Gothic Lolita Bible Extra?

Oct 18, 2005

    1. It finally came in the mail the other day :D, and while I knew it would be in Japanese, I don't have any way to translate it.

Is there anyone who is willing to translate it for free? Please understand that in order to avoid prosecution by Japanese lawyers, I will have to ask that you do not redistribute the information outside of this board, whether for profit or otherwise. Especially not for profit...

I can provide anyone willing to translate the BJD article with a link to the scans *after* communicating with them via email. If you PM me, I should get the message, as I check my email every day.

      Thank you all in advance!

    2. You might try the EGL community on LJ to see if someone has already translated it somewhere. :3

    3. I have a related question: Has anyone tried making the pattern guides larger instead of making the true patterns smaller for their dolls? I was thinking that as long as I could figure out the basic idea, I could just size the pattern based on the much easier to follow guides shown with the outfit instructions

    4. I have this issue and would also like to see if there's a translation somewhere :D

    5. Would it particularly help if I posted a link to the scans? Like, would that get people to come forward and translate this article?

I can't post it until... Thursday afternoon (tomorrow) because I have chores, 2 hours of driver's school, and Human Growth and Development homework tonight, and more school tomorrow morning, but I will post it! *determined*

Also, just to clarify: I don't need text overlay type translations. Text is totally fine. I don't want to scare anyone off... Idiot, no one is scared, they just want the scans... ;_ ; Yeah, I know.

    6. Aaarrrrrrgh!... Bump.

    7. If you post links to the scans, I can ask my friend if he'll do it after Halloween, but he's busy before then.

300 dpi scans would be best for the purpose of translation, compressed as a .zip file. I can't guarantee when he'll have time to help or if he will, but I know at least two really nice guys fluent in Japanese who might be willing to translate it if I make sad eyes at them.

    8. I love you. O.O ....Now, to get to the point as to why I haven't been paying attention:

Argh! I'm sorry that I took so long to respond. Apparently it has been finalized that my family will be moving again, sometime within the next several months. Just a lot of stress, no worries otherwise. I will have the scans up by tomorrow morning, go me!

Again, I'm soooo sorry I took so long. I will post the link, so watch this space. <3

    9. Yes.
Well, it was from the homemade Gothic Lolita magazine, that has more patterns.

Anyway, I took a waist measurement of a doll & a pattern diagram, and blew up the pattern a bit bigger than the measurement (for ease).

The bodice fit Great, but the sleeves are too small for the doll's hands to fit through. I'll have to modify the pattern.

H'mm, just realized that I can probably remove her hands without unstringing her arms (fairly recent Volks doll)--I may finish the coat dress yet.

And you can do the same thing with American patterns, just take the picture that shows all the pattern pieces & enlarge it to fit your doll. The copy machine that enlarges is your friend.

It would be awfully difficult to reduce the pattern without mechanical aid or some really odd-ball copy machine. [image of person wrestling with tissue pattern & loosing :o ]

Check the Sewing section of the forum for more discussion on how to adjust a pattern to fit the right scale, before fitting it on your doll.
