Aesthetics First faceup after 5 years out of the hobby!

Mar 13, 2014

    1. So this is obviously not my first faceup ever, because I used to offer a faceup service when I was last in the hobby about 5 years ago (and looking back they were not that great...). It was honestly both harder and not as hard as I remember it being.

      The head is one of the original Minifee girls, although I can't remember the name of sculpt off hand. I used pastels, watercolour pencils and a small amount of black gouache.

      Any tips on keeping pastel shading smooth and clean would be appreciated! I'm completely new to using watercolour pencils, and the ones I have are about mid-range quality. I definitely think I need more practice in keeping them smooth and less messy ^^;

    2. I think your face up is great, and it matches the sculpt very well. I think that she looks amazing, even if her lips aren't quite as clean as some. Her eye make up brings attention right to those gorgeous eyes of hers!

    3. I think it looks lovely. I hope than when I start to do my own faceups they would look nice enough :) I like the very small details you added. But that faceup matches that face sculpt quite well.

    4. Thank you! :D yes, I think you're right about the lips... I need to buy some gloss, so hopefully that will improve and tidy it up a bit ^_^

      Thank you! I try and add interesting things like beauty marks and moles... it just takes practice :3 get a cheap sculpt (and not a box full of heads like I do, good lord) and just keep trying new things until you discover your own way of doing faceups! It can be time consuming, but very fun :)

    5. Chiming in to add that I also love the little beauty marks and moles :) Everything looks cleanly rendered and well done.

    6. Thank you Etheldreda ^^ I've actually completely wiped that faceup and done it all again from scratch, I'm much happier with the final result! It takes a bit of time to get used to layering pastels and watercolour pencils :3
