General 21-30cm Blind Box BJD Discussion

Oct 6, 2023

    1. Here's where you can discuss the whole market/trend in general and from any (legit) maker you like. :3nodding: The criteria is: BJDs and HJDs around the 21-30cm size, packaged blind-box style (you don't know which one from a series you're getting). If a maker has made non-blind box dolls in the same kind of style/from the same lines/similar to their blind box offerings, those are ok to discuss too, as well as if they make a series that clearly relates to a 20/30cm series they've made, but happens to be larger or smaller. Usually made from ABS.

      DOA's Banned list still applies, so dolls from a certain banned company may not be discussed no matter what, since the company is embroiled in counterfeiting.
      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
      Extensive but never complete list:
      BonBon Galaxy
      Cute Girl Series (6 regular, 1 hidden)
      CHUZ
      Cooze Devil Horns (6 regular, 1 hidden)
      COME4ARTS - Taobao
      Pet Hospital (6 dolls, blind and non-blind available)
      Love Day series (2 dolls, blind box element)
      Luckydolls
      Sui Shi Gi - Zhi Gie Gi Xiang Xia (6 regular dolls, 1 hidden doll)
      Neo Eden Toys
      Light Nightmare Twins (6 regular, 2 hidden)
      Simontoys
      First Time Entering Campus Series
      UFDolls
      Tea Series (6 regular, 2 hidden)
      Drink Series (6 regular, 2 hidden)
      X Autna CCTV Series (4 regular, 1 hidden)
      Zack Event
      Series 1 (6 regular, 1 hidden)
      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

      Most companies have their own Taobao or sometimes Aliexpress stores, but for English-language support, you can also purchase from:
      Kikagoods (China)
      My Dollection (Malaysia)
      Jane's Dolland (US)

    2. Thanks, @nattherat, for making this thread as well!

      I have to say, I'm really liking the glimpses of the 1/6 dolls from UFDolls. They're really appealing, and I'm liking the idea of them being more fashion doll scale - it does make it easier to find props and the like to use with them.

      Though I wouldn't be lying if I said seeing the art out for the Luckydolls Cybercore Baby (is that the line name?) made me very interested. I like the Y2Kness of their look.

      • x 1
    3. Yay! As I have the Come4arts Pet Rescue bunny girl! Now I have a place to share her. I’m also interested in the UFDoll bunnies, well, because bunnies!

      • x 1
    4. @werepuppy No problem! :3nodding: I'm not actually personally planning on collecting many of these because my fashion doll collection is really too large as it is, but it didn't make sense for me to tell somebody else to make a thread when I already had this much information already in my head and a format I could re-use from the 1/12 thread. :lol:

      I agree on the Cybercore line. I don't think the line name is confirmed, but that's one of the names on that artwork. Once there's more info, I'll update the info. I absolutely love the blue one shown too though - unless her cost is unmanageable, I definitely intend to get her!

      And... yep, definitely tempted by the UFDoll bunnies too! Like the Luckydolls, it's all going to depend on cost for me - the thing that's appealing about the 1/12 lines is how cheap they are for a fully complete doll, it's going to be a harder sale for me personally if any of these end up as say $80-120. Not because that's a bad price for a really quality item! But because I'm personally enjoying them as an adult version of "pocket money toys" (I don't know if "allowance toys" are a thing in other countries, but in the UK it means very low value treats a small child can earn with their chore money, traditionally £5 and under).

    5. @kurogane I adore the Pet Rescue line! They're just so cute!

      @nattherat Ah, another UK based! But I agree with what you mean, cost will be a big issue here. The 1/12 scales boss have been great because of the great quality at affordable cost. I hope these new lines can continue thar!

    6. Hmm, the thought of getting a mini me for my Volks MDD is tempting.

    7. Thanks for the extra info! I've seen two names for them now, the one I had and the one you've provided, I've put both for the moment.

    8. Hey, Thanks!
      And yeah, I know, the names are confusing. But I hope this helps:

      "Xing Yun Lai" is LuckyDoll's Chinese name.
      The series' full name is actually "Sui Shi Gi - Zhi Gie Gi Xiang Xian" Sina Visitor System
      It's broken down as this: 岁时记 (Sui Shi Gi) - Year Record Story
      值节姬 (Zhi Gie Gi) - Solar Terms Princess
      香香 (Xiang Xiang) - her name is Xiang Xiang

      The six dolls are: Flowering Time, Mid-Autumn, Mid-Summer, Tanabata (Asian Valentine's day), Winter Solstice, New Year's Eve. The hidden is Zhong-yuan (Chinese Halloween).

