Guu Dolls

Sep 11, 2015

1. I recently stumbled across a bjd company called Guu while I was checking out Stacy's Pink Ocean's website. I'd never heard of them but I like their 1/3 size female body and am considering it for a new head that I have on order. Does anyone have a Guu doll? If so, how do you like it? Has anyone heard anything about the company?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

2. they're a small chinese co., here's their weibo http://weibo.com/guudoll - I picked up a Mei Lu 2nd hand on ebay earlier this year because I wanted her body for another head. Her company face up looks great in person. Poses well and is very nicely made. For the official taobao price, and I see they now make boys - yeah, I would get more for if I needed extras. (especially if it really takes them around 30 days to make).

3. I've seen them on ebay and someone in my country oder one. As far as I know they're nice posers ;) I'd love to get one of their sleeping girls one day <3

4. I've got one Guu girl body I bought a year ago or so from Jeeryama on ebay.
It poses well, it is nicely sculpted (except for the hands and feet which are not very defined) and feminine, but it is pretty small so I guess it would be best to hybrid with small 1/3 heads.
For example, the fit is nice with my Elfdoll Sian (this head is one of the smallest 1/3 I own), but is definitely too small for most of my other floating female heads.
The normal skin is on the yellow side too (I can take some comparison pics if need be !).

5. oh, that's good to know, @Marlequeen, cos I was just looking for something rather petite (around sd10) so it's awesome they're not too big:) If I may ask you: I'm quite concerned, though, about the lack of tigh joints - is she still able to pose nicely in that area?

6. i heard their pure normal skin and pure white skin is matched pretty well with volks . so i planned buy a girl body that i can hybrid with volks dwc-02 . :XD:

7. Does anyone have any photos showing the 1/3 body or the resin color?

8. yes please :3nodding: i'd like to see too :wiggle please share ur guudoll 1/3 body

9. Anymore thoughts on Guudolls? I'm quite loving Nao Naixu's face sculpt and have a feeling she might be "the one" as a more affordable but appealing first doll. There are some very cute owner pics of her if using the Chinese characters of her name when online searching. But it's worrisome buying a doll from a mostly "unknown" company, can't locate much owner feedback on the web thus far.

10. Can someone please show me some resin color comparison pictures?
I'd like to make a hybrid with a spirit doll body, but I couldn't find anything about Guu's resin match :( (I'm interested in normal skin)

11. Here is girl body >> Channadda Preedeewong | Facebook

And this is my girl name Melcia (Nao-Naixu NS)

I'm very satisfied with Guudoll. Doll are well made, lovely face and no seem line.

12. @panicle Thank you so much for posting your Nao-Naixu she is so beautiful! May I ask is Melcia in normal skin or white skin, and is she wearing default faceup and eyes, if not what color random eyes did she come with? I love this sculpt, just about on the verge of buying her.

13. She's in normal skin, wearing NYX glass eye (Guudoll didn't sent any eye with her) , and faceup made by me. ^^

• x 1
14. I ordered Nao Naixu from an agent of Guudoll, I'm both scared and excited. The wait seems to be two months. I'll be sure to post a box opening thread when she arrives.

15. Congrats, pammla!
I would love to see a real review of this body. I want to see how the posing is. Mainly how much movement is there in the torso?

I have some samples from them of the PS normal, PS white, and white resin. Once I can get some decent light (my photo lamp broke :(), I will post some pictures.

I want to eventually get two of these bodies to hybrid with my floating heads Fairyland heads. Both heads are way pinker than the rest of my dolls, and I want one of them to be an older sister to one of my dolls, but it turns out the normal color Guu resin will go great with my older Luts dolls. Now I just need to find a faceup artist I like that will be able to color match my head to the body.

The other head, I am waffling on if I will get a custom tan body for her or a grey skin one! Turns out Guu will do resin matching, so we can hybrid all the heads!

16. Hi, just popping in to say I got my MSD Verona sculpt from Guu doll a few weeks back. It took them 3 weeks to make her and around 3-4 days for her to arrive :)
She is absolutely gorgeus, and I might post a body review of her sometime when I get back from my trip :) (Though its not the SD body, it might still be interesting ;) )

17. Just stumbled on this company. Man Naixu is like... getting to me :P I don't usually like cutey doe eyed anime types, but I really like her for some reason. I love all the owner pics and custom faceups I've seen, more than the company one, I think with some heavy eyebrows especially she comes alive. I don't love the Guu body though; wonder if she would fit on any Fairyland bodies....

