Granado Tiny Doll Discussion

Apr 21, 2018

    1. Aaw. You guys got me excited, but mine still hasn't updated. Oh well. Congrats on the update!

    2. I have an ETA of Monday for my first boy. Yahoo!

      • x 1
    3. Me too!!! :D

    4. YAY!!!!!!

    5. Here is my little guy wearing Ken clothing. He's obviously bigger around the shoulders and chest which doesn't really fit for shirts.
He's wearing the blue shirt open and the cute under-tank is not closed in the back.
      The pants fit well.

His feet are rather large and It would be troublesome to find shoes that will fit him.

( I have a Ken, an slim male obistu and a Soom FL Auber if you want me to post some comparisons. )

    6. Hee hee, belly shirt! Love the kitty heads. :kitty2

The post office says my Lucifer is in town and that he'll turn up at my door tomorrow! I have a fairly extensive collection of 1/6 clothes of various sizes, so hopefully I'll be able to find something to fit him. I'll let the thread know how that goes.

    7. heck yes please and thanks for comparison shots!!!! I'm hoping to find one sometime down the line, so any pictures next to others his size would be great!
(feet too, please, let's see those giant foots next to others, I wonder if Newline boots would fit him)

most dolls I have ever had in this size need socks and their feet still have room in Newline boots, here's a quick picture of the soles with measure tape

    8. Yes please post them. I am getting excited seeing them. Mine should be here Monday. I'm taking it that the Ken shoes won't fit because they are only 4cm outer measurement.
Please post and link to a photo gallery when you do. I'm all starry eyed.:fangirl:

@DaisyDayes My Ringtoy K (32cm) has a 5cm outer measurement for his shoes but his are made for peg feet. So knowing about these is great.

    9. I say 'tomorrow' and not an hour later he's at the door! OH, WELL, WON'T COMPLAIN

I need to bolt off to the dentist's right quick, so I don't have much time to do a thing, but here is a super-quick phone snapshot of my tan boy:

I also waved him at my pile of things and came to the following conclusion: he is almost exactly the same size as the Lumedoll Light muscle body, which means that he is sized almost perfectly for certain brands of action-figure clothes! The Newline Miniatures shoes look like a good fit - a tiny bit oversized but probably not very much - and clothes and shoes by companies like Triad Toys and TTL Toys/Toys City will also fit him quite nicely. I tend to buy mine off eBay. :)

    10. *fist pumps* YES! I was hoping for that! all my 1/6 dolls are based around my LumeDoll Koit, so if they don't look good around him, they don't get to stay and play!

    11. Congrats @Gallye!!

My shipping day has been moved up to Friday! Yay!! I bet @SteamWitch will have hers sooner than Monday, too.

    12. I can hope but mine must (thanks to anthrax scare of 2001) go through the North Houston sorting house, aka intermittent black hole.
If I'm lucky, it's known to happen. :clover

    13. Phew, okay, I made some time to sit down and mess around with my Lucifer. No pictures this time - the household is asleep and I don't want to wake anyone up - but a few observations:

      - 6mm eyes or smaller unless you're very willing to bevel forever. The doll has relatively deep eyewells and 8mm eyes wouldn't even go in. 6mm eyes from DreamingTreeStudio fit like they were made for the doll, though. They drop right in.

      - The upper body does very well in action-figure-sized shirts, as I mentioned above. A jacket from TTL Toys fit like it was made for him.

      - The lower body CAN wear action-figure pants, but the fit is less good: the pants were baggy, a couple of millimeters too short, and way too big in the waist. Lucifer has skinny legs! A pair of Ken-doll pants was almost perfect, except that I couldn't get the tiny ankle cuffs over Lucifer's big fat heels. :doh

      - Those big fat heels are kind of a problem, honestly. A pair of shoes from ACI Toys fits perfectly and looks to be absolutely in scale... except that the heels make it so that the opening juts out a couple of millimeters from the ankle! It looks really weird. Granted, it'd probably be mostly hidden under a pair of trousers.

      - Newline Miniatures boots work reasonably well, although I'd recommend socks there.

      - Size 3/4 wigs, yep, yep. The wig I have on my Unoa Light Azurite was a perfect fit.

    16. [IMG]Glasses for the nerd by SteamWitch, on Flickr
Azone Pure Neemo etched metal glasses fit but the arms are too short. That is okay since I don't want to scratch the resin. I used the smallest shrink tubing I had. Yellow- ugh. I covered the ends now it goes past his ears and won't scratch his head. I may add some protective glue or gloss acrylic to the nose piece for protection too.
I am looking at some plastic sunglasses on amazon and my 'want' list is growing. I have tons of fabric and patterns so I should sew instead of spending more money.
While it is true that the normal boy bits show the magnet on the body when installed, it isn't enough for me to dislike the whole doll, because it is amazing. I had planned on blushing the sculpted pubic hair in the first place so I'll just add the body magnet in the blushing process.

      • x 3
    17. @SteamWitch I don't think mine has sculpted pubic hair?? It looks like little scratches that are barely there. Lol. Can I see a close up of your guy's?

    18. Yes, here it is though it is hard to capture in a photo. I'm sure it was probably sanded down a bit during his readiness from 3D printing.
But Granado has always sculpted pubic hair.

    19. I have started blushing him and the gap is a problem even with blushing. I will also post the problem on their Q&A with photos when I get him all done.

After looking at it closer I think the magnet should have been pushed in lower. I'm considering removing the magnet from the boy bit and making the hole deeper so it sits in the right position. It's such a tiny piece and the resin is thin, I don't think sanding a magnet down is a good thing.

      @Dark Angel
I took out the top magnet and it looks okay now I'm going to try to carve out some resin to push it further down.

