I just have a question/problem as far as focusing goes. I own a Nikon Coolpix 7600. The problem is whenever i try to take a picture of an item/object/person up close, it always blurs that out and focuses more on the background. I'm sure it's a setting issue, i just don't know how to change it. I've looked in the manual to try and find out how to fix this but get no answers. It's highly possible that i just am not looking for the right topic tho. Thanks a bunch in advance!
Well there are a couple of different setting you can use. 1) you can set in on macro mode (it will look like a little flower) this is great for close up pictures of the doll's face, eyes, lips, etc. Just make sure when you are in this mode that you don't zoom at all. If you do it generally makes the picture blurry and unadble to focus. 2) you can set it on portrait mode. This makes the focus of the camera on your subject vs. the background. Hope that helps ^__^ If you are still having problems just let me know, I'll see what other things I can think of that might help..
I have the same problem, and even when I set it on "small object", with the flower - if I'm close to something, like two profiles facing each other - if there's any background showing, it chooses to focus that, so the items I'm trying to shoot become blurred. It's maddening, and I find myself constantly trying to work around it. The manual has been no help with this... *sigh* I'll be thrilled if someone has an answer for us!
Well, exactly where are you focusing the camera? The little square or dot which is the point that the camera is suppose to focus...where do you aim it on in a situation like this? Also, how far are you from the dolls when you try to shoot this?
*nods* If you are pointing the focus area at the background, then it will focus on the background. I know some cameras will allow you to focus on an object if you hold the shutter button down half way. Then after you do this (still holding the shutter button) you can position your subjects in the frame the way you want. This shouls put the focus on the object you want and not the background. Also if you are trying to take pictures of more than one doll you may want to put it on the landscape mode instead of portrait. This will focus more on the entire area.
On top of that, if you are too close to the subject, the autofocus cannot focus on the subject properly so the background is what will be in focus.
I don't know about your camera but mine has a feature that if I hold the button down lightly it will come into focus on the screen and show me with little brackets what it's going to focus on. With that you can at least tell whether the picture is going to be in focus or not without having to take it. Other than that I can't say much. ^^' I'm very hit and miss with focus.
Two words: manual focus. According to Digital Photography review, your camera has it. Check the manual on how to engage it since MF varies by camera.