    9. Oh thank you, that's very very useful! And thank you for the link too - in fact, speaking of the link; I sadly don't know Chinese, so I'm relying on machine translation to view their post. For materials, the machine-translation says that the dolls and hair are made out of resin.

      Do you happen to know if this is true? Or are they ABS and the auto-translate isn't quite right? I'm wondering if they're actually on topic as a result; if they're resin, then that means that they should meet all DOA's criteria for inclusion and therefore should be posted over in the main forum rather than Brigadoon.

      • x 1
    10. It does say resin.

      • x 1
    11. Thanks for asking!
      @namika is right. Their website does say the hair is made of resin.
      In fact, I went back to double-check on their ob11 blind box (the Food girls), and the did state that the Food Girls are made of ABS/PVC. So there is a good chance that the Xiang Xiang series is actually on topic. I would wait to see them released first, though; just to be on the safe side.

      • x 1
    12. Not just the hair but the dolls themselves. It says 'high quality resin' under the height.

    13. Well, I guess it makes sense why they gave the brown outfitted one, girly shoes as well. DX

      Luckily, the doll is androgynous enough for me, not to mind keeping it as a boy. If I can manage to get that one. Although, I will probably wait for them to be released, I don't like jumping on preorders for these mystery dolls anymore.

      (I guess I'll also have to do that with the bugs one, as those are also all supposed to be girls too...)

      • x 2
    14. I really like the bunny girls, but as I no longer do pre orders, looks like my wallet is safe. I won’t do pre orders for bjds anymore either. Shipping (just getting the package) has become enough of a nightmare itself.

    15. Of course I like one of the hidden the best! My unfortunate luck. All of them are cute, but I don’t like the permanent gloves. Not that I’d be customizing one, but just having permanent gloves makes me go ummm, no. A real plus for me though is the sculpted hair. Anytime a fiber wig can be skipped, is great!

      • x 1
    16. @kurogane
      Pretty sure I saw it mentioned somewhere they come with additional hands that are without the gloves.

      • x 1
    17. @Krissim that would be great! Now I might need to have another look….

    18. Oh, yes she is cute! The body looks really nice too!

    19. Mermaid Chuchu available for pre-order on Kikagoods for $20 each! Use codes Discount10 or Back for 10 percent off!
      Edit - aaaaand I'm an idiot. Reading is hard before coffee. Re-posted to the 1/12 thread. Sorry.

    21. Has anyone seen the stuff for, I think it's Ufdoll's 1/6 cat tv head dolls?

      • x 2
    22. Oh nice, one of the Luckydolls is a good fit for a character I want to shell so definitely keeping an eye on them now!

      So far I've managed to resist the temptation of the UFdoll bunnies. I'm trying to stick to dolls that work for characters I want to shell and resist the 'I want it because it's pretty'. I'd love to see what yours are like when they arrive :dance

    23. Just FYI for y'all - the UFDoll blind box dolls currently available for pre-order for $60+ USD on Kikagoods and Jane's Dolland are more like $40 on AliExpress... (legit).

    24. The set of UFDoll Bunnies I bought through Clover Singing have finally shipped! Can't wait to see them in person! I've been seeing lots of owners' pics on the Japanese side of Twitter and they seem to look so cute in person and to have rather striking and shiny eyes!

      The Lunar New Year holidays start this weekend though, so there's probably going to be a delivery delay but I'm glad Christina managed to ship them out before she went on holiday.

    25. So I have one of the UF Doll rabbit maids and...she needs bloomers. I got out a Petite Barbie, and judging by how her clothes fit my little maid, she appears to be Skipper/Pullip sized. Time to pattern-hunt!

    26. If these are anything like their ChuChu mermaids, I am going to buy at least one. I finally received my ChuChus, and they feel like BJDs. The plastic is soooo smooth. I had to keep checking to make sure it wasn't resin.

    27. These will be an easy pass for me as I was never into the whole TV-head-girl as a trend thing, but I do think it's great that these are likely to be somewhat affordable, for those that can't buy the $500+ TV-head artist dolls out there!

    28. My UFdoll bunnies have arrived! And I was pleasantly surprised that they came with gifts! I ordered a full set of six and they came with a cardboard backdrop and a bag of blank spare parts!

      [IMG]

      They don't seem to be for the dolls I got as they already all have their necessary parts in their individual boxes. (I got all the regulars, no hidden.)

      [IMG]

      I haven't really counted the spare parts, but it looks like I got a spare body, a bunch of blank head plates with the back plates, a bunch of blank ears and a bunch of eyes. Not sure what I'll do with them as I'm not much of a doll customiser... maybe it's time to try?

