Hello, I am Cas! I joined DoA just recently, but I've been interested in bjd for many, many years. I think I saw my first one sometime in the early to maybe mid 2000s? I unfortunately spent many years feeling like loving dolls was childish, and that I didn't deserve to even want something that nice. But I have finally come to my senses in my late 30s and am making the choice to embrace joy and make room in my life for things that make me happy - from adopting a cat to finally indulging teenager me and getting myself a beautiful doll of my own! I recently ordered a Maskcat Olivia as my very first bjd and am very excitedly waiting for her to arrive! Over the years, I've developed some skills in sewing, crochet, knitting, weaving, and beading/jewelrymaking by making my own handcrafted soft dolls - a private little hobby that I've kept to myself for a few decades now because I thought that it didn't seem like a "mature" hobby for an adult to be making things like that - but I think it will pay off with being able to make a nice all-custom wardrobe for Olivia! I'm excited to be here, and loving all the great posts! It's a really interesting hobby with so many facets, and it's great to have so many potential new skills to learn!
Hello and welcome! I had a similar dilemma about getting into BJDs, but have been enjoying it since getting into it -- I hope you love your Olivia once you get her!
Same thing happened with me, but I’m newly 30. Glad we bit the bullet Maskcat Olivia is so beautiful.
Hiya! I also had to get over myself to start playing with dolls again lol. But I think the reward of being happy wipes all the worries away. Glad you made it here and I hope you're just delighted with your new doll
One of my favorite things about the doll hobby is all the crafts we can learn. I love to see what people do with their dolls. Congrats and welcome!!
