General 10-20cm Blind Box BJD Discussion

I've pre-ordered a Mogo Bloom Series doll. I can't wait to see which little mushroom girl I end up with!

Omg congrats, I've been eyeing that set so hard I love mushroom aesthetics so the Mogo Bloom line feels so targeted to me

 

I am so tempted by the Mogo Bloom dolls but I haven't pulled the trigger yet.

 

Very relatable, honestly I probably will end up ordering one, just closer to the actual ship date.

 

I really like the Bleeding Tooth Fungus one. Not being a blind box is a plus lol

Of the blindbox ones I can't decide which one I like the most. I am between the purple and pink haired ones, but also the blue and the classic dotted mushroom are also on my mind.

But Kikagoods's all in set has the option for a tan skin one and I am always down for tan skin sdfjghsdfjgbfjkdg not sure if I want the effort of selling off the ones I am less interested in or just trawling AliExpress later.

She's cute and should fit the tiny clothes I have! And I tried some Azone (I think) shoes that fit!
Overall, I like her! But my main complaint is the neck attachment comes loose really easy. Might glue it into the faceplate slot to stop that.

 

I didn't want any of the sugary girls, but every time I see owner pics of them I'm blown away by how cute they are aha they live up to their name for sure

Sorry to double post but I spoke a bit too soon here lol. I had only tried one thing. She doesn't fit a lot of it actually haha. The bottoms DO fit. But tops i'm having a hard time. She's so tiny up top. I think i'll need ob11 for tops. Or maybe even some MH that are not G3 Draculaura at least. But blythe bottoms and azone shoes are good at least.
For now tho, here she is wearing a Disney ILY skirt as a dress for Halloween. (It's tied on to fit lol)

 

Hello all! I swear I posted here before but apparently not. I found the Past in Sicily guys back in August and I am OBSESSED. Absolutely adore them. Even designed a custom stand for all of them. Does anyone know if any other clothes fit them? I have one boy in just the undies set and another who is nakie and would love some sugestions. Otherwise its my crappy sewing they will be stuck with lol.

I also really like the Zack Event boys (who also fit on my stand) if anyone has one. Some how lucked out out and got the cute pink maid boy for my second.

 

I have a zack event boy on the way. Gonna be delivered in a day or so? I really dislike the doordash-ish last mile delivery companies for being opaque and not having sensible delivery windows. A recent one stopped by at 1am

 

Has anyone here seen the previews for the next Advocate Freedom series? I really loved the Electronic Pet girl series they did, and the two of those I had were pretty good quality, so I have high hopes for this next release they're gonna do lol

 

My Zack Event boy arrived and I'm really impressed with the doll.

The baggies in the packaging were weirdly oily, but the doll and doll items are fine. Not sure if this was a from the factory thing or the person opening boxes to confirm who is who had oily hands or something.

This version of "1/8" scale is interesting. With a different head sculpt, I feel like he could be used as a little bro for my shortest 1/6 doll Asleep Eidolon DingDang compared to the Penny's Box Luluya which feels more like PB's 1/12 stretched longer (Sailor Moon Noodle Legs seem really popular in the blind box space lately)

Zack has some good Quality of Life features. He is wired and he has hook stoppers and clothes changing hands. He comes with a lot of hands so this is very welcome lol. Losing s-hooks for my 1/12-1/6 crew is the worst part of this scale. He is a very solid stander (the big chunky shoes probably helps)

I also really like how the hair is sculpted, they hide the seam on the plastic wig's separate halves elegantly.

Altogether a really good value for the $27 I paid (give or take a few dollars from an aliexpress entire cart discount) and I immediately bought the accessories set from Kikagoods so I can customize two blank boys xD

Just a silly lil shot of some of The Horde, they just sort of ended up posed like this while I was trying to fit everybody on the table. Not sure if they're curious, or if they want to eat her.



I said I wasn't going to get the whole Happy Excursion set, but I really really wanted the fish girl and then one thing led to another and now I'm just missing the fox girl. Sigh.

Yup! I'm..... 80% sure it came with him specifically, if not, from one of the other ones in either the Study Tour or Happy Excursion set. I have so many tiny hands y'all.

Unpacking an order for me and the datefriend like "wait, I don't remember ordering these?" Turns out I absolutely did not take Kikagoods seriously enough when they said "freebie every 65 dollars" lmao. THAT EXPLAINS WHY IT CAME IN TWO BOXES

 

When I preordered a few dolls in September, they were having a "free outfit for every $30 spent." One of the dolls I got was a Tinyfox. I now have 7 free outfits for 1:12.

 

Hi, does someone have comparison pictures of the past in sicily guys with blind box dolls in similar proportions ? when I check promo pictures of other brands, their heads seem tiny in comparison , so I was wondering how it would look concretely

 

I'm not sure how easy it is to tell from this shot, but here's one of my Zack boys with my two Past in Sicily guys. Zack is a bit taller then them, but definitely has a bigger head, and looking at my other Zack boy with some girls of a similar height and style (Sugary Girls and Minty Ocean Gem specifically), it'd probably be even more noticeable.

Honestly, as far as I can tell, the Sicily boys are pretty unique in their proportions among blind box dolls. They might match some more "action figure" style brands, but unfortunately I'm not very familiar with those.

 

Thank you for the picture @Nasa that's very useful ! indeed, I searched and couldn't find any blind box doll matching the past in sicily dolls, most of them are around nendo head size so I feel like it would be odd to photograph them together, as you say PiS dolls would probably match better with action figures on that matter (I planned if I bought him to rebury him anyway so that's not a big issue for me)

 

I just got my Cooze Devil Horn Special Sloth and wanted to get advice on something.

