Haihai!!! I’m new on here & new to the doll community (tho depends how you interpret being “in the community”, I’ve been following bjd creators/artists/hobbyists for at least 12 years, and had many fashion dolls my whole life, even attempting some faceups on them). I’ve started thinking seriously about saving up to buy my first resin doll soon (probably this spring/summer) & figured now would be a good time to get more hands on with the online bjd community, aka make an account here!! I’m currently thinking I’ll want a Huajing Yuzhi as my first doll, but I might hybrid her with a more anime style head. I’ve joined my local BJD group & will probably attend a meetup soon where I can see other peoples dolls irl which may sway me another direction. About me: My name is Zeev, I’m a 27 year old uni student, I used to be a tattoo artist, and I’m currently an anime artist (tabling at cons/boothing at markets & taking digi comms). Outside of dolls my biggest hobby is cosplay which I’ve been doing since ~2011! I also love video games, making press on nails, & doing oshikatsu with my kuchipatchi (tamagotchi) collection :3 Overall I prefer anime style mature girl dolls, & I hope we can be friends!
Hello Zeev! Welcome to this specific corner of the doll fandom. I just got my first anime-adjacent doll head and am still thinking about how to paint them. Coming from a cosplay background sounds like that could be very helpful in designing outfits and or costumes for your future dolls if that is a thing you are interested in. This website is not super fast but is a good collected archive of resin doll specific info. I recommend the Workshop tab as a place to go for so much good information on all the different ways people have gone about customizing their dolls, and the Reference and Galleries tabs for info on doll creators and fun doll photos respectively. Welcome again and hope you have fun looking around!
Welcome to the hobby. As someone who has been in the hobby for18 years it has been amazing! I have made life long friends and have had the privilege of owning some amazing bjds. So many talented artists in creating these dolls as well as talented people who have created their faces, clothes and more. Enjoy the learning process and don't be afraid to ask questions. Be careful with your money and understand that a finished do by someone is easy to fall in love with, it takes time to find the doll you will love for what you created with it. Good luck.
Hello! Yes I think my experience with wigs will help me execute lots of the ideas I’ve got so far, as well I’m pretty decent with sewing, though at the moment I don’t have a sewing machine. We’ll see which skills end up translating for dolls. Thank you for the tips!! I read the entire respirator faq and I’ll work my way through the others you suggested in the coming months in preparation for my first doll ♡
Thank you. I got it from my son, we used to watch anime movies and shows together when he was in high school and college. When I started in hobby I used names for my dolls from those shows.
Ah I’d love to share it! My art socials are “4444o98” on most platforms (twitter, tumblr, vgen etc) but my tattoos arent on that one. If you’re interested I can DM that @ ! I’d love to see yours as well!!
