That faceup is incredible! pancho looks like a sweetie--I am still trying to get Fabio and even poor Will into clothes, and here comes another cutie!

I wonder what body Pancho will be on, at first I thought Granado was making a outfit by that name.

 

I was just wondering about the size too. It looks as if he might be on a Titan body?

 

Alewife- someone asked that on Granado's Flickr and they said he was a normal sized doll- not a titan

lol! Ditto. Titans are a wee bit too big for my collection. But their regular line? Oh, man. I might be in trouble.

 

Same here, I was hoping he would be a Titan so I wouldn't be tempted.

 

I asked recently Granado what body will be Pancho head They answered, that on this normal body, not on titan fortunately

Fingers crossed tomorrow I can grab some finer paint brushes and a little acrylic gloss...I lack the funds to send off any heads for professional face ups, so I'm going to try and give my Mads a semi-decent face up. I'll be giving glue scars a go for the first time too...wish me luck!

 

Ooh! That's fun, Quiet and Insane. I love making glue scars. Jono's scars are all done in Elmer's Glue and acrylic gloss medium. Face is Elmer's and the chest is the acrylic. Then just tons of pastel blushing. I think I like the gloss medium and little more but it does take ages to dry. If he's only got a small scar I bet glue will work like a charm.

I'm not entirely sure about what the scar on his face will look like at this stage maybe something like the one Stein from Soul Eater has (albeit without the stitches), as he's a scientist too. Unlike Stein however, my Mads has an obsession with poisons and corrosive liquids rather than an obsession with dissecting things. I'll probably add a couple of burn scars to his arms and hands once I buy him a body. :P
I'll just do a little experimenting first and see where that takes me. I love trying new things and learning new skills!

I'm excited. I just bought Jade an outfit that will be perfect for her. It may be a bit big since it is for Iple EID/SID female, but I'll make it work. I can't wait for it to get here so I can take pics! I should give her a new face up this weekend. She's looking a bit dull. Also, for some reason her head is looking a bit on the yellow side compared to her neck. I don't know why considering she is sealed with MSC. I'm hoping that it's just the sealant that is changing colors. She's not that old!

 

Lucky I bet it's the sealant--and which outfit did you get? The stretchy ones often fit!

 

I bought a Witch Hunter outfit. Loose blouse with corset and skirt, plus a few accessories. If it doesn't fit her, it should fit my SG girl at least. I'll need to find her some boots/shoes to go with this outfit. Not sure the ones I have will work (and are too big for her. dang Granados and their tiny feet!) If that outfit is too big, there is a similar version for SID girl (Bloody Hunter). That is the style Jade wants. I got some pieces I made myself. I should finish that outfit I started....

[MENTION=40755]LuckyXIII[/MENTION] If the MSC is the UV cut version, then it's definitely the sealant. It yellows quite visibly - that's why I gave up using the MSC UV cut altogether (I use the regular matte version now). Though it is great in keeping the resin itself from discoloring

Good to know it probably is the sealant (yes it is msc uv). It's odd that it does not seem to be effecting my other dolls, at least this noticeably.

 

Thanks guys! I got the brush I needed and some clear acrylic gloss today so once the weather stops being so horribly humid I'll prep him (and another blank head) with MSC and we'll be good to go!

anyone here have a Lads body? I'm trying to figure the difference between the plus and normal. a little more muscular?
I love Pancho + his limited faceup. I might just go for this guy. it will be my 1st Granado.

petiteballerine it's the difference between having that extra waist joint and not having it. I have the Normal Lads body without that joint and I sort of enjoy it as it stands beautifully and the waist never pops out. On the other hand that center joint gives it even more posability, judging from the photos.

 

oh, duh....so obvious I didn't see it. I'm a fan of bendy, so double jointed torso for me. thanks a bunch!