      Anyway, not sure if the spare parts are a gift from Christina/Clover-Singing or UFDoll. I have actually been getting gifts in my orders from her recently. A TinyFox I ordered came with an extra outfit and an extra random blank head. (I think it might have been a sample or defective head though as the name TinyFox is kind of scratched out of the back of the head.) And a fullset Imomodoll I ordered through her also came with an extra random blank head!

    29. I just placed an order for a UFDoll Bunny Maid blind box from KikaGoods! It was an immediate buy for me considering that most of my coveted anime-style dolls are usually outside of my budget, especially at 1/6 scale and above. Funnily enough, what really drew me to the dolls was that they really reminded me of Nekopara. I had initially assumed that these dolls were actually cat girls (and possibly boys?) and that the long ears were a stylistic choice, similar to Tighnari from Genshin Impact or Serval from Kemono Friends.

      They’re all beautiful and I’ll be happy with whichever one I receive. Although, I must admit that there are some styles that speak to me more than others.

    30. I would love one of the heads, but have no interest in the body they come on.

      • x 1
    31. I got different experiences from Chuchus… Pennys box Tidal secret those are so much better. And I think they are 1/6 with tail

      • x 1
    32. Luckydoll is not out yet? Only pre-sale? They look gorgeous like Imomodolls. I would love to order without preorder…,

      • x 1
    33. @AbrakadbrA - re the ChuChus - fair enough. I think they feel the most like BJDs, but they are a floppy mess, lol. The posing is not great (which is probably why they feel more like BJDs to me). Penny's Box is such a good, cohesive line. They've clearly thought this line through and planned ahead, with the heads and lower bodies being interchangeable between all versions/lines.
      Luckydolls are available through Kikagoods and on AliExpress. Not sure why they are still listed as pre-order, because Kikagoods is shipping. I am sad that the head backs are listed as sold out - I definitely want at least one.

    34. The mermaids are definitely long! I'd still consider them 1/12 though, because their upper bodies and heads are the same size/interchangeable with their other 1/12 dolls. They just happen to have a really long lower half. :XD:

      • x 1
    35. O I’m still waiting for my bunny ufdolls can’t compare yet with mermaids.

      • x 1
    36. Sometimes I think my eyes is on my butt or something I just went through whole Kikagoods yesterday & only found dresses for luckydolls but not dolls themselves only pre-sale. Went on AE 1 seller with pre-sale for May. I’m getting old or something. :(((

    37. Video of the Cat TV prototypes.

      I wonder where they got that tiny working TV screen? Anyway, I think I might end up getting two from Clover-Singing... :sweat They are currently up on Christina's new site.

    38. I mainly only the one with the black outfit, but 1/6 blind boxes are like.... gee that's a bit expensive for a gamble...

      • x 1
    39. This is how I've ended up feeling about them. Even Luckydoll, who prices their 1/12s very very affordably, jumps up considerably for 1/6.

      I really like seeing what's coming out, but since $60ish seems to be a standard, that's gotta be a no from me. :sweat

      • x 1
    40. Yeah anything over $30 for a non resin doll starts to feel pricey to me. I have noticed however if you are willing to brave a place like AliExpress, you can get the 1/6 blind boxes and even many of the already confirmed dolls in the $40 range.

      • x 1
      • x 1
    41. OUCH. That means easily $100 each. :( Which is a great starter price! But... a lot more than I was hoping to pay.

    42. I'm thankful for pictures on the internet because chunky wrists and ankles is a turn off for me.

      With blind box figures I figure out which one I like the least and prepare that every box I buy will have that one in it. Even if it doesn't matter much I still figure I'll end up with doubles.

    43. Ah, and I love them. Looks like no super-thicc wrists, either.

    44. Well, I ended up ordering one of Cat TV dolls.

      Decided on getting just one in the end. Hoping to get any of the girl designs. Not so keen on the boy. (I hope I haven't jinxed myself by saying this... :sweat)

    45. @namika Where did you manage to order one of the cat tv dolls? Just curious.

      I am quite fond of the look of them and while I have my top fave, I think I would be willing to take the gamble on them. ... But then again, if I could order the black one directly, I would do that.

      The BonBon Galaxy PVC girls do look pretty cool, actually! The red one they show off in that image is really appealing.

    46. From Clover-Singing/Christina. She had them up on her new site for preorder a while back. It looks like she's closed the order and removed the listing now though...

      (She has a new site as the old one was giving her trouble. But she now kind of randomly updates either site with new preorders... You have to look at her Instagram to find out what is on which site.)
