Granado Tiny Doll Discussion

    2. :D:D thank youuu

with a faceup or blank? my ninth has a faceup.

    3. I got Shadow without a faceup since it was $110. :o I think we can muddle through one of my own faceups for him.

    4. faceup was only $70, i guess you mean + head price

    5. Granado webshop shows 110 usd for a faceup for Shadow.

This is crazy. I do not understand why faceups for such small guys are so expensive.*_* I do not see a big different in quality between the faceup of Ningh and Shadow.

Speacking of which, my order of Ningh blank head and torso base has also shipped. Production time was around 34 days.

    6. I would have gotten his faceup at $70 since I got both Ninth and V11 with faceups at that price, but $110 was just too much for me. Poor Shadow will suffer unless I pull out all my faceup mojo.

Congrats on the shipping notice @Swampruler

    7. Sigh...I have to wait for them to get the 70cm Adagio body and Noah face into production. I told them I was in no hurry. Didn't know how much shipping envy I was going to have! :D

Oh...as per price hike...do you suppose they just don't like doing them? And maybe, because they are so small, they've found that they actually take longer than the big guys. Dunno. Just giving them the benny. Isn't this size pretty new for them?

    8. @SteamWitch @Swampruler ahhh i assumed that it was the same that i paid for ninth, ok yeah totally oof no not for 110 at least, i dont think i would

@Vindalootoo i just bought my ninth last week with $70 for the faceup, so i would assume no price hike? maybe shadow was just special?

    9. I'm sure it does take longer to do the tiny faceup. We will see if it happens with the next tiny guy.

    10. Sheesh...who knows? Maybe they're raising the price but "grandfathering in" the established prices? Marketing is one of those mystery arts. :D

    11. hehehehe i'll feel lucky then, i love ninth's faceup

    12. I think there were two faceups for Shadow, so maybe one of them was more expensive? I ordered him with a faceup and I don't think I got the price hike.

Also, I finally managed to properly order both Ninth and Shadow yay! Both with faceups, and I also grabbed a Ninth wig. Ninth is in Windfresh and Shadow in Apricot, so I'll be able to take pics of the new colors if anyone needs them when they come in.

    13. I bought some wigs for my V11 today! They're not gonna be ready until June/July though x.x but they're beautiful so i think probably worth the wait I'm hoping the black one will also fit on Ninth. Fingers crossed.

    14. Wow! Where'd you find those? Amazing.

    15. They're made by collectors in China :3
I spend a lot of time in places I don't technically belong, like TB's secondhand selling app lmfao
People advertise services there, especially customizers. I can tell you how to do it but it requires a lot of problem solving, some emulators, a shopping service, and hope.

    16. If my attempts to make my own wigs fail as spectacularly as I fear they may, don't be surprised if a PM shows up in your box! :D

It's so funny, I haven't purchased that many dolls, but for the first time I find myself checking the Granado mailbox for new on my order. Normally, I just try to forget I've ordered it (doll, wig, whatever) and let it surprise me when it arrives. :D I think I really want to see what these little guys are like in person.

    17. if you think you're up to putting the work in yeah hit me up for sure. i'll be super interested in see how your results go

    18. Question: has anyone tried or even considered modding the hands and feet to use magnets a la Fairyland? I'm interested in pros and cons because it seems it would make changing clothing a lot easier. I haven't, of course, seen the ball joints of wrists and ankle up close and personal yet, but it seems like it might be doable.

    19. I don't know how useful my opinions will be on magnetic hands vs strung ones, because I only own one FL doll and its the "mini" Chic Line (Rou) kind. I find his proportions "tiny," so his wrist magnets are super small to me. The magnetic hands are a dream to change and switch out, literal dream for those of us who love multiple hands vs jointed ones. However, they fall out quite easily. He can't hold onto much anything that isn't weightless. My Rou in particular is supposed to be Sephiroth, who carries a sword which is supposed to be taller than he is. DX I don't think that's going to happen, ever! Unless, I make it out of paper. ^___^;;

The hands have a small notch, that's supposed to help them stay on, and they do for the most part, unless I want him to hold anything. Again, unless the item is weightless, the hand falls right off, along with whatever I try to make him hold. Not sure how it would work with stronger, magnets, or more than just the magnet to keep the hand in place, in such a tiny writs. Hope I don't confuse you with my wall of repetitive text. (:

    20. Hadn't thought about that. What little I've tried to have my ChicLines hold has worked OK. The sword is an issue, definitely. Both mine need specially made (read ultimately 3D printed) swords. I figured to make them out of nylon and model a hand right onto it. That should keep the weight down. Since mostly they won't actually be carrying the swords, it shouldn't be a problem.