 

Dang it Granado, why are you doing this to me? Involving Charles and Andrew, my two favourites in Pancho's story (while incidentally my Charles happens to have an older brother who I had no intention of dollifying. ever. Gah! >< Hopefully Pancho will look younger than Charles. )

I have both the Lads and the Lads Plus torso, because I already had my doll ordered when the Plus body came out - Granado was kind enough to let me add another torso to my order . Aesthetically they are pretty much the same, the only difference is the lower torso joint.

I have mixed feelings about the extra joint - it is designed in a bit of a self-sabotaging way, so the added range of motion is not that big. Theoretically it works well - there is a big inner resin rim, that prevents popping out, and there are silicone bits in the front, the back and the sides that are supposed to help in keeping the joint in place. Unfortunately the silicone bits in the sides basically work like hinges when I use the joint for leaning forward - it goes into position and then sloooowly rocks back into the default upright position, because the silicone on the sides lifts the upper part enough to make it impossible to lock. Side-to-side it adds lovely mobility, and it also helps with arching his back, but I'm a bit bummed about the forward thing, it would have came handy for sitting (since there are no thigh-joints).

All in all, I think the extra joint is worth the extra $20, but it wasn't worth buying a full additional torso part.

 

I am so in love with Pancho! I am definitely going to get his head in tan skin. I will not run into another situation like I did with Titus! Eventually I'll get him a Lads body, the regular one. My dolls basically just sit and look pretty so the extra posing isn't a priority for me. But I may change my mind by the time I'm able to get him a body.

 

That regular Lads body is really neat. Some of my floating heads are agitating for their own. I wish I had extra money right now, my Granado wish list is growing.

 

wow - that's a bummer. 5 heads. well, Granado, if not the limited, then keep your head. it's a big part of the reason I want it now. I can wait & maybe get the whole doll later. paint it myself. but.... *sadpanda*

 

Are all 5 sold out already? It is a beautiful faceup.

 

I figured that faceup would be a special--so much work, and so gorgeous. But I like the sculpt too and I think he's officially on my wishlist now. I just hope he's still there in March, when I will have monies again

yes. only 5 going to 5 lucky shoppers tomorrow. I have a slow finger for this type of sale. but, I love that faceup so much. Crocus does beautiful work.

the outfit they've styled him with is very cool, too. I wish he were a fullset & limited for a time period of weeks, not just a few people.

 

The sculpt itself is time limited for a month. For the face-up, I'm assuming that someone else is doing it and he/she may only be available for a short time, which is why it is limited to Five. You can always hire a face-up artist here and see if they can do something similar.

 

Whoa, what an outcry... seriously, it's not like Granado has such a huge customer base that those 5 faceups will be grabbed up in minutes. Or even in hours.

Anyway, as a person who's tried textured faceups, I'm not surprised that they are only offering 5, especially with only a $20 price difference. Textured faceups take so much more time, and getting consistent results is so much harder. I'd have expected Pancho's faceup to be a one-off if anything...

 

Welp I went ahead and bought Pancho's little head--it looks like there are still some special faceups available as of right now, but I got him blank because I got NS and it looks like the special is on WS--and I want to at least try to do a similar faceup myself. I have a Lads body here for him in NS since Gabe had a gender reassignment.

 

Congrats, fishcake! So petiteballerine, maybe you can pounce on one of those faceups?

I think I'll refrain from Pancho. Hypercurve has me looking at Kaili, now.

 

Alewife Kaili is just a total cutie--she wouldn't fit with my crew but she is adorable You need to post more photos here of your Granados, btw And thank you--the pleasure is mine since for some reason Pancho suddenly acquired a backstory... and even pants. It helps I have his body here already.

Re photos, my sister gave me a photo light for Christmas, so I have no excuses. Except laziness.

[MENTION=13225]Smaug[/MENTION]: that type of painting does take a long time. my Soom Chalco is covered in freckles, moles, & has a black eye. the biggest problem is if you mess up or want to change something after you've done a few layers - you can't. I'm sort of into the full head (& sometimes body) paintjob these days.

