40–49cm Dolls Genevieve Ocypete (OC) BJD

Feb 9, 2026

    1. Creating a thread to share the progress/process of making a doll of my oc Genevieve :)

This is the first BJD I've ever attempted to print, so I'm excited and ready for all the challenges ahead !! ^^

Currently planning on keeping her as a 3d printed bjd (I use a resin printer, less sanding to worry about!) I'm unsure what size to print her at though... kind of leaning more towards 1/3 SD.

I am considering properly casting her in the future... I'll have to double check if I have access to the right equipment, but I believe I do!

I won't get into her whole backstory here, but I do have multiple versions of this oc that I could print-- she was initially my D&D character that slowly morphed into my fandom oc over time. I currently also have a Final Fantasy 14 and Kingdom Hearts version of her! I've contemplated printing an FFXIV version... but for now I may stick with her D&D version. (She's an Au Ra in FFXIV)

I'll post a picture of the end goal I'd like to reach with this doll, which I believe will take a lot of work-- but I'm determined to get it right bc she's my baby and I love her!! Sorry if the image is a little big
(Click here if the image isnt working!)

      Art is drawn by me~!

As you can see she's a harpy, which presents a few problems haha. I still haven't figured out what I'm going to do for the wings, as resin might be too heavy unless I use some heavy duty magnets. I'm 100% open to any and all suggestions!

The feet are a whole other thing entirely, and I'll be attempting to model them myself. Currently I've purchased a body and head that I have already heavily modified to match my character's features. (The head changed way more than I anticipated, but I'm happy with the results so far. I'll continue to tweak as I go though, as I'm not fully satisfied.)

Here is where I'm currently at! I'm still in Blender messing around with proportions, and had to purchase an additional torso as the one that came with the body wasn't cooperating with me properly.

I'm really excited to share the process here with you all :) thank you for reading and taking a peek at what I've got so far.

    2. Small Update: Clothing

Now I don't want to count chickens before they hatch (haha) or anything like that BUT.

I did find an outfit I really like that's scarily close to the one I drew for her, and I've got half a mind to order it soon for the sake of proper preparation. I would certainly be spending much less time fretting about outfits after she's printed if I do. I'm gonna sit on it for now, but I'll keep the tab open and have the dress rotating in my mind for quite some time xD

      [The Dress]

It's a different color than the one I drew her in, but that can be easily fixed with some fabric dye :evilplot:

    3. Did a quick edit of the images in the initial post. Haven't had to embed images onto a forum in years-- my bad!

    4. She's so cool looking!! I love her harpy feet!! Best of fun and luck with the modeling & printing.

    5. I love her! I agree resin might be too heavy for the wings at 1/3 scale. You could try armature wire and cloth for the base? It'd be tedious, but you'd have the option to use real feathers or that thin craft foam to lay down the individual feathers.

    6. Ohhh I didn’t think about this! I’m not opposed to using real feathers, I’d like to get as close to her wings as possible so that’s certainly an option. The only thing I hesitate on is armature wire. I’ll have to look into that properly to see how durable it is, bc I can imagine myself adjusting the posing of her wings quite a lot, so I’d definitely want something durable!

These are fantastic suggestions, thank you very much!!!

    7. I kind of want to look into hidden peanuts for the thighs, but that would require a lot of resculpting that I'm not super familiar with... but I like the look of hidden peanuts much better... I'm not sure what to do! *_*

    9. ahhh thank you!!!! <3 Hopefully I'll have more progress to share soon!

    10. I do, in fact, have access to a pressure pot!!! Which means I can definitely cast her properly! :evilplot: Or at the very least I can cast her head and stick it on an existing body if I run into any issues xD
