Hi guys! Does anyone know if there's any way to bring the curl back to a mohair wig? I have a BJTales Mouse who wears size 2? maybe, VERY small wigs, and the wig I like best on her was full of tiny curls but over time they have fallen out till it's now just mostly frizz! Any ideas? TIA!
For an answer to this question I’d turn to the antique doll collecting sphere. Here’s a few tutorials I found to help you get started.
Are we talking about natural curls, or a wig that was styled? I make my own mohair wigs, and what I do when they get too fuzzy for my taste, I simply put them under water and then let the wigs air-dry. The water brings back the natural curls of the mohair beautifully. A gentle brushing might be needed afterwards depending on the look you're going for. BUT my wigs only have natural curls, I don't style them. So if you're looking to restore styled curls, this might not be the solution for you. And of course, for this you need to have a wig that was either sewn or made using water-resistant glue like mod-podge. I use the latter so that's why I'm comfortable just dunking my mohair wigs in water.
Yeah, I do the same Styled curles, however will need to be recured and set like human hair would, if it weren't curly to begin with. Try winding small sections of the hair around pieces of pipe-cleaner (you can fold the pip-cleaner over to clamp the ends down while it dries and sets). Be warned however, if you use hairspray on it DO NOT spray while the wig is on the doll as the ahirspray will react with the sealant and ruin the faceup as shown here : https://www.antiquelilac.com/uploads/5/1/5/1/5151368/20809_orig.jpg Teddy
