Warning Fraudulent Buyer! Beware

May 7, 2005

    1. I dug around and found a TELEPHONE number for him, I might even have another one if I dig more. What should I do with it. Shall I give it to u stitch?

I am shivering, due to the fact that I have NO CLUE what his motives where with me. ICK ICK I feel violated....

      Louisa xx

    2. Louisa~
DId you see where I posted that he/she purchased (stole) a telephone voice machine that modifies your voice on the phone?
Did he/she sould odd at all when you spoke to them?
I would share the number with the police when you file a complaint with the Internet Fraud Complaint Center.
They will use everything you provide for the investigation and I am sure a phone number would be helpful.

I feel SO sorry that you were violated by this weirdo.

    3. Well I was gunna file but as he/it never took anything from me in terms of "things" do I have a right to file? I suppose any info is good...

To answer your Q, no he sounded normal. Male but a little gay, definately male. He has a answer thing on his phone, that has his voice on. If someone in the us called it, you coulld hear it. He'd assume a wrong number, or you could just block yours... being from the uk I can't really call it. He'd know

Just a suggestion, maybe a bad one.

      Louisa xx

    4. I don't have any intention of calling them directly, though I was tempted at one point.
I do want to strangle this person for being so arrogent, but it's nto worth the energy.
I think you should still file a complaint, but specify that you are only providing more information to the case against them.

    5. It seems that this person tries to use "buy it now" very often.

Are they still trying to pay with Paypal?

I think if the credit card companies had to take the hit for all of this theft instead of sellers, this wouldn't still be happening...they have been pulling this scam non stop for how long now? More than a month, with people reporting them and it is still going on.

    6. right well i have filed. Was up all night trying to type everything concisly. There's nothing left to tell I got it all out. He's a sordid lil ***k I hope they get him now.

    7. Indeed. I have to agree that if Paypal, Ebay or the credit card companies were responsible for the theft (which as far as I am concerned, they are), this would have stopped a week after it began.
So I have taken to pssing along the information to sellers on Ebay who have posted gothic looking dolls or clothing as he/she seems to go for those above all.
I have received several emails back from sellers thankful for the warning.

    8. I just sent yet another email to Ebay informing them of the new ID and warned the sellers they have bought from recently.
I swear! They just took a $106 portable DVD player too!
I will never sell to another user with low feedback again.
      Live and learn.

    9. omg...i feel sorry for all of you that have lost to this jerk. i was scammed about a year ago. i got my money back, but not before paypal took their fees. why charge me when i was in the right? *_* what saved me was using delivery confirmation. if it hadn't been for that, i would have lost it all. :|

what kills me is that they are letting this person create new accounts over and over again! it really makes you wonder if ebay even cares about the sellers....as long as they get their money.

wickedstitchery....thank you so much for the heads up on this scammer. i don't make the type of items this person seems to be attracted to, but it's always good to know about scammers regardless.

      rebecca

    10. No problem, it's become my quest to nail this person for what they have done to all of us.
I spoke to the San Antonio police this morning and he wants all the information I can provide about this person along with any photos of items stolen.
As it stands today, these items are considered stolen property and the local police can get involved.
If anyone has photos of their stolen items, please list them here and I will forward them to the detective.

Thank you everyone for getting involved and helping catch this thief.

    11. I just sent the following email to the detective in San Antonio, TX.
Hopefully he can do something about it for all of us.

      [/i]

    12. As of today, lilmissbonnie is no longer a registered user... so that means another name making the rounds.

Thanks for the heads up on this... thing. :|

    13. :o oh my god! is terrible >_< i was starting to sell on ebay but now i m so worried :? ebay must stop him!!!

    14. keep in mind that he will have little or no feedback score... that wil keep u safe...

      Don't worry we'll get him

    15. I was originally looking for photographs when I sutmbled accross this thread...as I've been reading it, my stomach has turned in disgust over and over again.

All of you people that are reporting this crime, are incredible, many people may not deal with it in such a way, as to inform the community, prepare a group-front, and document everything.

Thank you for helping others become aware to fraud and theft..
When I begin buying-selling, I will definately keep my eyes open for this kind of atrocious behaviour.

