Giving a doll away

Aug 21, 2025

    1. I am at the point I want to give one of the resin dolls away as I’m moving away from resin and going vinyl. He’s old, he’s floppy, and he’s not worth much at all (under $100). I don’t want to sell him as I have tried for a year, I don’t have social media to post him, and I can’t seem to get anyone to trade him for clothes :frownyblush: how can I go about just gifting him away? Or how can I go finding someone just to trade me a pair of shoes or an outfit for him *_*

    2. just list him on the marketplace and put his price as free. i wanted to do something similar some years back (give away some resin parts for free). i contacted the mods on here and asked them if that was allowed, and they said it was and told me how to go about it. you may want to check with them again to see if there's any specifics to making a free MP post-- it's been awhile since i did it so i really don't remember all the details. but it should be fine and i had someone take my free stuff very quickly after listing.

    3. I listed free stuff on the MP recently, and it worked fine! I just listed the price as "free, pay shipping".

I've also gifted stuff at doll meets, held a mini "contest" on social media, and years ago, I had someone randomly just contact me and ask if I wanted a free doll!

    4. If you're part of a meetup group at all, there could be teenagers who would have a lot of trouble affording a doll who would love to own him. I gave away a doll to a friend of mine who couldn't afford one. It wasn't a doll anyone would be seeking out, but she wanted to own any BJD and wasn't picky. She actually offered me money for it ($50 or so) and I wouldn't take it. I really, really did not like this doll. Like you, I was more happy to get the doll out of my life.

    5. I don’t really have meeting groups or actual friends for that matter (life of an introvert). So it’s a little harder to find someone and most people I do talk to are only into vinyl.

    6. You may be able to trade for a vinyl doll. Or clothes for your vinyl dolls

    7. I agree, it can take time but you can trade him for clothes or something cute for your vinyl dolls

    8. I've given a doll away before! I really hate selling stuff online or just in general and the doll wasn't worth much anyway. Sometimes it's just not worth the hassle.
