Granado Tiny Doll Discussion

what company/sculpt are the doll bodies on the left?

 

i realized it's already been 2 1/2 months since i ordered my ninth. time has gone so fast

 

finding eyes for these guys seems to be downright impossible. Granado sells 6.5mm eyes, which doesn't even seem to be a "thing" in eye molds, let alone the (rare) premade eyes. So, I'm thinking of making my own eyes including the mold. Since I don't have my little guys yet, can someone tell me if 6.5mm really is the size needed, for all the heads? I've got a shadow, a ninth and a lucifer coming in. Thanks!

 

I put 6mm eyes in my Lucifer and they seemed to fit perfectly well. (He's off for a faceup, though, so I can't show you.) 6mm are a little tricky to find, but they're more or less a standard size.

Cool. Did you find a small iris mold or make your own?

 

I did finally find one on etsy. I'd been going through the same handful of dealers ever since I ordered these guys, and this one finally got them back in stock. I also found someone who makes some very nice ones for very reasonable---like $8 each? and got a pair for each that will work until I can master making my own.

Got another question. Is there a source with suggestions for best supplies for making eyes? Like recommended type/power of UV resinator and type of resin? Everything I've found on youtube is on the far side of the big pond. I'd kinda like to buy locally. I've got colors paints and glitter galore, but I haven't ever done anything with the fingernail cookers.

 

Both of mine have 6mm eyes. My Lucifer has resin ones from Dreaming Tree Studio, and my V-11's are glass from Denver Doll. I'm impressed some of you make your own. No way do I have the patience for that. I sew them clothes and make props, and buy things like eyes and wigs.

 

I'm figuring to make the wigs. Mainly because it's impossible to find curly/wavy wigs for boy dolls. Very frustratin'.

I went ahead and ordered the most recommended UV light...the one with the tray? I want to make some things other than eyes and I figure that will let me do timed "bakes" for thicker resin. Also, it seems to be the one recommended by those that do things other than nails.

I'm really intrigued with the notion of making my own eye mold with the striations. You know..the ones they do with sculpy? That should make it pretty easy make to fast and pretty and specific resin eyes. I've got a 6mm and 14mm mold both with small irises ordered. I figure to make a pair of blanks to make sure I've got a good round base, then make the striated insert, harden it, then make a new mold. Fingers crossed it'll work!

 

I'm considering making my own... I wanted to get more eyes from Dreaming Tree, but she's not making eyes anymore. Which is so unfortunate, hers were always my favorite!

 

I get a lot of my tiny eyes through Dollines on Etsy. They will do custom iris sizes and the price is reasonable.

Oh, sure. But I kind of get a kick out of going up and just checking what the status is. No rhyme or reason to the impulse. Probably the moment the status changes, an auto email is generated. Besides, I hate to bother them more than I already have. I've got so many "waiting to be finished" elements...mainly everything to do with the Adagio 70 and head...that I probably won't get them until Christmas anyway!

Oh, of course! I saw them, then totally forgot! I think I've got my "cheapies that work" covered now. I really want to make my own because I have some tiny opal cabachons I hope to use in Stephen's!

I made wigs for my incoming S&W minimes! Fortunately, their heads are the same size as Pookii's. He's not a Granado doll, so I don't know if I should post them here or not, but they are made! And they're pretty cute. I know....here's a link to the tutorial I made using Wesley's wig for 4" faux fur wigs.

 

Oh wow congrats!! A lucky bag indeed!! That's definitely not the Zen body, but oops... He's beautiful! (I'm keeping my own fingers crossed for a delivery today...)

My boy(s) came earlier today! There's more pics in my box opening thread, but ahhh he's so gorgeous!



And luckily all the Clear-Lan clothes I bought him fit like a dream--he just needs shoes. Shoes, my eternal quest... Sigh.

 

Since the website update I haven't been able to sign into my account anymore. I assume my order hasn't updated but I'd like to check :/

 

Thanks for the recs! I have some shoes that might work if I try the boiling water trick—I'm just sigh about it because once I get them on... My kingdom for some plain black dress shoes that actually FIT—without the boiling!

I got my 30Garden all painted up over the weekend, and I'm SO in love with him! He fits those Clear-Lan clothes I got him like a dream. (I did end up putting the shoes I have on him after heating them up... They do fit, at least! Dreading getting them off though...) I hope everyone is prepared for how much I'm going to spam this boy, I'm too in love.

This morning I tried to snap some pics to highlight how pretty his default eyes are. I don't know that I succeeded, but they are SO tiny! He has some that are the "correct" color on their way, but I'm not sure how those will fit... He has the tiniest head out of all the boys I have so far, I think? (Somehow I haven't taken them out to compare.)

Anyway... Des! Looking so handsome I can't even stand it.

Looks like there's a new tiny girl body, the Muse! (Technically also a new girl, Bonnie, but she's only available with painted eyes right now, which is off-topic. It sounds like a version with eyeholes is coming, though!)

I finished my layaway but I haven't heard anything back from them...

 

Doing pretty great over here myself—I got a roombox base from Laserlines for my 1:6s and took a few shots of Des (30Garden) in it. I need another one thought I think, because their sofa takes up the ENTIRE floor, haha! (And to figure out how to add a bit of height to the walls... Des is Too Tall.)

I'm still waiting on my big order with FOUR small guys (well, one's a girl) and then they offer this lad, who is exactly what I was going to try to mod the Adagio into! Even to the shorter size! So....Jean-Phillippe, who was only maybe going to get shelled, is getting the Adagio. Sigh....This body is gorgeous.

Oh, wow...sell them separately....now there's a thought. you mean just the legs? That w/b so cool.

 

Yet another image on instagram...and he looks very much like the Adagio with slightly shorter legs and the peanut joint, AND he's going to be offered with a Noah head. I asked if we'll see him in the 70cm range and whether they'd consider selling the legs a la carte. We shall see!

 

Has Granado ever updated the basic feet on the tiny boys, or do they all still have the same bulging heels? I always found those kinda frustrating.

 

Thank you! It's everything I was going to mod the Adagio into! So...JP will now have a body! Yay! and Stephie will have to wait for his minime.

 

I have the Adagio and Vigor and yeah, the Adagio body doesn't have the same frustrating heel/shoe problem... For which I am INFINITELY grateful. I'd be sad if Ascent had the heel thing going on... I do really love the body, though! It's so nice and expressive.

 

Oh, man, that's good to know! I spent literally half an hour slowly inching some Azone loafers onto the Vigor's heelyfoots and I do not want to do anything like that again.
