"greek sculpture" doll

Jan 11, 2015

    1. Hi!

      I thought of making a new doll that would be like a greek sculpture but of course it didn't turn out as planned XD

      Here's her face:

      And the body:

      Now I'm thinking about joints in knees and elbows: should they be double o single? would it be a good idea to make the knees as the elbows on minifee dolls? her legs seem to be too thick to make the usual kind of double joint... :/ hmmm, so many doubts again.

      Also still deciding about the hip joints, probably the ball will be on the body part...

      There's still so much to be done!

    2. Such a delicate profile ;w;
      You're up for a charming start, that's for sure.
      Too thick? I think not? Of course you could use the alternate where there's the ball joint on the knee and a semi circle between the knees too, or variations for it, if you still feel like the "good ol'" peanut wouldn't do a good job

    3. Thanks, Sleep of Reason!
      I don't want to use the peanut because then I'd have to cut her knee somewhere in the middle and I don't want that. There are knees that have two balls, one above and another below the knee cap but that works fine for very thin long legs. On her leg it just doesn't fit right (occupies too much space in proportion with overall length of the leg). That's why I made that comment about her legs being too thick ;)

      Uf, still can't decide XD I just wonder if she could stan well with that sort of joint of circle plus semi circle... or ball in the knee and then a hidden one underneath that could be pulled out for extra movement.

    4. Wow! Her face does look like that of a greek sculpture, and her breast too. I'm not sure about the hips: it seems to me they are a bit too wide for the effect you are trying to achieve, but she's looking really good and unique so far :love.

    5. I see what you mean. Still, the SDGr girl body has a peanut and a cut that goes on the way down following the knee circle, which imo is still a very graceful joint cut
      In the last case, you could try a single joint. Some of my personal collection owe nothing against my double jointed dolls in terms of posing

    6. Wow! What a gorgeous doll! By the way, I've seen your dolls on Etsy and I must say they are absolutely stunning. :) Keep up the good work!
