Hi all had a look around, but haven't seen this question (sorry if I missed it). I was wondering if there is a formula that I can use to work out how long the leg elastic and arm elastic should be in a doll based upon the length of the limbs? The long version/explanation for my question Over the weekend my friend and I recieved dolls we ordered a while ago. It was my friends first (sd) and mine was an msd. She opened her doll first and I was quite impressed with the detail of the sculpt and the engineering of the joints. He came out. Of the box absolutely perfectally strung! So I was kinda expecting a simelar situation for mine. Lol I was totally wrong. I don't know what was wrong with the stringing, but she was super kicky and could not stand. So i decided to try my hand at stringing! It's the first time I have done it (bar a super tiny one that I don't think counts). I removed her leg string, and even doubled up, it was longer than she was! I may be wrong, but that didn't seem right to me. In the end, we cut the leg string in half, and strung each legs individually. Not easy considering the channels for the elastic were tiny O.o (though this was more of a problem when getting the knot into the torso) I just have no idea of how big a string I will need to make a doll well strung. I would appreciate any help on this! Thanks
Usually the arm loop (doubled elastic) should reach from elbow to elbow, and the body loop (doubled elastic) should reach from one knee, to the top of the neck, down to the other knee. It does vary a bit, depending on how stretchy your elastic is. But that's a good starting place.
take your replacement elastic make a rough loop in your hands and stretch it from one s hook to another (you may need to do it in sections like stretch a loop from head to ankle then you double it for a single elastic loop for the legs/torso) and then add a few inches for a knot, thicker elastic will need more spare elastic for a knot (add more if your not too sure you can always slide the knot down)