 

petiteballerine, I'm glad you got your man! I know what you mean about the fastest fingers. I used to join in the piranha-like frenzy to get a Tensiya Berman. I was never fast enough.

 

Oh, is it just me or does it appear the company hasn't put a cap on the 5-faceups-only thing? I'm guessing that at least 12 hours later all 5 have been claimed but they still say Limited face-up is offered and you can purchase. Kinda sorta unwittingly bought it waaay after release 'cause I got my times mixed up, and I wonder what they'll do if people keep adding it to the cart thinking there are slots left. o.O

 

I'm sure they will let us know one way or another..or maybe they were willing to do a couple more for people diving in on day one. I just think the sculpt is neat, even blank (which I appreciate seeing in the promo photos, not many companies are so good about that)

 

I'm desperately hoping someone can tell me/provide information or photos... Do any of you happen to know if Crobidoll normal resin matches Granado's new normal? I'm wanting to make a hybrid which can't happen if it's too dissimilar. I suppose comparisons to Luts and Little Monica normal would also be acceptable if you have one of those as those are quite *close* Thank you so much for any input you can give. >< Hopefully it will work out so I can join in with a lovely Maiden body!

 

I've no idea myself but the new normal is definitely a pinky-normal, and the WS is a very creamy ws, close to Iplehouse's instead of Sooms Very White. Color matching can be done with blushing so really the question is what size is the head you want to pop on there? The maiden is petite, better for smaller heads, IMO.

 

Hmm it would be for Crobidoll Zia. I've been admiring the Maiden 2 body since it came out and I need a small busted frame. I wonder if she would look too bobble headed? X.x Too bad no one in my area has one of the bodies!

I just picked up Le Comte (Le Lys Rouge) from Tensiya for a reasonable price back in Jan 2005 with no drama. thought I'd wait and see what others would come next. Shensingumi sat for months unsold. Hue die Meng sold slowly. then, somehow, maybe because of our pics on DOA, the whole thing went supernova. then the Heimdal fiasco! & I don't even want to talk about Il Milione.

I never have managed to get a special doll through quick clicking.

Does anyone know if his head will fit the Volks SD17 body? I saw a photo of a Volks Ryoma head on a Lads body but I'm not 100% sure of the fit the other way...

 

gabriel, I had a friend who had that combination, and liked it, but I don't have any pictures unfortunately. Maybe someone else here can help?

petiteballerine, I was dying for Manu or Il Milione-- kind of glad I didn't get on that mess. My connection wasn't fast enough. People would have the email all filled out and be sitting there with their fingers hovering over the send button. It was crazy!

I have a friend who had the right touch for getting Bermanns and she had quite a few of them after a while. I think they are cool, but the whole Tensiya/Bermann frenzy just got insane. Some owners were hesitant to post their dolls because some of the folk who didn't get them would carp about how they deserved it more... or whatever. (Some doll folk can be insensitive at times.)

My internet speed and clicking speed has never been great, so I usually avoid going for dolls that sell out in seconds anyway. There are so many lovely dolls out there that I never feel I lose out on much even so!

I've been kind of away from bjds for the past few months due some major on-going health problems... but I just can't seem to stay away for long! I'm having a serious urge to buy dolls! (I've got two dolls on layaway.) I love Pancho's faceup, too. But I'm not that tempted to get him... no strong ideas for what I'd do with him.

I did manage to snap a few photos for the Granado Photo Contest. My photo skills are a bit lazy, but I just had to take some photos anyway. My poor Charles has been in the same outfit (pirate one) for years, justabout... So, time for a change and some new pictures!

Do you think Granado would mind if we post photos from the same photoshoot but are not the exact ones we sent in? Hmmm...

 

It's been done in the past so I think it's OK. I'd love to see your Charles, pirate costume or no.
