I'm in the mood to sculpt heads lately... it's good practice! I want to try to sculpt 10. I don't like the one on the right, but I'm pretty pleased with the other two. No ears yet, but I'll do that later, probably when I cut them all open and clean up the insides. They're probably about Orientdoll size. After I get a bit further with the heads, I'll start a body!
Looking really good so far! And the head to the right looks really interesting, I wonder what it'd look like painted. Keep it up, you're very good at what you do!
The one on the right reminds me of a friend of mine. I think once the head is more smoothed out and a bit more symmetrical, it can be a very interesting one. I do like the one on the left best, though. She has a relaxed expression. Do Orientdolls take 5 inch wigs? (I'm not too familiar with them.)
They look really good, Armeleia. It's interesting how all three already have such different personalities. I look forward to seeing how your project develops!
armeleia, I like the left one the most! Great heads overall, need more work, but it's just a start! The right one is also interesting, I'm sure you'll refine her the way it'll have a lot of character.
My favourite is the one in the middle. It looks realistic (i prefer that in bjds) and reminds of a roman sculpture. I particularly like the nose on it and the intense expression, it gives the face personality more than the other two. Good work!
WOw! this is really great work for a creative low. Im working on learning to sculpt my first head in LaDoll. I suffer from depression so I have a creative low everyday . I think you work is lovely and I like all three of the faces because they each have thier own personality. I cant wait to see what you do to them. hugs~patti
Thanks for the comments on them so far! I am still just roughing things in... and practicing. So far I have made 9 our of 10 of my rough sculpts... I'm going to just go through and sculpt a TON of ears soon... And some closer pics… Some are based on actors that I find attractive, some are just from my imagination. One more to go, then I'll probably make myself start on the body.
I love that they are all very different, but easy to see they were all sculpted by the same hand. Soo neat!! You work an Apoxie Sculpt (or similar) don't you? Just curious.
I roughed in my 10th head by the end of November. Here they are, in the order sculpted. First, 1-3. 4-6 7-10 Thanks for the encouragement! It will be awhile before I have time again to sculpt. And yes, I do use the Aves products - these are Apoxie Clay. I really like Apoxie Clay - it's firmer than Apoxie Sculpt, so it holds its shape better when I sculpt and it's also opaque. (I find Apoxie Sculpt is a bit too squishy most of the time and the translucence makes it hard to see details and flaws).
Wow this is really fantastic work! I love the attention to detail and the fact that each head has it's own characteristic. I'm definitely looking forward to more updates!
