Thought I was done saving up for dolls.. then I realized Gem of doll has green skin and found Sofiar... I am now saving for another doll! xD I love her!

Hey all, I'm new to dolls and want a Gem of Doll Sofier, does anyone have any idea of their poseability and quality? I've read above that the poseability is good, just wondering about everything else!

 

Oh wow, is this really all there is on the mini GEM of Dolls so far?

I'm really tempted to pick up that cupid Moky ... but I'm a little bit conflicted about resin colors. A lot of the pictures seem to have different filters on them, which makes it a little hard to pin down the true shades. I'm a little worried about the white skin being a little bit too shockingly white with the pink-toned faceup/blushing offered, and was hoping someone might have some examples of a GEM of Doll in white, normal pink or normal yellow resin?

 

I have two on order. One of their giant BB's Miroro. And one of their brand new 1/4 girls, Ainny.

They have, but Ainny is getting a new face up :3 So it'll be a while yet before she is photo ready.

Just can't decide which doll I will order at first.
They are simply too many cuties to choose from

 

Ordered a Mococo fullset today with 20% winter event discount from ACs.
She is such a gorgeous girl. Her sweet eyes and those cheeks
Hopefully she will be at home in about 3 months.
Also ordered a pair of turquoise Mako jewelry eyes for her.
Can't wait!

 

I just got a shipping notice from Soom. My Little Gem Nightgardener has shipped! Totally caught me by surprise. She is the first doll that I have ordered in a very long time and will be my second bjd. So I got the fullset (everything!!!) except for a wig I think. The wig was sold out. Both normal head and romantic head, flashy eyes, outfit, wings, the works. I am so excited....but a little nervous. We will see when she gets delivered!!

 

I'm excited about the new male bodies! I mostly collect male MSDs but I've had my eye on GEM as a company for quite a while~

 

My Mococo hasn't shipped out yet but I already consider to order Andisi

 

Me: Why would I wait to push that buy button? It feels stupid to not to order her right away.

So now I did it!

I recently ordered Capricorn (or is it Shipher?) through ACBJD. I hope the silver grey wig I have will fit her.

 

I just got a second hand Andisi. I love the body but absolutely hate the face-up. I don't have the full set - maybe it looks better with the original clothes, but that face just will not go with any clothes I have. But I just can't bring myself to wipe the company face up. Is it just me? What do other people think of her face?

 

Your Andisi is so cute! Mine also has the company face-up but it's totally different! The dark shading across her eyes is so dark it's like she's wearing a mask! I hate it. Maybe lighter eyes would help.

I actually adore Andisi’s faceup but I also bought her for that reason. Because I like her aesthetic of being magical and forest-y and witchy. But don’t be afraid to make her your own!

 

Thank you. You made me think (ouch). I put her away last night and looked at her again this morning, and you have a really good point - magical and forest-y and witchy. She is what she is and my putting a frilly dress on her does not change who she is. I DID however, change her eyes and her wig. Now I'm working on an appropriate outfit for her. We are BOTH much happier.

 

Does any one have a Natasha they could post a picture of the factory face up? I love her in the production photos, but I have seen two owner pictures that look drastically different and it concerns me.

 

After over a year of waiting, she has arrived! I was worried that the wait would have made me fall out of love with her, but she won me over when she arrived again. I feel like running around and holding her over my head like that scene from the Lion King, haha.

@PoeticSoul Thanks so much! I actually bought the outfit from Luts several months before she arrived since I knew I wanted her to be red and black themed. I'm so glad it fit as well as it did when she arrived!

@Leo Pheonix Thanks! I definitely had an idea in mind for how I wanted to style her, so I got her blank. I'd been looking forward to customizing her as the character I was envisioning that I ended up doing her face up pretty quickly! I need to get her manicure and pedicure done soon, hopefully we'll have a better day for it soon. It's so fun to see how dolls of the same sculpt can look so different depending on clothes, wigs, and face ups!


Note to self, fix fly away hairs before taking pics, haha! I'm thinking of blushing the tips of her horns red too.

 

...Well, at least the outfit and eyes I bought for her fit pretty well. The wig isn't meant to be the final one, hers isn't here yet.


I was originally planning to do her faceup over the week-end, but I gotta admit, the missing horns have dampened my enthusiasm somewhat. I guess I will wait for Christina to answer first, before I do anything.

 

I just realized I haven't shared my Capricorn here yet. In a dress I made for her in December. She's got different eyes now, but here's my Jalaa.

 

@EagleVision1999 I hope that they get back to you soon with an update! The horns are lovely, so I'd be super sad if they forgot to include them! I really like your girl's aesthetic so far, the dress is gorgeous!
@Leo Pheonix Aw, she's wonderful! I love that wig on her, the volume looks great with the horns!

I ended up getting another wig for Artemesia, I wanted one that would show off the design on her forehead. I really like the color on this one.

 

@Magnus Vale Well, they did claim they included them, but Christina says she'll order a new pair for me (after telling me to go through all the bubblewrap again...which I had already neatly folded in a pile). So I'll get them I just don't know when.

Anyway, I was prepared to do a faceup on the week-end, so I did take her out. Felt kinda bad to just leave her blank. Here's the result so far.

I'll have to reconsider her lipshape a bit, maybe. She's a bit severe looking as is. I tried to give her sad eyebrows, too, but I think I'll need to exaggerate the shape more if I want that to come across. I'll have to think about it some more.

