Aesthetics First Face-up!

Nov 27, 2016

    1. Sorry about the low quality photos.
Something that I know I really need to work on are the eyebrows but I'm not entirely sure how at the moment.
This is my new boy, Sebastian (MNF RFA event head) and I wanted him to look more natural.
      Anyways... Here are the photos:

    2. Looks good! The eyebrows are a really nice shape though maybe a bit thin?

    3. Congrats on your first face-up! For me, it was hard to dive in since I had no experience with a "realistic" model. I was terrified I'd ruin it! Good job and keep practicing and playing around with different styles to see which "speak" to you;)

    4. You're doing fine. Just keep practicing and you'll only improve. A lot of professional faceup artists say the eyebrows are the hardest thing to do! He does look very "natural" which is what you wanted, so good job!

    5. I think you did well for your first try! I have the artistic talents of stick figure drawing and that's about the extent lol so I think this is a great first attempt. I know sometimes faceup artists will ind of shade the shape of the brows with pastels to give themselves a general guideline. Plus it would give hem some depth and thickness. Maybe try that? Keep practicing, and I'm sure you'll knock it out of the park!

    6. First off I applaud you for making the attempt and diving in! I'm too scared to even try a face up! It's a wonderful start! What materials are you working with? You might try working with a few more layers? Something I feel like might help is if you watch videos of either make up tutorials or more likely digital art tutorials they may give an idea of how to build the subtle details ^^

    7. Looking really good,:) my first didn't come out that well.
Ok, I'll try some specific advice, but since I'm not too sure what exactly you want to do, so take it with a grain of salt :sweat

The eyebrows have a really nice shape to them, but I think they might be a bit too high on the forehead (I did the same with my first, just look at the curves on the face to guess where they go) and maybe try some thinner lines (or that may be just because of the photo quality and I can't see too well) Jessdj88 gave some good advice on the shaping.
The blushing on the upper eyelids might be a bit too dark/gray (looks a lot like eyeshadow), maybe use a more brown/peachy color to make it more natural, and blend it a bit better. It also seems a tad bit uneven, the doll's left eyelid has a lot more blushing than the right eyelid.
Next the blushing in the tear ducts might be a bit dark (but it might also be the photos) and the blushing around the ears are a bit uneven/rough.
Last thing, you can add a bit of blushing around the nose (ie the nostrils) and on the cheeks, just to give a bit more life to the face. For the cheeks, you can google what position of the blushing would look best on what face shape

This might be a lot, but take your time with it:) I'm not a very good faceup artist myself, but I really hope some of this might have helped you.
