I joined meaning to lurk for information and a very very short while later I had my first boy...now there are 11. I check in every day...aside from my own blog, I reckon this is my most visited site. The doll beauty here always makes me happy.

I can't believe it's been so long since I'd joined- it's hard to remember back to the days when I poured over LUTS' website and tried to figure out the difference between buying a 'Moon' and a 'Moon special'. Thank goodness DOA was here ^.^

I'm relatively new to the hobby, but it's resources like DoA and passionate doll owners that enable me to jump in so easily! I hope to last as long as DoA has -- and to remain here for the 10th anniversary!

I wrote this limerick for the contest, but submitted it too late - but I'll share it here!

In the year two thousand and two,
Den of Angels was born, brand new.
Since then it's become
A dollie phenomenon.

Wow, congrats, you guys! This website is a driving force in the BJD hobby, and it's impossible for me to think of participating in this hobby without DoA. I hope you all pat yourselves on the back today. You deserve it!

The summer of 2007 I fell in love with BJDs...
October 2008 I ordered my first doll...
November 2008 I joined DoA...
January 2009, I finally received my first dolly--hooray!

And now August 2009 I own 4 dolls and a floating head, sold one doll on the MP and bought two of my current darlings on the MP too! A thousand thank-yous DoA for such a wonderful, welcoming, helpful, and fun dolly community!! By far this has been my favorite forum I've ever been a member of, for ANY of my hobbies.

 

Happy happy birthday DOA!!!! Although i joined in pretty late but DOA has become one of my favorite place to spend time online. Thank you for everything and best wishes in coming years~~~

I joined in late 2008, that timeline makes it seem like I've missed so much XD but there is still so much to experience in the future of the BJD world.

I hope DoA keeps on continuing to grow and become even a greater place than it is today!

Well it says I joined in Jan of '05, but I do remember lurking a bit before this. I remember my pal glass_mountain showing me her Dollfies (Hiroshima Chris and Sasha) and trying to explain to me what resin was!

My first bjd order was a Lovelyhouse Shin-Cho, after much careful research (not much to look at back then, especially in English). He was on ebay for about $500. I had no idea what to expect!

When he arrived he was so amazing, but stood around nekkid because I couldn't find any clothes I liked for him and was actually wary of spending a paltry $65 on a Korean outfit I saw on Customhouse (little did I know it'd have been $20 additional for shipping lol). Finally I sold him, I was just too intimidated by his boy-ness and perfection. He wasn't even anatomically correct!!!

Then I got a Sharmin, then a Volks oldskin Sakura, then an Anais2, then a CH St Mina (came with both version heads), then a secondhand MSD Phyllis, then... well you get the idea! I was hooked!!

At some point I was savvy enough to get on YJ and ordered a Unoa Sist kit for $600. A deal even then!

Early on I started painting my own dolls (when my first Luts doll, a BW Chiwoo arrived with ORANGE makeup). I had very positive response! My pinnacle painting moment was when I doll I painted sold for $3600 on ebay. Ah those pre-downturn days ^_~

I went through a goth/vampire phase.... and an elf phase, which I'm pretty much done with. Then a historical/realistic/artsy phase.... now I feel a bit at loose ends, not really seeing what I want, waiting for the next phase to happen.

Sometimes I'm bored, sometimes I'm consumed. But I'm always here! ^^;;

I joined the forum in early 2007 and at the time I only knew of Dream Of Doll. This forum has really opened the world of BJD's up for me. I have talked to so many kind people and look forward to many more years here.

I'm still without a BJD to call my own, but soon it will be remedied! I've been having a blast reading through threads, learning, and joining in the contests here on DoA. Thank you so much for being here to support all doll lovers!

Like others, it is nice we are all here or I would be content with one dolly, partially clothed in rags, and green from lying around in the sun.

And reading through the little time line was very neat & enlightening! (What!! Those are wings on the smilies?? I thought they were ears! ) And I don't think I would've guessed Dollmore as being one of the earlier companies.

Anyway, I bought my first ABJD shortly before joining DOA. I really didn't want to join it since I had joined other forums which had snotty/people with bad attitudes on them. But I really wanted to see more photos...so I signed up and have since fallen in love with countless other dollies and now know there are many many more options to this dolls than I first thought. Not to mention enjoying the "company" of other true dollie enthusiasts who share my passion with no judgement. Thanks to DOA I also know I'm not even the only dollie owner in KS and have gotten to go to several meetups. No wonder I am so addicted and find myself checking DOA atleast once a day!

Hope I'm around to celebrate 10 years!!

 

Wow! What a trip down memory lane! Learned a few things I didn't know, and realized how fast the years go by. I remember the Volks LA store opening like it was just last year or so. And OMG I remember when I was OBSESSED with Dollmore Dean when he first came out. I had photos of him on my wall and wanted him as my first BJD. Haha.

So glad DoA is as successful as it is. What a great community. Never would I ever have thought so many people could make something like this hobby so popular.

So happy birthday, DoA, and thanks for the many hours of entertainment (when I am supposed to be working, lol)!

This site has been so helpful to me, I feel like I've been on here forever (it hasn't even been 2 years yet, what?!). The information, references, tips & everything else (not to mention the people ) have made this my automatic first-stop when I have any doll questions. I'm so grateful that his forum is here - I've met some amazing folks through this hobby, people I hope to keep in my life, no matter where it takes me

You've brought me so much joy throughout the years. Thank you for making my favorite dolls more accessible. I couldn't imagine my life without my favorite hobby, and without DoA - all the access and information and eye candy would never have been available to me.

I still remember the beginning when the forum was mainly Volks, Customhouse and CP's. I can't believe how much the hobby has grown throughout the years and how much DoA has been a part of it's growth.