Edit, seems like Feeple65 might work, they are both 9.5cm necks, but all I've got now is a Feeple60 Moe which is 8.4cm. Hmmmmmmmm

18. You could always make a filler for the neck hole if needed. This tutorial was for adapting a MNF neck to another body, but the concept should work for a doll head with a larger opening than needed for the body you are putting it onto.

19. Thanks! I might just risk it. I don't have much experience with hybridifying, so I wasn't sure how close it needed to be for something like that to work reasonably well -- or for the actual head and body sizes to match well.

20. Hi everyone !! I want to share with you feedback about my doll. I ordered the body through Alice collections in a winter event.About a month later the body was ready.
I bought the body for Little monica Roselyn head. The head on the body looks great. As for me, it was excellent hybrid. The colors are similar, but I left a head in the sun to remove the pink pigment..The size and proportion looks perfect.I love this body )) :D:love
BUT THE BODY HAS A TERRIBLE QUALITY!!!
The whole body is in terrible scratches and bubbles.
It seems that I have not bought a new body. I was very upset.
Also, you can look at my flickr some poses and more pictures with damages.
And sorry for my bad english.:sweat

21. I can take pictures of white skin

22. [IMG] They sent me pictures when inquired about their skin colors. They only showed me normal skin and white skin. Do not buy from this company. ugh, actually i'm just personally annoyed at them for ignoring my message. Very rude.

23. Odd.. when I inquired about resin colors though Stacy's Pink Ocean, I was able to get samples for only a small shipping fee which will be deducted from the cost of my order if I place one.

As for the bad quality resin, I would ask AC about it. I had an issue with a doll I got from them and they were very responsive and helpful.

24. Hello, guys, I'm planning to buy their 60 cm body to hybrid with my Little Monica white skin. In Alice Collection's, Guu doll has 3 skin options, the normal, white and pure white. I inquired Alice about it and she says Pure white is paper white. I was wondering if it can match LM ws

25. I have samples! I cannot get photos today as it is cloudy and I have very poor lighting in my house AND I still need to replace my photo light that broke... BUT I can tell you the pure white is a good match for my newer Dollchateau. It is also whiter than any off my WS Soom dolls (though to be fair, my newest Soom resin is three and a half years old).
The regular white actually has a bit of color in it, and could pass for a very pale normal skin color if only compared to the pure white. It is darker than all my white resins (save for those that are very old and yellowed).
Normal skin is a very good match for my older Luts/CP dolls.

I will try to get photos for everyone as soon as I can. :)

(Oh, and I had a nightmare about ordering a Guu body thanks to Danone. Dreamed that she came way worse than Danone's photos.. I was thinking, "I can fix this with a bit of sanding.. maybe a hot water bath to fix the dents", then I turn the body over and there are huge chunks missing from her shoulder blades. Like a two inch by one inch wide crater that was a quarter inch deep!)

26. I was thinking of hybriding my Sarubia ws head to Guu doll. So can Pure ws work?

27. I bought pure white. But white skin from Little Monica is pinkish. So I left the head in the sun, until the pink color is gone. As you can see in the photos, the colors fit well.

28. Oh I see thank you <3

29. I didn't know Guu Dolls had a thread here!! : O

I have Nao-Naixu (NS) head on Fairyland Feeple70 body. Compared to old Fairyland resin is quite a bit yellower than the old body. I also had her a short while on Fairyland Feeple60 Moe body and even though new fairyland is pretty pink, the shade difference was not that visible to my eyes : ) Decent hybrid difference that can be fixed with a bit of blushing!

I also had the body and I think that she posed decently. I'm always a bit picky about dolls if they don't come with mobility joints so that was a deal breaker for me, but other than that the body was really nice! I liked the quality from head to toe and I had no issues with scratches or bubbles : )

Sorry to spam, but here is my girl ^^

30. By the way, is her chest large or medium size?

31. It is small chest ( as mark in Alice collections )

32. Hello, since there are not many owner pictures of GuuDoll dolls, I decided to make a little review. I won't go into all details, I will just pinpoint things that got my attention and weren't mentioned already.
I ordered GUU 60cm Tofil via Alice's Collection in normal skin.

• I love shape of head and body. Color is also nice.
• Quality of details is bit lower. Whole body seems to be sanded (I haven't received doll with sanded of seam lines, so I don't know how is it supposed to look like). You can see "scratches" if you look closely but it's not visible in most of pictures.
• Material smells bit different than my iplehouse YID boy and kind of feels more fragile.
Posing ability is awesome except for two problematic points
- head (It didn't want to stay up. I helped the head with hot glue and it's much better. If you look at the shape of neck, I guess it's understandable why it doesn't want to stay up without help of hot glue)
- elbow double joint (Lower arm is snapping to straight position. As you can see in picture, lower part has wedge shape and is supposed so fit into groove in counterpart, but it slips out quite easily. He was strung really tightly and snapping joint caused little crack on lower arm.)
• He has double jointed wrists with mounted s-hook (see pictures), so if you want to switch to jointed hands, you will need spare pair of S-hooks.
• Pair of nice glass eyes was attached, but no eye putty, so make sure you have some ready
• If you were trying to find head circumference, it's 23 cm and Alice's Collections' 1/3 wig fits perfectly.

