I bought a full set Gina bunny. I fell in love with the full look and it was the first Bjd that I didn’t want to be a project…. She is adorable but I have never been able to get the wig on. It’s been years, since 2018!! I didn’t realize just how much time has past but this doll has essentially just collected dust in storage because I can’t get the Darn Wig on T.T [Aimerai official photo for reference] I truly love the wig and the look. But I can’t shove the stupid thing on and decided "oh, I’ll get this figured out eventually" and just never did XD I did NOT want this to be a project but looks like it’s time to whip out some elastic or something because HOW did I let so much time pass in futility. Whoops. [also the bunny ear magnets aren’t strong enough to hold them to the head :\ ] Of course this is what happens for my first and only full set. The world works in weird ways.
This is probably a bit of an unconventional way of doing this but I find the easiest way to put a wig on, especially a tight one, is to secure the doll between my legs (with a smaller doll like that it might be best to have someone else hold her instead) and use my fingers to spread the wig out as much as possible. Then staring at the front, move the wig elastic towards the back until it’s on at the base of the head. I’m a bit of a brute with my dolls sometimes so it’s hard to describe. I try to hold the front of the wig in place with my fingers to keep it from sliding off/out of place. Have you tried looking through videos to see if there might be a technique to try? She is an absolute cutie though so it’s a shame she’s had such a difficult time with her wig. If you really don’t want to fight with the wig you could always try to find the same style in a slight bigger size.
I often find the easiest way to get a wig on and in place is to turn it inside-out, place the front where the hairline needs to be and hold in place with the fingers of one hand, while easing the rest fo the wig into place turning it right-side-out as it's pressed onto the head. Doesn't work for all wigs butit's a great help for the ones it does work on. Teddy
Tried this technique but thank you for throwing it out there for me anyways (and anyone else also struggling with similar issues who is reading this). It might be time for me to admit this particular wig was made just the teeniest bit *too* small to actually fit lol even stretched to hell and back. I’m thinking cutting a portion out the back then adding an elastic band to upsize it a bit? I’ll try brute forcing as one last final hurrah though before that XD
I usually turn stubborn wigs inside out and roll them onto the head while keeping a finger to hold the front in place. What do you have under the wig to help it grip the head? If the answer is nothing, you might want to get a rubber band/silicone cap/velcro/moleskin literally anything and strategically place it near the seam above the face and nape of the neck, otherwise a tight wig is going to pop off like a bottle rocket the moment you try to move her head.
Update: I never did get the wig on... I think it is time to admit the wig was truly too small. This advice has helped me with many other wigs for other dolls though. ❀sighs dejectedly❀
