Aesthetics First Faceup

Feb 15, 2014

    1. I'm not quite done with it, I still have lots I want to do, but I wanted to practice doing a faceup and add on from there. I'd like it to stay light and natural looking, no overpowering colors or anything..
      Critiques with anything would be awesome. ^^

    2. I think it looks really nice! It's subtle and soft, but very well done! The only thing I would say is that the eyebrows look a bit too washed out, unless your intentions was them to be hardly noticeable as well. Overall though, I think it looks great, especially with the hair!

    3. Thanks, I tried to get a better picture, my camera's been making everything look a bit.. dull I guess is the word, lately.

      Oh and I just got her eyes in the mail. :3 But yeah, I tried matching her eyebrows to her hair. ~

    4. She looks so naturally and not overly made up. I love seeing dolls who like me can't be fussed putting on tons of makeup. And honestly she'd so gorgeous that she doesn't need it! Great job for a first time.

      The only advice I would add it to hit the whole lip with the pale pink, the lower lip just blends in to her skin and to make sure the eyebrows extend all the way across like the thickness is great near the nose but they're so thin and near unnoticeable from the middle of the eye to the outter corner.

    5. Thank you! c:

      And I totally agree on the natural look. Some dolls are cool with a bit more dramatic makeup, but some of them really look awesome with just a bit of natural tone to them. ^^

    6. I like the fresh feeling of her. Like she'd come right out of good bath. ^^;

      Only thing to do better is that I personally would have done her eyes bit more (maybe just a hint of natural clolored shading in lids) - to stand out little more than now. But it's personal preference, and not a flaw in any way.

    7. What a wonderful natural faceup! When I try natural ones some part of the faceup still looks dramatic - the eyebrows might be overly stylized, or the eyes too colorful or heavily lashed - but yours has a uniform realism that's perfect. She looks like a real person; as I look at your photos I expect her to turn and smile, and speak to me. Great job!

    8. Very nice, I like the subtlety of the lines..very neatly done, clean and simple.

    9. Thats impressive for a first faceup. I have tried one and it didn't turn out like that. lol.

    10. Thanks so much you guys! I might try and add a bit of paint to her face once I get the confidence :P
