I ordered a Soil head today. : D The heads are absolutely gorgeous, and I'm looking forward to face-uping him. Now I just have to pick the perfect body... Heheh. They emailed straight away saying my order will take 15-30 days, so that's exciting.

 

I have ordered before - the two smaller heads - Kaka and Char - They are well made and unique. I am still waiting on bodies and good weather to do face ups. I decided to order soil and dust as well. I think they will end up sharing a body when they get here.
Communication was good and they did ship when they were promised.

 

There was a previous sale of Dust which I unfortunately missed by one day and he could be ordered with cat ears and cat mask. I asked if those would be available in the future and was told "Yes"! I've also ordered Dust but I keep looking at Soil, too.

Roztastic, I'm looking at bodies, too! Since he seems more boyish to me, hoping to find something that's not ridiculously ripped.

evie the kid, I think these are the first SD heads the artist has offered but it seems he (?) is working on a more mature head for KaKa. I can't wait to see how Dust looks IRL! It's been a long time since I've seen a mold I couldn't pass up.

Xialoi, I picked up a Kaka head in the MP last week! What kind of body were you going to use for him?

I just ordered My Soil head as well. I just kept on thinking about the mold and decided I should get him before it's too late!!
So excited! Gonna have to look for a body as well. Anyone have any ideas??

 

I have ordered a doll leaves white boy body for my Char (white)- It is a preorder so won't be here for a couple of months. There is another Char on DOA that is on that body and the white matches. I was able to find a used volks boy body in normal that will be for Kaka - I hope the color will match or at least be close. It should come this week and if the weather improves I hope to be able to do his face.

 

Yay! So glad to see other people loving these doll heads as well! I couldn't decide between the two at first but I've decided on Dust! Haven't ordered yet, as I asked Small if she could provide a photo comparing the NS to the WS. Not sure of the body I will get for him as the ones that I've seen to match so far don't appeal to me

 

Wow, her art style is lovely too. I love the way you can really see the consistency of style in her sculpts. And I think I'm going to wait for my head to arrive before ordering a body, see what the resin matches are like with the other companies I own. P:

I ordered a NS Soil a few days ago to go with a Volks SDGR girl body I already had. I haven't seen any pictures of Soil or Dust on female bodies so I hope the proportions will be okay. I'm still considering ordering a Dust head too, but I haven't decided yet.

Xiaoli - It's nice to hear that you had good experiences in the past with SC-Doll, it's comforting. They were very good at answering my questions and communication as well.

Demivenom - It is nice that others have shown interest in these heads. I've been waiting to see if anyone opened a discussion thread for them

I ordered Soil in normal skin. It was really hard to choose between them. I wish I could have gotten both.

Edit: I went and ordered Dust, too. They just seem like they belong together. I can tell myself that they can share a body (although I secretly know that I will want to get a body for both. Shhh, don't tell me.)

 

gypsydale - grats on getting both heads I would love to get both too but I would have to sell something first I would have them share a body too....(for a while)

gypsydale - It's funny - I told myself the same thing when I ordered both heads - That they could share a body.

 

Gypsydale: hehe lucky!! I'm hoping Soil will still be available when I've got more funds, or that he gets a second release cause I could see myself having both too hehe. But for now, Dust will have to do! I don't like my floating heads to share bodies though so I would have to get them both one :P

Mikkio - I have the char head in white. I don't think it looks good on either the DT 5 or 7 yo bodies. It is much smaller than the Dollstown heads. I have a dollleaves MSD boy body in white that fits perfectly. I haven't had time to do a face up but if you like I can try to take some snaps this afternoon and put them up on flickr. I have soil and dust coming and I think they may be the right size for the dollstown bodies.

I know that some people have gotten their heads already. Anyone care to share owner pics?

Mine haven't arrived yet but I've already ordered bodies and clothing. Really hope they get here soon!

 

Unfortunately it has been so hot and humid I haven't been able to do any faces on my heads. I'll post some pictures if the weather breaks and I can get them started. (Soil and Dust).

I have them on Doll Family H bodies. The match is very good.

 

I like what both of you have done with your Dust heads. My guy is still blank and bodiless.

 

gypsydale - I love your boys face ups. I am still waiting to have time to do mine. Also I don't have bodies yet.

 

evie- I thought they were the same mold when I bought them but seeing them in person it seems there are other differences, like Soil seems to have a narrower face and smaller nose.

I really like their ears. They are almost elf like.

Hi! I've just received my Soil today! I'm in love with the sculpt,
but I noticed a few things that seem off and I'd like know your opinion:
First- while the resin looks nice the finish seems very rough-
spec. the head cap has sharp edges and creates a slight gap at the top of the head.
The neck is also very rough - on one side it seems as if there was a lot of resin cutout leaving another sharp edge.
The eyelids - the edges look very rough and one corner of the eye seems chipped
And the mouth - the inside is rough and uneven
+ there are small specks of dirt or dust embed in the resin- a lot on the headcap-
which is not a problem - but also on his cheeks and near the chin.
Now I need to know if anyone else had their heads arrive in this condition or if this is how all of them are.
I understand that sc-doll is a small company (run by one person only I believe)
but in case this is not common I guess I might have received a faulty cast
I really like this sculpt though and I could fix most of these problems with sanding..
Should I be concerned about the condition my boy arrived in? Or was it with yours too like this?

 

My Soil also has pretty thin eye wells. My Dust's mouth has a bit of a rough finish and he has a small scratch / gouge under his chin. Both boys' ears are a little rough on the inside as well. Neither is quite as rough as yours, though. Neither of my heads have specks in the resin.

I can live with a few small flaws when it is an artist cast but yours seems to have a lot. It might be worth contacting the artist to see if exchange is an option. So sorry you had to be disappointed in your new boy!

 

Thanks for the quick responses! I guess I'll try contacting them and ask if a replacement would be possible. The eyelids and neck especially I'm a bit afraid to try fixing on my own..

 

I'm still waiting on a body - decided to try the new dollstown 15 yo. I love the old one so hopefully the new one will pose as well.

Xiaoli, the proportions look good! How do you like the new DT body?

 

lunar marsh - I like the body. I am getting use to the knees. I have the older dollstown body and it would stand like a rock. This one requires a bit more fiddling around. I also miss the torso joint. My heads are white and the match with the pale dollstown is very good.

 

Anyone try to go on SC-Doll's site lately? Doesn't seem to be there anymore.

 

I was looking for it too and couldn't find it.

 

Oh, that's too bad. Hopefully, they're just housekeeping or something.

 

I hope so. I really wanted some of the cat ears and the cat mask.