    20. I'm trying to blush him but he is so tiny. This is my first try. I'm going to seal him when weather permits and leave him like this for a little while. Just so I can play with him. But I'm not happy with him like this - not by a long shot...

    21. Love the body blushing!

    22. Thanks, he is fun to work on but golly he is tiny.

    23. He's looking great so far! Thanks for sharing all these photos. The magnet thing is odd... Hmm.

    24. I went to put Lucifer's headcap back on after trying some different eyes and both sets of magnets yanked themselves straight out of his head. :sweat

      MORE GLUE

    25. It is and if you take the top magnet out and put it on top of the magnet in the body then slap the bit into place using the lower magnet it all lines up perfectly. The gap is a simple case of poor magnet placement.
Yes! you have to have plenty of super glue in this hobby,:whee:
I couldn't get his headcap off at all until I put velcro on his head and pulled sideways.

      Edit for a photo.

    26. He's looking great @SteamWitch
I've sprayed my guy but haven't started painting. I have an idea of what I want to do but there's a disconnect between my brain and imagination and what my hands can actually do. Lol

    27. I just noticed this. Thanks!

Did you take out the magnet in the body part or the penis? If it's the body, do the other parts still work?

    28. The penis, it came out easy after I froze it. I don't think you even need to carve out the resin. If you set the loose magnet onto the body magnet then put the regular peen back on it should look okay and you can glue it on in its proper place, just make sure you are only gluing the magnet and the boy bit together, lol.

@Dark Angel Oh, I just saw your earlier post. I did okay but I'm not totally happy with his face but I'm not used to painting on such little guys. The body blushing came out really well though.

    29. Awesome! I'll have to try that.

After seeing your guy, I had to start on my dude!

I have to seal him again and then *maybe* I'll add paint to the black parts... I'm so scared I'll screw it up. I'll just have to seal him really well so I can wipe the paint off if I do mess up.

      • x 1
    30. Wow, he looks interesting. Don't worry if you screwup that's what sealing between layers is for, but sometimes my screwups look better than what I planned, lol

    31. Lol I wish my screw ups would do that! But yeah, I'll seal him well and then paint him. I want some of the black parts to look liquidy and the paint will help with that. Gloss too. But sometimes, the sealant can kind of fill in a bit of the colored pencil, too. So maybe I won't need to. I'll just have to wait and see until I get home tonight. (Weather permitting)

    33. I LOVE him with that hair! Ugh, you're killing me. He's turning out so great!

    34. Yikes! I keep double posting... but... I finished Dagon's face up! I'm SO happy with how it turned out.

Now I need to get him some hair. I'm thinking about gluing it on since I'm pretty sure I won't find a wig in his size that I really like. I'm also debating whether I should try body blushing. I've never really done it before, but I feel like it's a little weird to have the black "veins" only on his hands and face. And since he's got such a nice little body, it'd almost be a crime to not show it off! ;)

(Dagon really likes to lean to the one side. Anyone else have that?)

      • x 2
    35. Body blushing was pretty easy since he is so small and if he is going to be showing skin I agree he needs it.
Nameless doesn't have a problems staying upright but it is easy to twist him into other positions.

I ripped out the seaming in the sleeves and zigzaged them closed and his hands slipped easily through, though the back only closes at his hips. I think I can make some Ken clothes and patterns work for him. I know the action figure clothes work but they are so expensive. Though I may buy blue jeans because I don't think I can do them justice.

    36. He is so cute in his little hoodie and glasses. :)

    37. Thank you! He is being spoiled and I see a few jealous eyes staring at me.:frownyblush::frownyblush::frownyblush:

    38. @SteamWitch : Speaking of "eyes". ;)

I made my first set out of polymer clay and UV resin.
While they are not perfect, they will do until I can make a pair that I'm completely satisfied with.

    39. Pretty pretty! They look great to me!

    40. I came back from vacation to find that my Granado boy wasn't home yet. I logged into Granado to see that it still says "Processing". Ugh. I want him now!

    41. They said the reason my tan guy didn't get packed with my NS one is because they weren't ready. I guess only the WS and NS were done, as they showed them laying out on the table.

    42. Huh - I mean, I ordered a tan guy and got him? ... now I am mildly paranoid that they sent me a NS boy by mistake. Eheh.

    43. Ah, good to know. Hopefully the tan guys will be ready soon. I have Dreaming Tree Studio eyes and a lounge wear outfit ready and waiting!

    44. Hmmmmmm! I ordered an NS guy too, so they're probably just sending out the orders as they get to them.

    45. Yay! The wig fiber for my Hux has arrived. This boy's hasing all the luck this week!

    49. @SteamWitch ehat did the final height wind up being on these guys?

    50. ~31.5cm barefooted.
While she was home, one of my granddaughter's friends came over and I brought him out for them to see. He was in his Hawaiian shirt and she asked me why he looked like a tourist. LOL

    51. 'Cause its tourist season!

Hurry up and ship mine already Granado!

    52. I agree my guy is waiting on his friend and feels like a tourist.
      :wantshipping:

    53. Welp, I've shipped my dude's tiny head off to Angel Toast for his faceup! I took a quick mold of his head before he left, so maybe I can do something about wigs while he's away.

    54. Awesome, thanks @SteamWitch , I hope mine (a larger size) winds up at the higher end of the range too :)

    55. I got my shipping notice! :celebrate

    56. Yay! Congrats!!!!
Haven't gotten mine yet but now I'm excited - again.

    57. I have my shipping notice for a tan Lucifer. I asked Granado for the measurements but was told they are too busy and referred me to this thread. Many thanks SteamWitch, I can now start looking for something to wear. Are there shoes available that fit his small feet?

I might add that my original order was for the 45 cm boy in sunshine from 28 March. After many long waits from Dollshe I'm used to taking time.