OTOH, one of my new little guys is a gymnast and the other is a rock climber. Other than that, they're both computer jockeys, so holding anything heavier than a stylus isn't an issue. I have a feeling posing in their sport of choice, they might like that most secure connection!

    21. The age old question of what fits. Do the 1:6 scale boots/shoes work on these fellows? I'm loving these but can't find the foot length dimensions anywhere.

    22. Chances are they are not 'hollow' and have a peg hole for the other type action figures who have pop off feet. I really like them too!

Oops, I amost forgot my reason for checking this thread.
      True, Lyric and the grill.

    23. Yeah, I found them on giantoy.com and they're solid with ankle-peg holes, not hollow for feet. That's one of the big issues with action figure shoes. Boooo.

    24. Sigh. I was afraid of that. Sniff. Thanks! So what you're telling me is I have to make shoes for these guys, too. Sigh... At least Wesley like going barefoot. And mocassins can't be too hard to make.

    25. Some 1:6 shoes are hollow, meant to be used with action figure feet. Some sellers will list them as being either hollow, or "meant to be used with feet." Not all sellers do it, however, but you'll find that most molded hard plastic shoes are made to be used with pegs, a lot of the shoes made out of fabric are meant for feet, but not all. You are kind of stuck with having to ask the seller, research the brand (if there is one, there is a huge issue with counterfeit everything if that bothers you), or purchase them and be stuck with shoes you can't use. 1:6 figures have pretty much "standard" sizes, unlike BJD, because they are actually in scale. Most feet sizes are the same for most males figures, and most females also have pretty much the same feet size. Some brands have very particular feet for the females, but again, some sellers will mention if the shoes are meant for a specific female figure, if they know they won't fit on all body brands.

That's why there are no sizes listed, because most feet are pretty much the same size, or around the same size. Probably not helpful, but if you like a pair of 1:6 shoes, and you're wondering if they are hollow or not, it's probably easy to ask the seller or research the brand. Because not all 1:6 shoes are meant for pegs -- although, there are probably far more shoes meant for pegs than not, there are some that are meant for feet. Of course that doesn't mean they'll fit tiny BJD, but at least some could! (:

Edit: Sorry for atrocious grammar from hell. Habitual insomniac here, it's been a few days now. DX

    26. I guess the question now is, are the action figure feet remotely compatible with our little granado guys? I did find some "hollow" shoes that looked pretty nice, but I don't want to pull a Cinderella step sister and cut off my guys' toes!

    27. I'd give it a resounding '... probably'. I have action figure shoes on several of my mature tiny boys, and they're usually somewhere between 'close to perfect' and 'slightly oversized', depending on the original manufacturer. (I have never had any luck with shoes meant for female action figures, but I also don't try as hard.)

The weird Granado feet could be an issue, though. (Unless those have been changed on newer bodies.) They have those bulging heels and the squared-off toes - the heels in particular might clash with taller boots.

    28. I measured two different brands of 1:6 feet, it seems like they are both 4cm in length and 1.5cm at the widest point. I was looking at loose feet on eBay (for 1:6 figures, of course) and a lot of them say they are 44mm which would make them 4.4cm, but the ones that don't have the measurements, that are only photographed in front of, or next to rulers seem to be 4cm as well. So, I am assuming most 1:6 feet are that length and width. I am a (creepy) lurker, I don't own a Granado tiny myself to compare the feet, I am contemplating someday maybe getting a head sculpt (until they make wider necks, I probably won't be getting one whole doll). But I like commenting, if I feel like I can give my two cents about off-topic stuff that might be helpful to some. (:

For reference in case it helps a bit further, the image here (not mine) shows a pair of jointed 1:6 feet, at around the joint would be the widest part measuring 1.5cm, the whole length heel-to-toe would be the 4cm.

    29. Thank you for unlurking! I never heard where you had to have one of the dolls in question to participate! And I think, according to SteamWitch's measurements on page 1 that these guys' feet are 4 and change, so hopefully these "hollow" shoes would work

    30. I have a pair of plastic 1/6 action figure dress shoes for my Napoleon. They fit, barely. The odd Granado heel is to blame. I can get the shoes on, but no socks. What business guy wears dress shoes without socks? I’m thinking of sanding down the heel. It would solve so many foot issues, but I hesitate as I don’t want to ruin his balance. But.....those heels!