    16. :daisy
The way I look at it, we are just doing what Ebay and Paypal should have done when this first happened.
I just want the dollfie community to be safe for all of us.

    17. wickedstitchery: Since the name of the person you shipped the goods to and the name of the person's credit card who paid for the transaction is not the same, could it be a stolen CC? That would explain why PayPal accepted a chargeback even though you could prove you had sent the item and that it had been delivered...?

In that case the question is what other CCs have been used, or is the same card still active to start ever new PayPal accounts with?

I keep my fingers crossed that you will manage to bring this person to justice - and soon!

    18. If the credit card was actually stolen, it would have been reported and the credit card company should have cancelled the card. I'm just amazed that the credit card company hasn't done anything about this yet itself. This user should have been flagged for doing this on a regular basis, and they should have started their own investigation into the matter.

I just hope this person is caught and the items he's stolen get returned to the sellers. Ebay, Paypal, and the credit card company have just fallen completely, stupidly flat on this one....

Anyways, I'm just keeping an eye on things and hoping for the best for people. *big hugs to everyone involved* Stick with it!

    19. whoops. She got me too. e__e;; Where do I contact ebay at to send them my information?

    20. :o YOU Too?

I am SO sorry to hear it.
If you don't mind my asking, what did she steal and how much did you lose?
You can file a complaint against them at the link provided in this thread for the Internet Fraud Complaint Center.

    21. $25 on a dress shirt. However, my paypal doesn't have any further info on the state of delivery. *shrugs* It may have legitimately never gotten to her and gotten lost in the mail. X3 I know I sent it... but who knows where it went. o.o

    22. Stuff like this is why I get delivery confirmation :( But even then.. it takes 9-10 weeks before you can even hope to gain a refund.

    23. My thought was that perhaps this person has a deck of stolen credit cards? Or credit card info... And uses one card with one PayPal account and one eBay account, and then starts in on the next one.

It would be truly, truly odd if it was the same CC forever getting chargebacked. The CC compandy ought to react to that, I'd hope... :|

    24. well, the name on the charge back for me was the same as the one wickedstitchery had. But then that was when s/he was still going under that first ebay name/account.

    25. Ugh, I'm appalled! This Arse is putting a bad name on all the other new buyers, including me.. :barf

    26. Agreed - I'm amazed that someone actually dared ship me things when I was an eBay newbie after hearing horror stories such as this one! Which is really a pity, since everyone is new at some point....

Which makes dishonest people like this even more culpable - not only are they stealing from the sellers they are defrauding, they are also stealing goodwill from all future honest new members who will have that much harder a time scraping together a comfortable amount of feedback to buy with ease on eBay. :|

    27. I haven't heard anything back from the detective yet, but I will be following up with him this week.
I'll keep you all updated if I hear anything sooner.

    28. I can't believe the nerve of this person!! I can't understand how people can do stuff like that and be able to sleep peacefully. They definately need a wake-up call that they can't keep stealing without a concequence.

The really sad thing is that he/she is giving other newbies a bad name, ones with honest intentions who now have a hard time buying what they want. :( It's also hard to believe that someone like that could appriciate the beauty of BJDs, but I guess you don't need to be nice to like beautiful things.

I think this guy has no conscious and has a lot of issues to deal with. I'm certain that he will be brought to justice and made to pay for his non-payment. Have faith!!

    29. Is everyone sure that this is a stolen credit card? I mean, when I buy something I use my parent's account sometimes, so my name isn't going to match their cards (especially because I don't share the same last name, I'm adopted). Maybe its a similar case to this? But you guys do mention a "chargeback" but I don't know what that is

    30. A "chargeback" is what they call it when a credit card holder submits a claim to the card company saying they did not authorize the use of their card for any certain purchase.
What the card comapny does is investigates the charge and in my case, they said because the buyer did not have the same mailing address as the card holder (why it is likely this is not their child) they awarded the refund back to the cardholder (even after I provided proof of delivery, feeback left by the buyer and paypal emails etc., they didn't care).
In most cases, I was told, the card company will win and refund the cardholder at the seller's expense.
Good to keep in mind when selling on Ebay.
These companies WILL NOT protect you unless you pay them an EXTRA monthly fee to have "Seller Protection".

