Aesthetics First Faceup!

Jul 12, 2018

    1. Yesterday, I completed my first faceup on my bobobie Apollo! I'm quite proud of it for a first try, but I welcome any critque you have for me. I think there's something wrong with the eyeslashes, but I'm not sure how to fix it.

    2. For a first try, it is really good imho! Good job! I like it.:3nodding:

      Maybe next time, you could paint the eyebrows lower. He looks very suprised. But if it was your intention, then forget what I said! He has a cute expression!:XD:

      You wondered about the lashes. Maybe the first 5 lashes from the inner corner of the eye are a bit stronger bend to the outer corner... and they are a bit long.

      (((|||||)))

      Try:

      ```\\\\\\
      Do you understand what I mean?:sweat
      But all in all! It is nice... it is just a tiny improvement idea!
      I can't wait for your next one!:dance
    3. Thank you so much for your advice! I understand and I think I will try that when I paint him next time. Im glad you like it other than that <3
    4. I agree about the brows, also they would look better if they are more detailed. I would recommend searching for "bjd brows" and "bjd eyelashes" on Pinterest for a better understanding of the direction and how they are supposed to look. Also, make sure to keep your pencils sharp, you gotta sharpen them frequently, every few lines, and go lightly. For that, you might want to use several coats of sealant to build up the tooth. As for the blushing, I feel like he needs a little more, and don't be afraid of pink on dudes, that's a natural color for our skin. I would also add more details to the lips. Like darker inner corners and lines. And another thing is a highlight, you might want it on the eyelid. Either way not bad for the first attempt! Good luck, and keep practicing :)
    5. I agree that the eyebrows could be lower. They could also be more symmetrical. What I do is start lightly with pastels so I can erase it easily and start over. I lightly start the eyebrows and then turn the head upside down. If you stare at something too long you can't see the mistakes. If you flip the head upside down you can more clearly see if the brows aren't symmetrical. Always sharpen your pencils frequently! That always helps. And when you do the eyelashes look at references, make them not all the same length and criss cross some of them to make them look more realistic. Great for a first faceup! Practice practice practice! :)
    6. I really like the blushing! As for the eyelashes maybe have have them point a bit towards the ears at the outer corner (not like straight out but I think you get my point) would maybe make them more realistic. Although you did a really good job for a first facup I must admit!
    7. This is really good!! I do agree with the comments about the eyebrows (some extra defining might help!), and some skin texturing can help to give the doll some character! I’d also suggest maybe some more detail on the lips and around the nose!
    8. This is really good for a first faceup :) Just some tips, the inner edge of the eyebrow usually lines up with the nostrils (roughly), and I'm not sure if you meant for the blushy mouth look, but if not a kneaded eraser can help clean up any unwanted pastel.
