Hello all, though I have only made a few posts so far, I figured the best way to get into the community is to jump in with both feet, like a big puddle. :3 So here are some things I'm working on. My upcoming BJD 'company' (I hesitate with this word since it's basically me and my cat, who 'helps' by walking through my piles of clay dust...) is based on the concepts and materials of Alchemy, as practiced no later than 1890. There are a sort of plot and setting that go along with the dolls... the experience of purchasing them will be a little more mystical, so to speak, than the average asian BJD store. I am almost ready to release the first two heads and some magnetic animal parts; its a beginning. But I have been working on a 67-70 cm male body to release once I have a few heads out for sale, and will be making mythological animal parts, similar in idea to Soom's MD parts, to attach to this human body. My aesthetic runs to the realistic when at all possible. So with that explaination in mind, my human line and fullsets are designated by the genus 'Homunculus', or 'H.', while my mythological beastie parts and fullsets will be genus 'Eidolon' or 'E.' The individual names of the sculpts are materials from Alchemical practice. So after all that tealdeer.... H. Aurum: Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us H. Rebis: H. But keep in mind none of this is perfectly finished yet. Thanks guys!
I cannot see the images for H. Rebis. (I can see all the other ones though) Such masculine face! I LIKE them!! One suggestion... For such realistic proportions, I would suggest making the neck of the body a little shorter and thicker to go with the masculine jawlines you have. Right now, it looks like that head was not meant to go with that body in terms of neck proportion. Is one of them supposed to look like (yummy sexy) Karl Urban?? I sees him in your background.
I especially like your mouths and chins. Very nice guys! The torso is wonderfully detailed too. I was wondering about the Karl Urban pictures too.
Rebis pictures seem to be working today? They werent a couple days ago... weird. : / Miss Pygmalion: Thank you, and yeah the neck does look a bit long... I tend to oversculpt things a little bit so that I can scale back when needed... I think I just left it instead of scaling back. ^_^;; In addition, the Rebis head does not have an appropriately sized neck hole, it is just perched on the neck, really... so until I finish the neck holes there may not be a clear impression of how things will 'actually look' when finished up. Anasthasia: Thank you very much. ^_^ I aspire to make my style something recognizeable and unique in the BJD world. Alewife: Thank you... I have been getting a lot of positive feedback on the mouths. *L* I have a thing for nice lips myself, so I think I get a little specific with them. PS: Yes, I use 'inspiration faces' which I find attractive.... and Karl Urban is one of them. X3 He is my inspiration for H. Antimonium, the undefeated dark knight, of sorts. I try not to make my sculpts look EXACTLY the same as the inspiration faces, cause thats no fun.... But I overhauled H. Antimonium a couple days ago because I didn't find the proportions to reflect sexy Karl enough. *L*
Somehow I completely missed this thread before. I love the muscling in your torso. I can't wait to see what you do with your arms and legs. I am interested to see what you end up with for the knee joints especially. I'm hoping to start a body soon and have really enjoyed watching how others have developed their own joint structures and ways of working t he mechanical aspects into the aesthetics of their sculpts. I won't be able to get your realistic muscling (actually I'm really envious of that, LOL) but I'm hoping to make joints at the ribs and hips that are a bit different than is normal... and maybe I haven't seen it before because it will FAIL and I will be sad, especially if my anatomy comes out half as well as yours.
Very impressive! Your mouths do seem to be creeping up slightly on the left side, but it could just be me. (their right, our left) The torso is really amazing. I love the musculature and grace it has.
Oh, wow that body is supremely gorgeous! Reminds me of the Limited Doll from SOOM that was an Egyption god. So beautiful! Keep going!