    31. ...wow. That's all I can say about this thread is just wow. I'm still new on ebay myself...though I've had my account for I think nearly two years now...lol I just don't use it much, I think my feedback is at like 8. XD!! Though when I bid on things from other DoA users I tend to send them a PM or an email saying who I am here since the two names are different (yeah all my emails are the same name...then I get accounts for ebay and here and those are different...XD!!). I figure it's probably a little more comforting for sellers to at least know I've dealt with a few people around here as well, rather than rely solely on ebay feedback, since I don't have much of it. lol

But really, I hope you all stop that fool. How ridiculous, I would think the first $1,000 of chargebacks would be a red flag, but maybe that's just me. :| Oh wait that's right, individual people have common sense not big companies. Get 'em GET 'EM!!!

And WickedStitchery, you rock for bringing this to a group front. And you *points* I LOVE those pants that were in the unfortunate stolen outfit. Could you do something vaguely similar to that in black and lime green SD13 sized? Do you have any idea how hard it is to find someone with good lime green fabric...? lol

...here I am making requests in an evil fraud person thread...lol

    32. I added all of the evil person's id's to my "blocked bidder" list on eBay. Even though he/she is no longer using them, it makes me feel a bit better. If anyone finds his/her new id, I will immediately add that name to my list too. I bet everyone should!

    33. Wow.. reading the first few pages of this seems kinda scary :/ Sorry about that happening you all of you.. that would really suck. Sometimes I hate ebay/paypal for their use of wasting your time. A few days ago I got an email from ebay about someone using my account to buy something. Problem is.. is that I donโ€™t have an ebay account. I thought maybe it was some kind of joke and pushed it aside. Then 2 days passed and I got another email saying that another email was added to the account. I went to ebay and decided to put in some ID's I might use and see if I actually had an account which I doubted I would. Now none of them worked so I went and guessed it worked alot like paypal where you cant make another account with your email. But.. I used the email ebay sent me a msg with and the account worked. I hate how people can take stuff that isnโ€™t yours, I dont want identity theft... so does anyone know if you can use two email addresses on different accounts? Id like to ask ebay.. but I cant find out where.

    34. I got that email also that said another email had been added to my eBay account. I checked my account and that email had not been added, so I knew that email was fake. I forwarded the email to [email protected] and eBay replied back that indeed, that was frauder spam. So even people without accounts could get it. Never click on the links in emails like that! Always forward it to [email protected] first and they will tell you if it's fake or not.

    35. Hmm.. thanks for telling me that. I was wondering if it was a fake email. ^_^ Good thing im not alone! But that puts my mind to ease.

    36. So.... I just got a chargeback of 33.30 for a sale I made back in April... and it appears that it was this particular person I sold my outfit to... (T_T)

    37. Oh god, why aren't they in jail or something. Paypal sucks at security!

    38. Paypal REALLY sucks at helpingh sellers.
They will not help you in these cases.
      Total suckage.

    39. any news on this yet brandon?

    40. Nothing yet, but I am due to make a follow up call to the Austin TX police and see what, if anything was done.

    41. I got a spoof paypal notice the other day >.< it's like.. wait... my paypal is registered under my busniess e-mail...not this addy.... DELETE!

    42. Yeah, I get those emails in my spam folder pretty often now. One thing you can do to make sure it's a spoof is whether or not they call you by your real name or not. If they just say "dear customer", etc, then it's a spoof.

    43. any news yet? I rarely sell and when I do, it hasn't been BJD stuff. I wouldn't dream of charging back any seller...that just isn't right. this thing sould be locked up for good.

    44. I was just wonderinf if there had been any news lately? Something like this happened to my boss for a pricey item recently. T_T

    45. :o
      *Whew*
Thank you SO much for warning me.....
I am also a VampireFreaks user and had met this person through an aquantance of mine.
We chatted for a bit, but I was slightly weirded out by him, so I only gave him my e-mail adress that has no contact info attached to it (No city or country or any of that)
I've only known him for about a month, but everytime we talked I got a weird vibe....
Thanks for letting me know about how really weird he is.......
I think I'm going to drop correspondance with him ASAP.......
Again thank you for the warning

    46. what id is he going by these days? On aim? and may I PM you sweety? If thats ok?

