Hello again...a re-introduction

Dec 12, 2021

    1. Hey, dolly people! So, I'm not exactly new to BJD's—I first joined the hobby as a teenager, which was several years ago (I made this account back then too, and I've been cringing so hard as I scroll through some of my old posts and comments). I was then active in the hobby until 2019, when I sold everything and left, assuming that was that. The hobby had simply gotten too expensive, and I was overwhelmed and ready to be done. I still loved BJD's, and in the years since, I still occasionally found myself scrolling through the secondhand marketplace or wishing I could step back into this world. But I never did.

Fast forward to last week, when I found a Doll Chateau Ada secondhand for a great price. I just couldn't resist—I've always had a soft spot for DC dolls, and this particular Ada just has so much personality and spunk! Plus, tinies just feel less daunting to me than MSDs or SDs, and I'm already working on a story for my 1/6 scale dolls, so I knew immediately that there was a place for her in that story and in my home. I'm now awaiting her arrival...my very first tiny, and my first DC doll! *squeals*

And so, here I am, dipping my toes back into the hobby. It feels strange to be rejoining this hobby as an adult; I feel like a newbie all over again! But I'm glad to be back. My focus this time around is on smaller dolls (YOSD's, tinies, etc), and I want to learn how to sew and make dioramas and props. Looking forward to sharing my projects with you all, and seeing yours! Hope you're all doing well. ❤

    2. Welcome back! I left the hobby for quite a few years and have recently decided to re-join. :) I absolutely love yosd dolls! They’re so small and precious and not too crazy expensive. Congrats on the second hand Ada! I can’t wait to see what you do with her!

    5. Welcome back! I have such a similar hobby story as yours, and came back to the hobby last year collecting YoSDs this time (instead of SDs as in my previous collection.) I've been having so much fun and there's tons to discover when reentering the hobby :) I hope you're over the moon with your precious Ada <3

    6. Welcome back!! Tinnies are so cute, and definitely less intimidating when it comes to space. I think YoSDs are in a really unique balance of small scale but also enough space for good flexibility. I’m glad you found a doll that you like and brough you back into the hobby :3nodding:

    7. @LikablePlatypus Thank you, and welcome back to you, too! And yes, YoSD's are just perfect; I love the size and the price is right. I'm excited about my Ada, I've got lots of ideas floating around in my head for her faceup and style.

    9. @Dayme Thank you! And that's so lovely, I feel like a size change like that can breathe new life into the hobby. I'd honestly never really considered YoSD's before, and now that I'm interested in them, I realize how much diversity there is in this size range. And thank you, I hope so too; she's due to arrive tomorrow, so fingers crossed!

    12. Ahh, I imagine it has! I'll have to do some Instagram stalking sometime and check out your updated crew LOL. Instagram randomly booted my account last year (real tears have been shed :(), but if I make a new account, yours will be one of the first to be followed again.

    13. Welcome back to the hobby! I'm kind of in the same boat, where I started and then left for a while. It's just captivating.

    14. Oh no, that's so sad (and annoying!). Any chance they'll give you back your account at all? :frownyblush:
Anyway I love DC too, and I get the feeling of omg I'm a newbie again, I have to learn all the things! :XD: I hope you'll post some pictures of your new doll/creations once you get her!

    15. Making dioramas and props is really fun. Mini brands spheres have been getting me some decent sized toys for my nappy choo and littlefee. I am really excited for you to get to revive your hobby.

    16. Welcome back! I am also in a bit of a similar situation. I was interested as a teen and came back in my mid 20s and now I am finally waiting on my first bjd to arrive. So many people seem to have returned to bjds, it's pretty exciting!
