howdy hey! i haven't been very active for awhile due to work and mental health, but my want to sculpt my own doll has returned! i have always been interested in fantasy type creatures, and really like goblins, so here we are! here is the prototype sketch i have for them so far! I have been experimenting with ZBrush mini, but have decided to try and sculpt this pal in Blender! My plan is to make them a single joint in the knees/shoulders, and double joint in the elbows if i can figure it out. any help/feedback is apprecated!
looks good so far! Be aware though that the shoulder joint like that won't be any good; the joint really needs to be round, not oval, otherwise she won't be able to stretch out her arms at all...
day 2 of working on this doll! i downloaded blender last night and went about making the base for the doll! i have to admit, i am pretty lost on what to do now that i've gotten this far. i have tried following tutorials for making dolls on ZBrush, but because they are not the same program i am having difficulty figuring it out. thank you and see you in the next update!
Hey @plushsharks, fellow 3D modeler and sculptor here! First off if this is your first 3D block out, nicely done!! Your proportions look really cute so far! If you're having trouble with sculpting the finer details in blender, YanSculpts and Grant Abbitt are both great resources to check out on YouTube, they've got great blender sculpting tutorials. Alternatively, if you're interested in trying Zbrush, there is a free trial version of it called ZbrushCore Mini. There's no time limit on the trial so you can use it for a long or as little as you want, but the problem is that while you can export models from this version, you can't import a model in, so you wouldn't be able to import your current block out :,( I can't wait to see how your little goblin turns out! Best of luck!!
Hello again! I sadly haven't made any more progress on this doll, and I don't think I will with blender. With that being said, I am going to attempt to sculpt them with clay! there are a lot more resources i've seen for clay sculpting and i got a whole tool kit on Christmas to help with clay sculpting, so I will now be trying that. See you in the next update!
