I ordered three heads from Gem of Doll during their event a few months back. I already had their 1/6 Beth Fullset, so I was looking forward to being able to try out new looks on her! However, I realized too late in the process that I ordered the wrong resin color. So now I have another head (and body) ordered in the new color. Double however! As you will see... the skin tones look exactly the same! I'm not sure if Gem gave me a different skin tone than I ordered, or if they are the same one under different names, or if they're just really similar. It's a happy mystery I don't have as many detailed pictures as my other unboxings, but everything was well wrapped and arrived in good condition. Plenty of bubble wrap - some I already removed. And all three COAs in one envelope. It was a little strange - the Milo Doll COA didn't actually have any information on it about the doll, date of purchase, anything. It just had a picture of her and the company name on the back. Unwrapped the heads from bubble wrap, face protectors, and many many many layers of soft foam wrapping! Here they are! Sunny, Yoly, and Milo Doll Billy. I got too excited and already put Yoly's eyes in before realizing I hadn't taken a picture All the girls have eyes now! I'm pleased that my 4mm iris eyes work so well with Billy. I knew her head measured smaller, but seeing it in person is so different. And here are all four of my girls together - including Beth, who I already had! The photo is edited, but their skin colors really do look the same. Onto my detailed review/experience! I was so so excited to get these heads. Beth was my second doll, but the first one I have truly loved. I got my first doll years ago when I was in a bad mental state, I was afraid he was possessed, I didn't bond with him... etc. But Beth I love to pieces, and Gem of Doll has SO MANY cute sculpts!!! (I already want more, Gem please do another head event ) So I was pretty sure I was going to love these new girls too. Opening them was a little bit of a rollercoaster for my emotions, though! At first, I wasn't completely over the moon about all of them. I have warmed up to them pretty quickly, but I just realize now that there's a reason why Beth is still my favorite of their sculpts! It seems like whoever did the faceups for all three (if they were the same artist) was pretty heavy handed on the pigmentation, especially for Yoly and Billy's undereyes, and Sunny's blushing. Sunny's blushing especially stands out to me. She's cute though Billy's head is, as I mentioned, smaller than I thought, so I'm wondering if I will one day need to buy one of Milo Doll's bodies, even though I like them much less than the Gem 1/6 bodies. It works alright on the Gem body, just gives it a pretty long neck effect. If her head was the only one going on this body, I would consider sanding it down, but she's sharing it. Billy's faceup seems significantly more brown to me than her promo photos, which seemed very pink - one of the reasons why I loved her. But I'm wondering if that is also a trick of light/photo editing. I think I can learn to love it anyways. And then there's Yoly. I saw Yoly first of the Gem of Doll sculpts, and I was originally going to buy her (until I saw Beth). Seeing owner pictures of her solidified my love for her. But something about seeing her in person didn't quite hit right. I'm not sure if it's the heavy pigmentation - her eyes look very red rimmed, and she looks a little less smiley/mischievous than I've seen other Yolys look. But I do like her in the photos I've taken of her, and I think the eyes I picked for her are perfect. I'm sure she'll grow on me too. I've mostly talked about the issues I felt, but if I talked about everything I love about them, we'd be here for days Now I am waiting on Gem's 1/6 Violet, and we'll see if I order any more of their 1/6 sculpts going forward. Thanks for reading!
They look so adorable!!! I’m sorry they weren’t all up to your hopes but at least in photos I think they’re all so precious!
