Aesthetics First Face Up! MyDolling HeeAH - Fontaine

Apr 22, 2016

    1. So I got the courage to do her face up today. I had a practice head that I did a little work on first, just to get a feel for the pastels and watercolor pencils. I didn't finish that head but went ahead and did Fontaine since I had everything out and I really wanted her to have some make up on!
It's far from perfect, and it's not done, but for now until I can get more time to either remove it and try again, or add more to what's here... IDK.
Her eyes are a little big, still trying to decide which color to get for her but I like these so for now they stay too!

I wanted her to be pretty simple, and really I'm not capable of doing anything more than that! I like it, at least she isn't blank anymore and I am happy. I know there are several things to do and learn, and I appreciate any tips, comments good or bad!

I overworked the eyebrows a bit much, then when I went to seal her it had started to sprinkle, so wasn't probably optimum humidity for the Citadel sealant, and I think she has a little haze to her, but I don't mind as I am just happy to have accomplished this much!

    2. She looks very nice! :XD:

I've practiced face ups many times over the last six months and all I can say is keep photos of each one, keep looking at face ups you really like and want to be able to do and practice as much as you can. From my first photos of face ups to today the change is so drastic, I can't believ how much nicer they look and I still want to do better! My favorite thing to do is look at pictures from other people and try to emulate that, also watch videos of pros doing them.

    3. Also, I should add, find which things work best for you. I started with acrylics, which is so hard for me to work with, and now I just use chaulk dust. It's so easy to correct, can look just as beautiful/dramatic, but is so much easier for me. Some people can rock an air brush, some paint each lash/hair. Just find what works for you.

    4. That looks really good for a first faceup! ^^

    5. I think you chose a very beautiful lip color for her! I've used Citadel sealant plenty before and I know how much ghosting is possible (regardless of sealant quite frankly) on a tan doll worst case scenario, and it looks like you avoided it! She doesn't look ghosted at all in your picture.
      Congratulations on your face-up! <3

    6. This is really beautiful and light! A really great faceup in general.

    7. Thank you for the tips! I am almost afraid to wipe this now for fears the next one will be worse! I did have a bunch of photos saved of what I liked but I sort of hurried as I didn't have a lot of time, so next time I will try to take more time and prob. move her eyebrows down a little. I did just use watercolor pencils and pastels. I don't think I want to try acrylics yet.

    8. Thank you! It's a start, I can see a lot of things I want to change though...

    9. Thanks for the nice reply! I guess the lips match the eyes pretty well, I am hoping to change them in the future, so perhaps the lips will change next time I do her. In person I can see a little bit of the ghosting. I was able to buy this sealant locally so that is part of the reason I bought it. I will do it on a nice crisp day next time too.