Update: 14.7. - as I mentioned below, I was concerned about crack on his arm - I have explained situation (sent pictures and videos) to Alice and she contacted Guu Doll for me and they sent me new part (right arm) and also included left arm and middle parts!
They said it was probably bubble or something similar, so I guess regual quality arm should withstand occasional snapping.
I have ordered Doll Legend 1/3 normal yellow jointed hands for him and they match his skin quite well.

In my opinion Doll Legend 1/3 normal yellow hands fits perfectly :) (for size&proportion comparison - next to him is iplehouse normal skin YID boy)

33. I had the same problem. The company agreed to change me the most damaged parts - this is the torso.

34. That's good to hear! Honestly, I wasn't bothered by sanding, it's really barely visible (at least in my case). I didn't find any details that would bother me that much. But I was more concerned about that crack, I wonder if they are willing to replace it when it gets worse or at least let me buy just that part?

35. You should write to them about this problem until it is too late. I ordered through Alice, they helped me in the negotiations with the company.

36. What does Guu doll NS match with? I was thinking of getting a Little Monica Yuria head in NS.

37. Hey everyone! I love the Guu Doll sculpts and have fallen in love with Nao-Naixu, but I noticed that in most photos of her blank head and in owner photos, the right side of her face is distinctly larger than the left side. It almost looks swollen (example here). She's the cutest SD girl I've ever seen, but that cheek is starting to put me off... do any Naixu owners have opinions on it? Does it bother you? Do you not even notice, most of the time?

38. Hi there! I've been looking at guu doll and I love their girl bodies, but looking through all your posts is worrying me about their quality! x)
In any case, does anyone know if their bodies would work with a zaoll head? Thank you :)

39. As for me, the head is tiny for this body. But in the wig, he looks good. Also I think the neck looks short. The head moved only left and right and bit forward, back does not move.

40. @Danone Thank you so much, that's extremely helpful! :)
Do you think modding the size of the neck would help with movement at all?

41. @Viivi You're welcome ) )
I do not know anything about this.
perhaps it would be better if you wear a neck protector. It's a little lengthen the neck and move will be better.

42. Ahh I see, thank you again for your help! :)

43. I'm currently waiting for one of the 58cm girl bodies, as I ordered it about a week and a half ago from Alice's Collections.

I'd love to see more owner pics of these girls, and also any more resin-match photos - especially, with Volks resin. :)

Thanks!

BTW, is there a waiting-room thread for Guu Doll?

44. I received my first SD girl, a blank GuuDoll Elena two days ago and took BO shots including a photo of her next to my Volks SD13 boy body.

[IMG]GuuDoll BO: with Hamster by Sarah, auf Flickr

Photos can be found in my flickr but I will post a real BO including short review soon.

btw: between ordering and shipping passed 6 weeks. very short O__o

45. OMG!
She looks awesome! This post is so timely, as I'm waiting for one of these bodies too!

Wow! Those mobility joints really make a difference for extra posability. Very nice!

How old is that SD13 boy body you've got her posing with? I'm just trying to see if the Guu NS resin will match up with a newer Volks head...

46. @miffimifster
The Volks SD13 body is from 2005/2006. The GuuDoll normal skin is on the pinkish side.

[IMG]GuuDoll BO: size & colour comparison by Sarah, auf Flickr

I will take some close up resion comparison shots with Volks, Fairyland and Lati normal skin during the next days (I don't own that many dolls, most are white skin)

I am glad I could help ^__^

47. Great to know!
The 2005-06 resin should be darker and yellower than newer Volks resin. They may match yet...

Looking forward to more pics and comparisons.

48. I got my NS Guu Doll 58cm girl body (with mobility thigh-joints and heel leg parts) just almost two weeks ago. I did a little box opening thing for it.

I've hybridized this body with a Volks SD13 Rinon head (NS), and thought I'd share a pic of how nice she looks all put-together:

The colour-difference is very minor.

Plus, I've give her a pair of Little Monica hands, as I'm not particularly fond of the Guu Doll girl hands. :)

Edit: Bit of a problem with pic links today... You can click into my Flickr, to see the photos.
Also this video has a bit about the Guu Doll body hybridization with the Volks head, and a bit of a small review of issues I found.