 

Hi guys, I wish to revive this thread to report that Capricorn looks really pretty in Luts clothing. The dress is ultimately intended for Gaia (who I don't have here yet) but I felt compelled to try it on Capricorn to make sure it actually fits that body. Which it mostly does, just a bit loose around the bust, but not enough to look ill-fitting. I really like it. I had an eye on it for a while and when it went for sale recently I just had to get it.

In unrelated news her horns are currently in transit. Soon she'll be complete. I also blushed her hands but I don't have any good photos of that. I'll take some when her horns are here.

 

My Gem of Doll Hades fullset has finally arrived…and he’s everything I’d hoped for! He’s my first doll from Gem of Doll and wow! I’m so impressed with the quality of everything. His resin is wonderful, his faceup and body blushing are sheer perfection, and his outfit is to die for! The only thing I changed was his wig from the original brown to this lovely pale green/blonde one from Luts. This is my dryad, Willow.

 

The green wig you chose does look nicer than the one from the fullset. Very pretty.

 

He's gorgeous! Gem of Doll really is high quality, especially their beautiful clothing!

 

It's a miracle! My Capricorn now has horns!



However, getting them on was a whole other ordeal. The horns arrived with two sets of magnets, but they weren't inserted into the horns yet. So, first I have to glue them in and of couse they don't quite fit into the designated opening...So I scrape it bigger with an exacto knife and put them in. So now they're complete, but there's another problem. The magnets are weaklings. I had to mark the place her magnets are inserted into her head onto the wig and then make sure there's as little as possible of her wig between the two magnets...The horn on the left is only kept upright by the braid in the wig, the other one stays on a bit better. When I'm absolutely sure what her final wig will be I will modify that wig to have holes where the horns attach are for better stability.
Anyway I'm still super happy, she looks great with horns!

 

He looks so good! I also just got my Gem of Doll Hades! I didn't get the full set so he was just shipped off for a faceup and body blushing but I absolutely LOVE how it looks in the full set!

 

Hello, it's me again. I own three Gem of Doll girls now.
I just got Aurora today and she's delightful. Her magnetic parts stay on way better than my Capricorn's for one thing. She also comes with two extra magnets, so this isn't just something they did with my Caprocorn's horns but something they routinely do. Nice!
But also! She has detachable ears! This makes sense because her fantasy ears are magnetic, as stated in her product description. I just assumed these magnetic fantasy ears would attach in addition to the human ones. But they don't, they can be switched instead. Which is obviously the best solution, I've just never seen that before. If I had a metal fridge I'd be tempted to stick her human ears on it.
The fantasy parts can be switched between left and right, so if someone did not like the intended orientation they could theoretically switch it around.
I also really appreciate that Gem of Doll always include pretty glass eyes, and nice eyelashes. Not those super long ones cut to size (like Ringdoll) but the kind you can buy in pairs. I did not use them for Capricorn and Gaia because they both have white eyelashes, but I will use them for Aurora. The eyes she wears are the ones that were included with Gaia.
I will probably paint her on the week-end.

Gem of Doll is really one of my favorite companies, I think. Even if I don't personally buy a sculpt of theirs, always I love seeing them.

 

@EagleVision1999 Congrats on getting your Capricorn's horns! And on getting Aurora too! Both those girls are in lovely dresses. My Capricorn Jaala is a little jealous.

@PoeticSoul I think Capricorn has a very interesting expression, it's why I went for her. That, and her horns. She was super difficult to paint though.

Yes, Jaala does have a green dress, but she's currently in a t-shirt and shorts. I need to make her more clothes!

 

@EagleVision1999 Your Gaia is lovely too…love the faceup! I’m really looking forward to seeing how you do the faceup on your new Aurora. She’s already adorable even blank, and I love all her extra parts. She’s bound to make a fabulous character.

 

Some progress has been made...I'm not done with the horns yet, I think they'll need another layer of pearl pain and then some shading with iridescent pastels. But not today, I'm out of concentration. I think it looks decent enough for her to stay this way for a few days.

Anyone here got Lanska? I'm tempted for his Fullset since I first saw him

 

I been tempted every time I see him, and I don't NEED a boy but he's so dreamy.
His outfit is so pretty, too!

 

I just realized that I never posted him here, here's my Chris! I absolutely adore this boy, he's so pretty. Ended up swapping out his fullset wig for one I thought matched his ears and tail better. Gem really did a gorgeous job on his body blushing and tattoos too!

 

He’s so gorgeous! I’m thoroughly impressed with the lovely job Gem of Dolls does with their fullsets. It’s great to see a company follow through with such lovely examples.

 

I would be interested in Lanska fullset photos, too!

 

Are the waiting times Gem mentions on their dolls realistic?

I've been eyeing Chris since he was released and he's in sale on their page right now so I'm super tempted to finally snag him. The full set is too fantasy looking for me (although gorgeous!) so I'd likely go with the nude doll option.

Also does anyone have one of gem's dolls in tan and could compare it to for example Myou coffee or Luts real skin brown? I'm trying to figure out how light/dark it really is.

 

The times for blank dolls are realistic. None of my girls took longer than about a month.

I'm pretty sure Gem of Doll's brown skin is darker than Myou Doll's coffee. Not sure about Luts. It's also fairly reddish.

 

Redid Artemesia's face up today because her lip lines were too thick and were driving me nuts. I ended up making her a lot more cheerful looking than intended, although I do like it.
