I made my first pair of eyes this week! Ran into some hiccups with the resin (I colored the bases with acrylic paint and I’m having a hard time trying to find a good ratio that gets them opaque enough but doesn’t impact the curing), so for my next ones I’m probably going to splurge on some resin dye. I’m not 100% satisfied with how they turned out (they look a little scary! Definitely need bigger pupils next time), but I’m proud of them for my first try!
I think they look super cute. I love the hand painted look, it almost give the doll a 2D look! Not scary, maybe the iris is a little small for your doll's wide eyes, but they still look great.
Thank you!! I’m much more of a fiber arts kind of crafter, so this was all very out of my comfort zone (I’ve never really worked with resin, and even paint and clay aren’t really mediums I work with often). I’m looking forward to experimenting more with painting specifically! At first I was a little disappointed with the lack of depth, but now that you point it out it does give them a neat look!
ooh they look amazing for being your first time Loved the blue ones because they look like eyes with a fantasy theme, like for fairies, but they have this old painting finish, they look like a painting of byzantine art I would use them for a character from the anime Jigokuraku (Hell's Paradise) for one of the Sennin, the antagonists, that type of eyes could suit them. Congratulations on your first try!
Yay for first eyes! I agree with the others that the painting looks really cool! It has its own distinctive style and character. The blue ones are such a lovely colour too!
ooooh how gorgeous though. love the hue variation on the blue ones, they're like crystals with depth. or geodes, or ice water? they're stunning. but yeah i'd say go for bigger irises (or eye size? idk if there is gapping in the eye well but that would be 2 birds with one stone if there was - iris size goes up with eye size) if you want less scary, the pupils are fine and lovely. would probably look great in another doll. but ofc if you like bigger pupils better, go for it. also love the shimmery sclera.
Those colours are absolutely stunning! I love all the detail in them too. The iris may be a little small, but it really makes the colour pop being able to see the entire iris shape.
