Hi everyone! I got my first BJD in Tokyo, at a used store. Someone on the BJD reddit kindly identified my doll as a Volks YoSD Eddie. My mistake is not realizing the body makeup of the dolls, I just liked the face I didn't realize she was anatomically a boy! I also didn't speak a word of Japanese, although I'm sure the shopkeeper tried to ask me if I realized what I was getting when I also bought her a dress and a full set of girl items… I also just ordered Impldoll's Kamara as a birthday gift for myself, and I plan to hand sew flowers onto a dress for her and give her garden fairy vibes. Next on my wishlist is Ann from Gem of Dolls, because I love that rockstar/pop star/Kpop, JPop, Mpop idol look. Here's my Eddie, now Edwina! Album — Postimages
Hi and welcome Your Edwina is so cute. What a fun experience. She looks wonderfully happy. Glad that you did not let that little resin tictac dictate how you dress her. well, even though you didn't know about it anyway, it's not so uncommon as you may think to change the gender of your dolls, or crossdress for fun too. I love how you styled her. The sculpt makes for a really cute girl! Looking forward to seeing your new arrivals too!
If it really bothered you a craft knife an a bit of sanding would fix the issue. But really, once they're dressed it's a detail that really doesn't matter. I have one of my larger girls on a boy body with the "boy-bits" sanded off because the boy body is a better shape for an undeveloped child character than the much curvier girl bodies available in that size. My husband suggested this to me too, because I was a little sad about my misunderstanding and felt a little bit silly! So I'm glad to hear it's normal to change their dressings I think I will keep Edwina as she is — the flexibility might be fun as my collection grows!
{GRIN} I used to have two dolls I called The Dependings. One was DorisOrBoris Depending, the other was WilliamOrMary Depending - who they were depended on how they were dressed at any given time... Teddy