    31. Probably more than you think. :D Socks are hot. Literally. But if the socks are important to you, I think I'd try heating up and stretching the shoes before sanding down the heals. The engineering that gives these dolls stability is something I just wouldn't want to mess with. Of course, I might change my mind once I actually have the lads in house and have to deal personally with the problem. :D I know just holding Pukipuki shoes in hot water softened them enough to stretch them out.

I begin to suspect, from what everyone's saying about the feet, that zippers, lacing, spandex and baggy will play a big part in my boys' fashion sense!

    32. @Vindalootoo oh thank you so much for the hot water tip! Normally I wouldn’t care about sock, but the 1/6 scale business suit I got just fits and is a tad bit too short in the legs so his ankles show. With black socks it could be overlooked. Now I have no excuse for not finishing my guy. I got derailed when the sock issue came up and haven’t done anything since. It’s so easy to be lazy, lol.

    33. Hall loves attention also a great storyteller. He seems to have a captive audience.

    34. Ahhh he's beautiful! I can't wait for mine...! I've got a bit to go though, I asked Granado to combine boxes so I didn't have to worry about more than one package.

    35. Congratulations SteamWitch, I agree he's quite the beauty! I thought I was happy just lurking, but Shadow is so flipping beautiful. Good thing they are only shipping via EMS, and I'm a cheapskate when it comes to shipping, otherwise I would hoard Granado tiny heads. Lol! DX

    36. Does anyone have a Ninth and would be so kind as to measure his head for me. I have no idea what to do for wigs, I've never been unprepared like this before x.x

    37. It is 9,5 cm

    38. x.x omg thats so tiny. im so unprepared omg where do you even get wigs???

    39. My duo (Lucifer and V-11) are both wearing size 3 wigs. One's from Monique, the other's faux fur from a seller on ebay. How small their heads are compared to most of my other dolls kind of bugs me...

      • x 1
    40. My v11 has custom wigs coming in specifically for its head so sizes isn't something I have had to think about but then I remembered that Ninth is still gonna need a wig x.x

    41. Is it possible for anyone to take a picture of one of their dolls next to a bigger doll? Like next to a MNF or 65cm or anything in between

    42. [IMG]
I have this, so so picture.

Bigger heads are TD Jun (68cm doll) and RD messenger (65 cm doll on sd10 body) Ninth's head has the same circumference as sd10 body

    43. @Chriandra Here’s a full body shot of our 65cm boys holding them. They’re so tiny! :XD:

    44. They look amazing! Yes, they are tiny but quite handsome too.

    45. @Amet They're so CUTE I'm absolutely losing it, thank you for sharing this one...

    46. @Amet Oooo...you just made the wait for my big boys and their minimiis that much harder! Beautiful.

    47.
    48. I screamed so loud it alarmed my partner XD They look so amazing!!
Now I'm refreshing my tracking even more impatiently, I want my own tiny Lan to get home already!!

    49. I've just gotten my Ninth, and I love that beautiful little pinhead, but also I am perplexed because I struggle with his neck hole.
I have beheaded him to put the eyes more easily, but now I find it difficult to put the head back on. The hook falls back down the neck, unless the silicone slice is caught up into the hole too?
I'm not sure I'm explaining myself well, I can try to take photos. Mostly, I'm wondering if there's a trick to handling tiny granado heads?

    50. Well, to answer my own question : there was a problem with the hook, which wasn't quite the right shape. Thankfully he came packaged with a spare set of elastics and hooks, and that hook is the right shape, so all is well in the end.
It's a little disappointing for a brand new doll, but nothing dramatic and I'm just happy to have my little man.

    51. I got to adopt another Ninth. So here are Rune and my new guy Blair, on a Myou body.

    53. So... whats up my dudes?

    54. I'm waiting on the weather to let me do the faceup on Shadow. I missed the window for an Adagio body so I have to either get a Zen body or wait until July. :sweat

      • x 1
    55. I like the Zen body my Rowan (V-11) has, but it is super slim.

    56. I have Ninth and Galileo on the Zen and I love them. My V-11 is on the Adagio and it seems to suit him. I will probably get the Zen body, I like it the best of the three bodies, having grown up skinny myself (I got over it in my 30s ). I'm actually waiting on my Pomelo Bag to see what I get before doing anything.

    57. is it still possible to buy ninth? i see people talking about buying him recently but it says the order is over on granado’s site, is there a way to still order? sorry if this is dumb question i know next to nothing about granado
