Here's my first SD-sized elf head! She was meant to be incredibly evil, but she turned out good-natured and smiley. Haha. I'm undecided as to whether or not I want to cast her. Front View: 3/4 View:
I think you did a pretty good job. I love the nose and lips. The eyes could be made a little bit better, but I think it is a good start. If you feel like you may mess it up by changing them leave them they are fine. I like the chins initial shape but I think it could be made a little smoother. Good job though. I did one myself I have yet to post. I think you outshown me
Deffinately a good start. She needs a good deal of sanding though, in my opinion. "Evil"ness is achievable... In my case, I'd probably narrow the eyes slightly, but it's not nessecary... Often times the eyebrows have a lot to do with the expressions people seem to relate to a diabolic character.
OH! I love her little quirky grin. Could *easily* turn into an evil grin! wow, if that's a first shot you're going to be going places
Yes, sanding down is definitely necessary. She's got lumps all over the place! Afterward, to cast? Who knows? I like her eye shape, just need to sand them a bit to define the lines. Yeah,I was planning on relying on her face-up to make her character. I approve the use of devilish eyebrows! Thanks Baakay! (And how's your yang jr.? I can't believe he left almost a month ago!)
I think she'll look pretty nice once she's all sanded smooth. To me, though, it looks more like a male's face.
ooh verry nice he has a mysterious expression about him. He needs smoothing out (i'm sure you already knew) *two thumbs up* ^^
There are so many males getting mistaken for females, maybe it's about time to turn that around. XP No, I remember taking a good look and the same thought crossing my head, but well...she was *meant* to be an evil lady, but, haha, well, maybe s/he ended up the opposite of both. I still intend on doing a more feminine, evil face-up, though And s/he thanks you, illyrimur! X3
Quilibet, I didn't know you were interested in sculpting. She looks great. So you're going to cast her. Great, we can trade info. I want to get into mold making and casting. Just not my big girl, Leeza. I don't think anyone would want one as big as her. How big is your doll going to be? mPy aka Yia
mPy! I'm not sure if I do want to go into casting. Slightly intimidating. O.o Yeah, I've never really tried sculpting before. Leeza is amazing, though! My girl's standard SD-size; probably around 58cm if I ever get around to making her a body. ^^
Ooohhh, NICE start! I really like the shape of the mouth/lips, especially :> I do agree that the face is somewhat androgynous at this point -- but that's very cool, there are a lot of girly boys out there, it'll be nice to see some women with stronger bone structure :> Looking forward to seeing what comes of this! -- Andi
i really like it! it actually looks ELFY! most 'elf' dolls are just human faces with pointy ears >.< its lovely, and like ashbet said, theres no androgenous females, so this is a partiuclar treat to see!
Doh. I can't believe I didn't answer you :P Pietr is wonderful, although I think he's getting tired of waiting for me to make him some *appropriately* sized clothes Poor guy is wearing white leggings and an oversized black shirt at the moment, and looks like a ballet dancer. But back to the subject at hand, inquiring minds want to know how Elf Head is coming along!! It's such a cool-looking face!
This is really nice for a first sculpt. I particularly like the nose. You do have some symmetry issues, which you might be able to see better by holding the piece up to a mirror, or just doing a horizonal flip of the straight-on photo. I don't know if you want to make her(?) more feminine or not, but if you do, just reduce and smooth the chin: Either way, I look forward to see this finished.