However, I really love the Guu Doll girl body, despite the issues. I think it's very elegant-looking, feminine and cute. I love its ability to slouch. :)

49. miffimifster she looks lovely! And your video review of the body is also very helpful.

Stacy's Pink Ocean just put up a new Guu Doll body, the 68cm boy: Guudoll 68cm Boy Body - stacyspinkocean.com

I find it really lovely, though I will wait for better photos. I assume these photos are temporary, as Guu Doll usually has very professional photography and these look like cell phone snapshots with the body literally on some kind of old towel. :sweat

It looks like the arms might be double jointed. The knees also seem to have a different joint design from the 60cm range Guu Doll bodies. And the price is much higher. Up to now Guu Doll has been in the budget bjd range, but at $432 regular price for just the body, that's equal or more than the cost of most mid to high end bjd bodies.

I'm really loving the sculpting on this body, very graceful and lean and with skillfully rendered musculature (it has been exasperating me to no end how many thin/tall male bjds I see with weird muscles, like chocolate bar rectangle abs or an excess of veiny detail without actual anatomical basis; buff/tall bodies are typically better sculpted, but I prefer how the thin figures look in clothing so, sigh, this is a bit of a pet peeve of mine). Hoping to see photos of the back, of the body sitting, knees bent to furthest position, elbows fully flexed, and so forth, so I can make a decision.

• x 2
50. No problem ! Glad it was helpful . :)

Thanksfor the link to the new 68cm body! It looks nice, but considering the quality issues with GuuDoll's joints and general finishing of their dolls , I think this new price tag is a bit high... I guess we'll see...

51. Thank you for the link! This new body really looks awesome! It seems they improved elbow joints. And neck also looks more round and those hands..... beautiful!

I would also like to see higher resolution photos and more positions of knees and elbows, neck circumference also would be nice detail to know XD. (I couldn't find it.)
Aww, I want this body :love :XD:, shame I have no money at the moment :(

52. Yeah, I agree about quality versus price being an issue. The scratch marks and rough areas on the resin that multiple customers have reported are something one might accept as a tradeoff for a cheap price, but at a market average price that's a dealbreaker.

That said, the more I look at it the more I do like the form of this body. It has such an elegant silhouette...

I am going to wait for more photos and also for this body to show up at Guu Doll's taobao site. If I decide to buy this body, I'd rather buy from them directly and skip the dealer markup, which is pretty significant. For example, Stacy's has Guu Doll full girl doll at $340 regular price. The exact same doll direct from Guu Doll on taobao is $223.48. Even if you use a proxy such as Basetao which charges a 5% fee, your total from taobao is still only $234.65. And shipping from the dealer is no cheaper than shipping through taobao as all of them are shipping from China.

Links to compare:
Qiancao -GuuDoll 58cm Girl. - stacyspinkocean.com
GUU DOLL官方店铺 原创 BJD娃娃/sd娃娃1/3女娃 素头裸娃 浅草

So, I am hoping this body is actually around $300 or less from Guu Doll, which is low enough that I'd be willing to risk the uneven finish. But they have not listed it yet so who knows.

53. Miri, I have the girl body in white skin. I bought it to hybrid with one of my other heads. I actually bought her on sale from Jeeryama. If you keep an eye out, the dealers often have sales going on through out the year and you can often pick these bodies up for under $300 during one of their sales.

Regarding the quality issues, I actually didn't find any scratch marks or rough areas at all on mine. The body arrived about 2-3 months ago. Everything about it is pretty much perfect. I didn't even know about quality issues when I ordered a Guu doll body and mine really doesn't have any.

54. Does anybody know if the white (not the pure white which is said to be paper white) matches Dollshe Fresh? As the neck is 10.5cm, I wonder whether it could be used as a body for the older 18M heads such as Aramis, Bernard etc...

55. @shirahime, that's good to hear. Perhaps the issues with scratches and such are a temporary problem that they will have fixed.

56. Just checked Alice's Collections , and they have the Guu Doll reduced prices going right now too. They don't have the 68cm boy body listed yet though, but I'm sure that if someone asked them for it, they would make it available. Their service is pretty good.

57. Anyone know how well the WHITE Guu doll resin matches with Peakswoods WHITE???

58. Does anyone own the 68cm male body? I like the look and looks like a decent poser, but some experience would be great. :)
Also have anyone bought from Guu dolls taobao? If yes, how smooth was the whole process?

59. I have resin samples and I will take them with me to a big meetup in April and try to find as many matches as I can for people. :)