(Still waiting on my Mogo Bloom Special Color Mycena Subcaerulea in tan, my Start Again Special Green Fox head, and my Start Again Mystical Events face + clothes (unclear if the hair comes with?) which I ordered a few weeks ago.)

The Special Sloth came with SO many extras, I'm not sure what to do with all of the extra faces and even an extra hair set and face stickers. I might just get one of the extra bodies to match the skintone and make a twin for her.

I might end up doing another ramble post comparing the Cooze Devil Horn body to the Penny's Box 1/8th and the Minty Forest one, but right now the face plate and how the hair and neck connector all connect is driving me up the wall.

I need some advice, as I'm not sure I'm doing it right? The eye holder goes in first, then slide onto the neck connector at a weird angle to avoid unhooking the S hook, because the eye holder has a huge hoop that's in the way and sits where the S hook wants to sit, but the neck connector has a little bump that fits into a notch on the front side of the eye holder??? But none of it actually stays put or holds tight until the hair is on, so it's a super pain to fit it all together without it falling to pieces, or something slipping out.

Unless someone has a better way to put their heads back together, I'm not sure I can recommend them just because of this awful experience. I hope I'm describing it well enough because getting a picture will be a huge pain.

 

Uhm, I just got my regular Sloth today and I'm actually super impressed and pleased with how well everything fits together?

Have you tried looping the s-hook around the little nook on the neck piece? It actually fits into the little space under the eye piece snuggly. I snapped a quick picture on my instagram, hope it helps!

Ahhhh, okay I had the S hook standing up, like in most of my BJDs, and it kept getting hit by the eye holder and everything else and getting knocked almost out of the doll. Laying it down looks like it will work way better and is probably how it's meant to be, thank you!

 

Fun fact while I'm unpacking mine: the Lulu Elf Story girls come with their own stands :3c

 

Can confirm on Cooze girls that the hook MUST be laying down flat. I was having trouble fully closing their heads until someone showed me a picture of how they're meant to be positioned. They are cute tho and I wish I knew what clothes would fit them. Maybe Monster High? And they do come with so many extra faces. I like that there's even a smooth headback for a regular wig if you wanted!

@Nasa oh dang that's nice. These little dolls should all come with stands! Especially if their big, resin hair is heavy (looking at you, Sugary)

 

Ahhh, congrats! I am thinking of grabbing a couple myself. They're just so cute!

 

I was wandering around MixC in Shenzhen (was like mostly restaurants and expensive brands but there were a handful of shops with cute cheap stuff.) and picked up a cooze devil for under $20. I pulled a Greed. I like it overall, but I don't like how the eyeballs look so matte.

Being able to see the blind box toys in person makes them more tempting and being cheaper in China doesn't hurt lol

I also wasted too much money gambling on mofusand plush keychains in a shop in Hong Kong so blind box impulse buying not always good xD

I also received more ZackEvent boy bodies and the Mianmian Rainbow Witch via Kikagoods and extra zack outfits from CherryGoods.

The MianMian has good quality of life features in the wig. It has a round headcap for switching to fiber wigs and the plastic wig magnets to the headcap so it doesn't slide around which is nice for the big chunky head. I also love the rainbow beans.

On the flipside, I feel like the ZackEvent ponytail wig could have stood to more workshopping because it is unweildy from its weight.

 

After waffling for over a year on the Nyssa dolls, I finally caved in and bought two: the ghost nun being the creepiest imo, and the black goat because she fluffy I figured my wallet will be safe from all other big and vibrant-pastel themed blind box dolls I don't care to have. Now do I want more? My lack of shelf space and my anti-consumerist mind says no, but we shall see.

I had to perform emergency doll surgery on my nun because I accidentally pulled too hard on her hand and broke the wrist joint entirely. Luckily, I had a spare bjd-to-mjd wrist lying around, a thin metal wire to pull up the s-hook lost in the tiny forearm, and pliers to reshape the s-hook to fit the new joint. Lesson learned: don't handle the blind box bjds like you would with mjds

 

Hi, little question, do you know of other blind box dolls with the same head size as past in sicily dolls ? I'm a bit conflicted because I really like these dolls, I have one for now but plan on getting others, but from what I searched for, they are pretty much unique in terms of proportions. For dolls who collect them, which dolls did you find march the best with them to interact on pictures for example ?
Here's my doll I did a body swap to make him a bit smaller and I love the vibe of this collection, very unique too compared to most of the other main blind box dolls we know of

 

I've removed the Star of David from my doll and with it, all the harmful implications (however unintentional they may be due to designer ignorance).

I would like an opinion: should I leave her as is? Or should I attempt to correctly paint the inverted pentagram to stay on brand with the series' horror theme?

 

I like the idea of the inverted pentagram, but it's your choice.

i have bags of spare hands... every doll comes like with 6 extra sets that i'll never gonna switch around...

 

I considered putting them all in a mason jar and leaving it somewhere for my roomates to find, but I fear that might start a war I would not win.

 

I've seen someone mention storing the respective hands inside the heads of the doll before , but I'm guessing milage may vary on that.
(My nagi bias may be showing bc that little corner is my favourite haha)

 

OTL I wish I had learned about this Antu series when it came out, I just know a full set of them would look incredible. At least I was able to nab the green one, my absolute favorite.
