first restringing issues...

Jun 10, 2005

    1. so i followed the tutorial someone kindly gave me on a site, and im pretty sure i did everything correcty...but after restringing the legs they dont hold their positon better at all... and one of the arms is super-tight and the other is very, very loose. @_@; should i buy new elastic completely? and does anyone have close-ups on arms and legs joints for a SD13 so i can double check i didnt htem correctly? im so nervous i may have screwed her up

    2. If you're using one piece for both arms (which is the only way I've ever seen it done) you might have just made one tighter than the other when pulling the elastic through. Have you tried pulling on the tighter one to see if it evens out any? You may have to pull on the legs or the head to get the elastic situated evenly in the body. I've never had a problem with one side being tighter than the other, but that was the advice I remember seeing for someone who's head was too loose and the legs tighter. I hope that makes sense/helps.

    3. the tighter one seems to be just perfect for posing, and the other one way loose. im wondering if i should try with less elastic in both, i think perhaps i over stretched it, or maybe need to buy some new eleastic :?

    4. Also, the knot in the elastic may have gotten caught or wedged somewhere tight. This will cause uneven tension in the elastic. You may want to take her apart and slide the knotted area more towards the middle of the body.

    5. that's a good point...I didn't think of that ^^;; let us know how it goes.

    6. Hi Misuka, you need to make sure that the loops are even once they emerge from the sockets. If one loop is longer than the other, you will end up stringing one arm too loosely. Before you string the arms, just make sure that the loops are as equal as you can make them. It really helps if you have someone who can hold the opposite loop while you're stringing the one arm. If you don't have help, then try to make sure you're not pulling too hard while you're stringing the one arm, or try to fix the other loop in place -- grab it with your toe, or tape it to the counter, or something.

With the legs, it sounds like you may need to take out some of the elastic to make it tighter. Again, make sure the leg loops are as even as possible before you start stringing.