    47. this is some crazy stuff I can't believe there are jerks *ssholes that big aroung!!! :x I'd totally spit in his face if i ever saw him in person... there are no words for the lowly scum of this earth!!!

    48. I think this guy/girl and polaris should get together. They'd be quite a team. lol

    49. polaris?

      PS EEEELLLLLLLL!MMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

      that is all...*giggle*

    50. Hey Wicked-- thanks for the heads up on this guy.
I just wanted to say... since I was reading along and nobody said it--
THAT WAS ONE HELLAVUA GREAT OUTFIT this guy stole. I mean seriously,
it's outrageously great. Kudos to you.

Not worth going to jail over tho! LOL. I am glad you got your shipping receipts.
I sell a little here and there, and I always do a delivery confirm even though it's a little more with some shippers, and if something is over 100 I usually insure (which costs so little) to make sure I don't get that "but I didn't get it" stuff.

If you have your receipts, I believe Paypal will help you out.

      *fingers crossed*
      & on to read more...
      Cato

    51. Eww. And then they'd spawn more little hellion-scammer creatures like themselves! :barf We don't need to breed scammers; we need to make them extinct! XD;;

    52. Thanks Cato.
Sadly, I informed Paypal AND Ebay when this all went down that I not only had the mailing receipts, but the buyer actually wrote feedback saying clearly that they got it.
      Paypal doesn't care.

    53. I'm absolutely appaled that Paypal doesn't protect it's sellers. I've dealt with smaller online payment companies in the past, who absolutely guarentee the seller gets the money, and take it upon themselves to contest if the buyer does a chargeback.

Guess that's why Paypal's bigger... they're cuthroat, uncaring bastards.

    54. its not just ebay sellers he/she "its" scamming

      heres a little fuel:
      some of Gavin's numbers
      (210)379-4207 most recent cell
(210)561-1547 home number which was illegally put in my name, lets hope AT&T believes me because I dont wanna pay the $850 bill
(508)496-3083 old cell phone, to my knowledge disconnected in october

I confronted him about this post when I found it a couple weeks ago, soon before he dissapeered on me.
He blamed it on his ex-girlfriend "Jenn" who had been living with him

I spent 2 months of maybe, 4 hours a day on the phone with him, so I may have a little more info then you guys

If anyone wants to contact me about this please do
      my msn/aim: darkwoundedrose
      my yahoo: savememoonlessnight

I hope we can help eachother...

    55. Ugh, it's appauling how this person can just steal all this stuff and Paypal isn't doing a damn (pardon) thing! I myself don't sell on ebay, and am one of those lucky people who hasn't dealed with an ebay scammer, thank goodness. I wish I could do something to help out, this is nuts. Here's to hoping this person is put away for good!

    56. :? Oh gods- I think this guy may be the person harrasing a friend of mine on another non-doll related forum!

This is so creepy... and how can Paypal be so unhelpful??? I was going to start selling doll stuff on e-bay... but now I'm not too sure... :sorry

    57. This is really sick. It's one thing if someone goes to a store and steals a candy bar once a month (still wrong, but I think you get the jist), but to this extent...

He/she/it is obviously a sick, unfortunately professional thief. I wonder if he/she/it is selling things they steal...or keeping them? Perhaps at conventions or small boards for doll things? Who knows...
Someone stealing to this degree is almost definitely stealing from other companies as well. I'd bet it is a shoplifter, and probably has committed credit card fraud and mail fraud with other companies, online and off, as well.

Why is it that they'll capture a poor woman stealing formula for her infant and throw her behind bars for ten years, yet scum like this continues to roam free?

    58. I'd suggest (I didn't look through the whole thread so maybe this was said) that the police station be contacted in the town that the clothing was shipped to. $72.00 is an important amount. Not to mention credit card fraud is oh... a FELONY.

      Good luck wickedstitchery!

    59. Actually, the San Antonio police were contacted and given all the information we had at the time.
      They haven't followed up.

    60. he's no longer on vampire freaks. This is apalling. May I ask what the total is up to now? I can't believe its all the same person!
