Aesthetics First Face-up! [SWITCH Hyul Final]

Oct 8, 2017

    1. Hello everyone! I have been meaning to give my two floating heads face-ups, so I decided to go with my female head first because I thought it would be similar to applying make-up. I do not have a practice head so I basically used a "learn as I go" approach. I rarely use pastels but the learning curve wasn't too hard! :) Wait times after using the sealant spray were about 30 minutes long.
A good amount of time was spent on the eyebrow shape, blush, and eyeliner because I wanted it to be perfect. The eyeshadow and lips were by far the easiest to do. The sculpt does not show too much of the eyes, so I wanted to emphasize the eye make-up a bit. I aimed for warm peach, orange, and coral hues, which are my favorite! I put the micropearl shimmer powder on the eyeshadow and cheeks for some highlight. She has fairly light eyebrows since she will have a very light hair color (and I'm not a fan of the light hair/dark eyebrow look).
Sadly, I do not have the wig and eyes I intend for her to wear, so she is eyeless and wearing a black wig I am saving for an incoming doll. I plan on giving her a long, white-blonde wig with deep red-magenta eyes.

Tools used: Mr.Hobby Super Clear UV Cut Flat Spray, soft pastels, gouache paint, watercolour pencils, acrylic gloss, tacky glue, micropearl shimmer powder

I turned on my easy-listening music and this is the final result!

I like how she turned out and I am excited to do another face-up and more to come! :cheer Time to get a body ASAP! She looks very nice in black hair but I determined that she would be blonde before the face-up because I knew I would lean towards a darker color if I did not plan ahead. These pictures were taken with my cell phone, so I apologize for any low quality. *_*

      Thank you for reading! :3nodding:

    2. Wow! for a first faceup you did extremely well..I would love to give it a try but havent a clue what sort of stu8ff you could use down here in New Zealand plus my hands arent steady anymore.I think a lighter wig will be great.:)

    3. Thank you for the kind words! I am hoping the dark eyeliner and eyelashes will pop out even more with a lighter wig and vibrant eyes. My hands got a bit shaky when I was working on the eyeliner (I messed up several times) and putting on the eyelashes so I do understand that frustration!

    4. I think the blonde will definitely show her up nicely...isnt it great you can fix up the messes so easily ..I have read that...lol.)

    5. She looks beautiful! Thank you for sharing her with us!

    7. Thank you both! :)

    8. Wow, for a first time....very nice, like the shimmers... I tried to make a fairy of one of my heads, but ending up removing it again, it was way to glittery...yours is subtile....

    9. Thank you! I was concerned that the shimmer powder may be too big and look too shiny before I actually used it. Luckily, that was not the case. I was debating between regular pearl and micropearl so I am glad I went with micropearl!

    10. Definitly take a look at the minipearl....it looks great

    11. That's a lovely faceup! The shimmer was a great idea, I've seen it used on fashion doll faceups and it wasn't overwhelming (granted, the artist was very talented) so it definitely can and does work on BJDs.

    12. Wow this one is really nice and looks natural too! ^^ Very wise approach with minimalistic style on eyebrows and stuff, my first faceup was so over the top it was awful. XD

    14. Thanks! :) I am glad I considered the shimmer powder. I was able to add just the right amount of highlight with it.

Thank you so much! :3nodding: I really wanted to go for a soft look since it was my first face-up.

Thank you! I am a huge fan of SWITCH dolls as well. I would collect them all if I could. :whee:
