >w< so i try really hard to find looks and personality that i love on them :)

At the moment my plan is "simply" getting bodies for my eggs and giving them faceups/ wigs/ names/ general aesthetic, it will probably take me the remaining months of 2025. I have a body and wig on the way for my only SD (the DIM Bellosse) and am still browsing and trying to understand what i wanna do with the other two. What about you? Any plans or projects? :3 Also thank you for the welcome!!

    6. I can relate with ups and downs. Most of the time for me, I get really into a doll I see on the marketplace then end up either with too many unfinished ideas or a doll that I bought on a whim because I had to have it. I have a few dolls still in their boxes because I don’t know what to do with them. I really struggle with clothes and outfits as I don’t have a ton of disposable income to make they look how I really want. I should probably get into sewing so I can make them rather than buy. XD

Only big project on my list is an art head I bought last year. He finally has a body and clothes but he needs a faceup and body blushing. I’ve attempted twice to do it on my own but with so many ideas and not a lot of skill I have kind of given up. I am looking at some artists that I follow on Facebook that I might send him off to. Just need to save up some money. XD

    7. I def recommend sewing! I used to back when i collected MH dolls and then dropped it lol, many times i find myself wanting to impulse buy clothes that im not even 100% sure about, i should also pick it up again :'). As for faceup i've always done mine, i dont like the idea of sending my dolls off + its a way for me to bond with them! If you have the materials I would recommend just trying a few more times, i've redone the faceups for some of my dolls at least 2 or 3 times :') im lucky i enjoy the process of painting them i guess. If you choose to send him off instead i wish you good luck on saving for it!! ^^

    8. Welcome, and I'll check out your Instagram.

    9. As much as I love clothes shopping for my dolls, I have one that I’m really struggling to find an outfit for. I would love for her to have a fantasy style outfit but it’s been hard to find what I want.

I will probably give it another go, I’m just really hard on myself so it’s hard to get motivated. I also think my pastels are wrong for them, they don’t stick very well so might have to buy some better quality ones at some point. I have a few old MH dolls that need some tlc so I might practice on them too.

    10. Me too - there are several sewing threads that I'm on here on DoA that help to keep me on track (when I actually get around to doing the sewing, of course) with lots of encouragement and inspirations from other people's projects.

Yeah, I find with ready made clothes there's often somethign abut them that I don't like and spending all that money on them when they aren't quite what you're looking for is... hit and miss. Sometimes I alter them and then wonder why I just didn't make what I wanted in nthe first place instead of wasting money on somethign I then had to change.

My approach is to have a go at it myself, and if it comes out OK I keep it, but if it doesn't (after a few attempts) I can always wipe it and send it off to be done better by someone. My succes rate is very hot-and-miss, sometimes it comes out nice (nothing special, but nice enough, and sometimes it just doesn't look good at all

I just went and had a nose at your Instagram posts too. I'm guyelfkin there BTW

      Teddy

    12. Ohh yea i definitely love shopping for them too, i get you T-T Good luck with your faceups!! I relate to the being hard on oneself part but try to keep the hobby enjoyable for you :') Maybe you can look up references of actual people's makeup for inspo? I sometimes do that, investing in higher quality materials might also be a good idea if you are already doing many many layers and the color is still not showing very well.
