Hello! I know this is a long shot, but I'd thought I'd ask. I have a back-issue of Haute Doll, from January/February 2007, and there is a beautiful pattern for a Lolita Kimono and Obi. But, I read in this thread: /threads/feb-issue-of-haute-doll-is-out-discussion-thread.103267/ ... about some changes that needed to be made for this pattern to work. Haute Doll did post corrected patterns, but they have been out of print for years, and therefore, no website with the corrections. I'm curious if anyone might have these corrections saved somewhere - I LOVE this pattern and I really wanted to make it! Thanks in advance!
Usagi32211, posted thus in that thread: "The ones that are labeled as MSD seem to be the SD pieces and vice versa. When I was cutting out the pattern, I thought it was a little odd that the MSD pieces all looked larger than the SD ones, but since I don't have an MSD, I assumed it was because the bodies have different proportions. But after I finished my kimono, it was much too small for my Shall, but fit rather well on a 16 inch doll I have. I used very tiny seams, so I don't think it was an issue of that making it too small. Also, on the piece that's labeled for the SD skirt, it doesn't say that you are supposed to lay the short flat side on the fold, but you need to. " Does that help?
Aaaand @Icarus posted: Hi, I'm the one who created the Kimono-lolita patterns. I just got my Haute Doll and I looked at the pattern pieces and the SD pattern pieces have been re-sized! o_O No wonder they don't fit! Unfortunately they didn't include the inch marker I put on the pattern pieces so I have no way of knowing how much they shrunk them down by. I'm going to email the editor of Haute Doll and see if I can post the original patterns (with the inch marker) for y'all to download. I'm really sorry about the total snafu; I'll see if I can't get it sorted out!
@Valdemagra - Hi And thanks! I did see those posts, but I was a bit confused when later there was a post where there was a link to Haute Doll. I figured there might have been some other issues not covered in the thread that needed to be ironed out, and that's why they posted the updated pattern online, in addition to the posts that you quoted. I will see how it goes in muslin, using the "SD" marked pieces for my MSD girl, and I'll post the results. ^_^ I bought that Haute Doll back issue on EBay about 6 months ago when I found out that there was a BJD pattern in it. And I bought other issues hoping for more patterns. It was still a cool magazine, even though I would have liked more BJD info. The Orbyrarium book from the same publisher is really cool.
For anyone who may need it... I DO have the files for the correction on the SD/MSD lolita kimono patterns. I can email them if needed.
Send me an email address through PM and I'll get them to you. To note, these patterns were saved as GIF patterns for some reason, so you'll have to play with the scaling when you print. There's a 1 inch measure on each image, so it shouldn't be too much of a hassle (I have to do this myself shortly--christmas clothes time.)
