Alright, so some time around 1:30 I decided to draft a pattern resembling something like wonton's "Petal Dress". http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a101/Miss_emberly/PetalDressPattern.jpg It's not very hard to use. Connect the sides by the matching signs (Hey, it's like a kiddie coloring book!) and when you do that slit it down the back to finish it however you chouse. And please, if you use it, gimmie credit, at least. A picture would be nice. This was fitted very specfically to a Volks MSD. Try it though even if you don't have a MSD, and let me know!
oh, thank you thank you !!! Willl get to this on my next day off and post some pics for you :> Seek peace Carol
Emberly, Thank you for posting your pattern, I did print it out right away, just have not had a chance to make one yet. Sorry, should have posted sooner (hangs head).
yeah, I had a day off and didn't make it either.. will start right now - going to make it in leather for my goth girl hehehe Seek peace Carol
here you go! I apologise for the white ribbon, will head into town tomorrow to get hot pink. I used pleather for fabric, eyelets, and I made the side/front seam my opening, rather than the back, so it would be a feature. I tied the ribbon around the neck in a halter style. As you can see, Alice is considerably less 'mature' than the pattern was intended for, so I will probaby remake wiht some alterations, but overall, the pattern was FAB, it went together very easily and it quite suits her. Thanks so much for sharing Carol
That's so great and goth. xD It's so different than the concept the dress was designed for. I'm glad people are using it and find it, if not completely perfect, helpful.
Ohhh...just what I was looking for! Even though I got boys, these will be SO cute to make to give away in the newbie packs!
I will definitely try this out when I get my MSD new Liebchen. That looks so cute on your girl Rattimoth!. Thanks Emberly.
Thanks everyone for the lovely comments :> Emberly, its not that the pattern wasn't perfect at all! You said it was fitted for an MSD girl.. Alice isn't quite MSD, and as she is my very first mini ever, I just didn't know enough about the difference to alter it before I made it, I only used scraps, and as you can see, it took an hour and half to print, cut, sew, embellish and photograph, so it wasn't any loss of time at all, in fact I learnt a heap doing it :> I have altered the pattern now and will head into town and get the right ribbon this morning :> Thanks for sharing a pattern that is obviously so versatile. Alice is going to have more than one of these in different fabrics and I may even try upsizing it, Ixia is looking at it rather covetously :> Seek peace Carol
Ah... well... I attempted a dress, but my subpar sewing skills do not do your lovely pattern justice! When I saw it I went squeee and thought of Cardcaptor Sakura's green fairy dress! I am going to use it to make that hopefully soon, but until then...
This pattern was great and really easy. It fit my Narae really well, I loved it. ^_^ I just need to get some eyelets to make the corset-y part...
this is really cute! I might enlarge it to SD size and see what I can do with it for my girl..if I do, I'll post pics (and of course, give you credit)
thank you Emberly, it's brilliant, it has inspired me to make a petal skirt to go with it for a fairy outfit. cheers cookie
oooo.... I'm going to make this with a lacey skirt to go under it ^.^ the girl I have coming in the mail need clothes
oooo that is wonderful im gonna make that it looks so brillaint on the pictures shown too i want to see your misya and nasiya close up
And here is my little Unoa playing Tinkerbell ! Thank you Emberly, as I pmed you this was my first sewing action ever, your pattern is just great ^_^
those are cute! where did you get those pink grommets? i would love to get some green ones for my leprechaun ... i can feel the money slowly leaking out of my checking account
i will definitely try this out! i have some fabric that would look great as a sundress. she's not msd, but i'll see if i need to modify it at all for her bust. thanks!
I got the little pink eyelets (grommets) from a scrapbooking shop.. you can get ALL sorts of colours there :> Seek peace Carol
I'm gonna see if I can make this pattern bigger for my DDII XD It's so pretty and she needs clothes man! XD I'll put pics later.
How do you get the grommets in? I thought you needed a tool of some sort. (Wants to use grommets too ^^)
I use a scrabooking eyelet setter, it works fine.. I just hit the back of the grommet once with a hammer when I am finished setting them, it flattens them just that bit more so they don't rub on the resin.. Seek peace Carol
How sweet Im going to make this in a sd size with an under skirt (super fluffy) cant wait to get started! yea! thanx much
Thanks (about grommets) I used the pattern and made an SD sized version of it and used it to make a dress. It's a really great pattern! It's sooo cute!! I made a few mistakes while sealing the fabric (bed sheet >.>) with heat (it melts) and it still came out good! The only problem is I mis-measured and her hips are too big!! I'm going to adjust it and see what I can do after that! Thanks a lot Emberly!!
Chii, you do need a tool, in fact you need two of them (three if you count the hammer) First tool is a punch, it puts the hole in the fabric that you stick the eyelet into. Next tool is the setter, you lay our fabric FACE DOWN with the eyelet inserted in the previously made hole, and you place the setter over it. Then, you hit it a few times with the hammer.. I hit the grommet direct with the hammer when its finished, just to flatten it a little bit more. A fabric or scrapbooking shop can help you with a complete set, and they are NOT expensive. if you don't have a hammer, just about anything heavy will do (I have been known to use knife handles, shoes, spanners, pretty much any percussive maintenance tool hehehe) Seek peace Carol
XD That's gold. Is papyrus a scrap booking store? I don't know of any and they sell a lot of paper stuffs so I was wondering..
ummm... I live in the middle of nowhere australia, and I have never heard of papyrus, sorry :< I would imagine that joanns or michaels or hobby lobby would have them Seek peace Carol
-pouts- Mine didn't turn out pretty like the rest. What did I do different? Is it just because my girl is flat chested? Or because I didn't tie back the top? Help please! Image Here
wow... I can't believe I missed this... I'm usually in the workplace searching for cute patterns every weekend. this is great! Thanks so much Emberly! I'm definately going to try this out! do you have any other patterns???
I used this pattern to make a dress for my doll before she arrived and never did anything with it until just recently. After all the work I put in it looks like this: I really appreciated this pattern! Thanks ^^
I'm going to use this pattern to make a few dresses for my ever patient, far less spoiled girl Vanessa. Thank you for sharing!
I sadly can't see the pattern due to photobucket being an ass. Anyone care to upload it again? Or maybe just email it to me?
PetalDressPattern by Errin Reynolds, on Flickr Hopefully this works, I apologize as this is my first time using flickr. I had previously saved the image. If everything is correct credit is given to the original in the post (if not notify me Directly and I'll fix it). I'll also take it down if the original owner reposts...but seeing as she is banned I don't think that will be happening any time soon.
Sorry, still figuring out flickr, didn't realize it automatically set it to private when you create an album. Thats something I'll have to look into >.< I made it public now so you should be able to see it.
Same here I'm not sure if its because I'm running an ad block on my browser or whatever. Is there another way to post photos without using photobucket?
@Welldweller, @Liselotte-Hoshi Imgur or Flickr work, I have the image currently hosted on flickr, you can see it on post number 50 if you missed it.
